hardest watch of a well adapted series I've seen to date. props to the cast and studio for adapting it so well into an anime. definitely not for everyone since the story might be a bit too heavy but definitely well made nonetheless.

Yeah I like the ending, ending is good, overall it's a good and entertaining anime, but I feel depressed while watching this anime, cuz it's little bit disturbing and uncomfortable to watch, like ep 4 my mind just fucked up,and there are so many scene (like Hanabi try same thing like Her Teacher)I can't handle that time I just want to break my Tv.but by the end I liked the show.i want to give it 8 but I give it 7 (cuz of uncomfortable scene and I feel depressed more than a week after finishing the show)

This leaves a very strong mixed emotions, and I don't know how to feel about this series. The people did move on, but it still somehow made me sad. It portrays something that is so utterly disgusting yet pathologically beautiful at the same time. It did display loves of different sorts, but I didn't like how they ended up trying to convey a finding trueblove message in this episode. But All in all, this show is pretty cool.

If it wasn't for last few episodes i would have rated this a 1/10. Ngl last few episodes were pretty good and realistic (aside from the marriage part of that bitch Akane)
overall this was a decent watch.
Art-style, Animation & OST(ED&OP) are top tier in this series. However, the only character i liked in this is Hanabi aside from her all character are very trash.

Easily 6/10.

Been so long since I last reviewed an anime so here I go with a short one. . .

Well... After all of that drama-ecchi shits, this ending is okay, though it would've been more great if they end up together at the end (Mugi and Hanabi) but the story will not go in there. I guess the main purpose of this anime is more important than getting them together as couples

But well the important thing is each of them got a conclusion rather than not closing it livong the characters relationships all jumbled up.. I'm gonna get pissed on this anime if that happened, so I'm okay with it. I'll give it a max 7/10 rate. I'm glad that this is way better than Domestic Girlfriend and School Days :p

lame ending and like all the characters were total dog shit. main was ok and i liked ecchan but rest were fucking terrible. teacher was a whore and the other teacher was the biggest cuck i've ever seen.
The girl who liked mugi was fucking annoying and the guy trying to get ecchan was a creep.

nice move Mengo-san that you didn't end up Hanabi and Mugi at the end, Mugi is not the right person for Hanabi when Mugi didn't show up on that day of confession/rejection at 10pm at the park leaving Hanabi alone.

MASTERPIECE series! and I think I will not read/watch some of this mangaka/author Mengo-san other works bcuz its really hurting me, her works really a realistic series that will hurting the readers/watchers.

Ending was solid.

I'm glad they didn't force the Hana and Mugi ship tho part of me kinda wanted to see it happen at the same time. The visuals were really nice this ep. Gonna miss those multi colored eyes. 7.5/10 for me ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵

Yep, all the characters are shit but some of the intense melodrama in this anime was entertaining so 5/10

Also here are the top 5 worst characters:

5. Akane - made the show entertaining for a bit but she’s still a bitch
4. Mugi - why does he like akane again..? became annoying in the latter half
3. Hanabi - childish, whiny, cowardly, and bland
2. Kanai - cuck who’s useless the entire show
1. Ecchan - rapist stalker weirdo

It seemed like a pretty spicy and twisted story at the beginning (which it was really), but by the end I think this series did a pretty good job at creating quite the beautiful ending. Despite its title "Scum's Wish", the people in this series have really learnt from their mistakes and are becoming better, stronger people.

Moca seems very confident and happy now. And was she beautiful in that dress of hers. Truly like a princess. Mugi isn't worth it for Moca. She deserves far better, someone who can appreciate how earnest and sincere she can be.

Even Akane is changing. And only Kanai-sensei can do that. I think what she did at the end with Hanabi was less about her twisted sense of schadenfreude and more of a real, sincere statement. A statement of peace, I guess, and that for once in her life she's making this decision sincerely, even if she is still going to cheat on him... baby steps.

It was nice seeing Ecchan refreshed too.

And Hanabi now has friends besides Ecchan! And she was really kind turning down that guy Moriyama. She's really grown.

I can't figure Mugi out really. What he's been doing, and why he did what he did to Hanabi.

That was a beautiful ending, something I would not have expected from this series in the beginning. But those last 5 minutes were simply beautiful.

I am not 100% sure on what the point of the story was, or why they didn't get together in the end if they didn't want to let each other go, but while I figure it out I can say it was still... beautiful.

This series I believe is underrated. At first, I was going to give it a 7. It's actually a 7.5 for me, but was closer to 7. But after this ending, it's closer to 8, so that's what I'm giving it.

Did not regret seeing this series at all, especially in the beginning and definitely at the end.

It's a good ending for the protagonist, however, coul have been more clearly and not enigmatic.
The other characters makes me angry, specially Teacher Akane, that girl has a place reserved in hell.

That was a lot better than what I thought it was going to be, considering the other anime that it gets compared to (namely School Days and Domestic na Kanojo). My only gripe would be how contrived it got, but this anime was a brilliant observation of human nature and desire at it's worst. A very classy and well made attempt at such an uncomfortable and pitying narrative. Fantastic ending as well. 9/10.

Pretty good ending, it fits the shows themes and general tone, and the ending also provided some closure around the questions of love the show raised. However, this is really just kinda an uninteresting story arc by itself. Not to say this show is bad, it's just I don't think there's enough to these characters outside of how they are in romantic situations for me to really care. I mean, I don't rate the show any worse for it, but the disappointment at things not being as good as they seem is not just relevant to love. I mean, this is exactly how I expected and wanted this anime to end, but something about it ending this way just feels bizarre. It's probably just because I can't really relate to any of the characters, but I mean, idk. probably because they're all young and like feeling stuff. I wish there was more to this story, but it would've become (even more) depressingly realistic if it kept going. I liked the show a lot, but it really just feels like a watered down version of real life, and I think stories, anime/manga especially, work the best when you take realistic elements and magnify them to unrealistic levels so you can make more poignant points about said realistic thing; otherwise you should just write nonfiction. Anyways, banger series, really liked it 9/10

Well, that ending really hurt. I decided to drop this series a few years ago, and now I came back to finish it.

Man, I'm gonna need a good comedy anime after this.

I think this is as positive of an ending we could get. I'm glad Hanabi and Mugi didn't end up together. Would've been a bit cliche, and I feel there's too much baggage between them now. Both characters need to find someone new and positive in their lives. That guy who asked out Hanabi was nice. It seems she sorta turned him down, but the way it played out, I feel that later down the line when Hanabi has settled a bit more, she might give him a chance.

Update: so I found out there was a spin-off called Scum’s Wish decor. *sigh*. This was a really good, bittersweet ending but of course things have to be added to it. Feels like it was done due to the complaints of people who didn’t like this ending. I’m just gonna view in my head as this episode being the definitive ending.

Great ending for the anime I think, feels much more fleshed out and a bit more positive than the manga. Came here because of Mengo's work in Oshi No Ko and Scum's Wish didn't disappoint, even though it's a very dark, gut-wrenching story for the characters. The manga ending felt darker and I guess that's where the fan complaints came from.

Ending feels realistic because let's be honest here, how many people find their true love in high school? Hanabi's absolutely correct in that she and Mugi needed to reach adulthood and maturity, and rediscover love again, most likely with someone else although I hope they stay in contact as friends. The ending was fine but still difficult to watch because the show/manga was utterly devoid of happiness. For disgruntled fans Mengo did eventually ship Hanabi and Mugi in Kuzu no Honkai Decor.

As for Akane and Kanai, I'm sorry but Akane will absolutely cheat. A lepoard doesn't change its spots and Akane already said she hated boring men, and Kanai is a walking example of a socially awkward dork. Akane is probably going through a life phase (If you read Kuzu no Honkai Decor, she has a child) where parental responsibility and 'guilt' hangs over her, as well as all the exhausting busy work a newborn can bring. But she remains an incredibly attractive woman, and her previous manipulative, narcissistic behaviour and lack of self-control (motive) will send her back to her cheating ways. Once she returns to the workplace after maternity leave and she starts getting lots of male attention (opportunity) she will cheat. I just hope they don't do it in the family home, and that Kanai has the family assets protected.

Why did Kanai marry Akane? A fool's love and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of hitting the big leagues with a hot wife giving their babies great genes, and the (minuscule) chance that she will not cheat with much more attractive men/boys in her lifetime.

With regards to Akane, the vast majority of the world will never get to personally know incredibly attractive women - And let me tell you, Kuzu no Honkai is correct in that unlimited adoration from simp males from a very young age will absolutely bring out the shallow narcissist in them, and many lack empathy, humbleness and they only think about themselves, much of it about status, fame and material wealth. Many go do modelling or chase fame in showbiz, many will go chase sugar daddies (i.e. Roppongi Girls) and some, like Akane, likes to play the man/boyeater by pulling the heartstrings of hopelessly naive (and cute) young school boys. You rarely see this elsewhere in the West because of strict laws and dreadful pay for teachers in the US, as well as stuff like obesity, but this could very well be a thing in Japan with cram schools and private tutors everywhere, and teachers do have a certain "sensei" status. Think of Mary Kay Letourneau - she's really the only one who got caught (as to illustrate that it definitely happens) but in the vast majority of undetected cases, young horny teenage boys ain't going to snitch.

Our heroin finally get a normal confession, and she answer it with decent too..
Ecchan just get in the way for our heroine to get a new or better relationship..
And she appear out of the blue after so long..
"Mou daijoubu" Is the answer for all this messed up..
And finally they both choose their own way . .
It's kinda sad after all those..
I still want to see sensei-tachi wedding 😑

A surprisingly hopeful ending, I expected trainwrecks all around.

Amazing series! Loved it all - the haunting music, the deep-cutting drama/tragicness, and the terrible personalities, of course.

I really hoped for Hanabi x Ecchan at the end :(

That was the ending I was hoping for but I wasn't expecting it. Glad the author is bold enough to go for the ending that fits the story best rather than the one that is easier and less painful.

The "scum's wish" was the same from the start: a wish for real love. And I actually think the teacher's getting together is critical too to show the viewer exactly what it is Hanabi and Mugi are searching for.

I'm glad Hanabi didn't end up with Kanai. Mugi would have been the right call since they both have the romantic fallout in common. A realistic , mature romantic show, that goes deeper than traditional rom-coms

This ending was both heartbreaking and satisfying. Mugi and Hanabi didn’t end up together, but that’s how we know they both grew.

Hanabi found her answer by doing things the right way, while Mugi took a rougher path. In the end, they both learned that true happiness comes from being with someone you really love.

7/10

@Asudox late reply, but i feel like they all were at one point.

@ending
I really was on the fence if i want to finish this when i was halfway through. I kinda expected it all go to hell after it went darker each episode.
But then suddenly even akane made some character development and in the end i kinda feel like this is the perfect ending.

9/10. If it had one or two more episodes it would be a 10/10.
