You know the one im talkin' about, the uncomfortably realistic rape scene.

This might be poking the bee's nest since so much of anime is sexual assault and such but oh my god, I got so creeped out and skeeved I couldn't finish the episode.

I really just wanted Shimoneta to be a funny, occsionally deep anime about sexuality and dick jokes, I watched a bit further to see if they made a statement on the scene but they seemed to treat it as a joke, which ain't right.

I mean, fucking Ayame threatened to throw him to the metaphorical wolf that is anna to rape him again, that isn't okay!!!

Please tell me they redeem themselves, I initially loved Shimoneta because of how delightful it began and now I can't even look at it, ahhhhhhhh

Oh boy it is just a downward spiral and Anna sinking into madness. It is one of the most funniest animes I ever watched. But my humor is fuuuuuucked

I don't think I can take someone seriously when they call any scene in Shimoneta uncomfortably realistic.

I honestly found Anna's sexual assaults uncomfortable and wrong but besides that I really liked the rest of the series. It was a really funny comedy to me (I've been seen as someone who "has no sense of humor" so that might say something) and I liked the message it sent of what would happen if we were limited on the sexual things we could see. I know Anna is sexually repressed and that's why she assaults him and that would totally happen in real life if society was put in that situation, but I found it disgusting to watch.

I mean everyone has their own opinion, so I won't say anything about that, but it wasn't THAT bad...

Yeah, Anna's parts made me REALLY uncomfortable, it's so jarring from the series' lighthearted tone and it has a sort of "Haha it's funny if a guy is raped, right everyone ;)" sort of feel? I usually tolerate rape jokes but holy fuck, with the way they presented Anna, it wasn't really framed as a joke but went one like it expects people to take it as one.

Actually, I think that scene really showed the criticism against censorship and the dangers lying ahead of that quite well. It was hard and cringy to watch, sure, but exactly the over the top style is what makes Shimoneta Shimoneta. At least here it is shown that the Main character really doesnt want it and feels uncomfortable, compared to other Ecchi series which are even more cringeworthy as they dont even realize the problem. Thats something I believe in setting and theme was done quite correctly.

Well the thing was, it wasn't cringy it was really uncomfortable and they still treated it as a minor inconvenience other then him being deeply traumatised. I've seen my fair share of ecchi, hentai, etc etc but it seemed to come out of left field for me, I think they could of had their anti-censorship message without a rape scene that was blown off as "what are you, a baby??? she just sexually assaulted you!"

The point is. It shows the way how a society which has no idea about sexuality and topics like rape would react or in a way not react to this attemped rape. It is in my opinion cringy and hard to watch, but this message goes far deeper in your mind when you are appalled. The way it is treated later, is not really good, I agree with you there, but it shows the world the characters live in, as well as it is part of the theme, not to be too deep. It is after all considered to be a fun show. Thought it does fail in this scene. But I would still say, that this way to critisize censorship is in fact working

Okay that's a point and I would of loved it if the episode or one right after basically had someone like him basically saying it traumatized him and actually explain it and everyone can work on how shitty it is, something of that nature.

Tanukichi Okuma is a textbook pickle-kisser that is terrified of the female body and sex in general. I get annoyed seeing such beta-males.

For the record, I thought you meant when she tried to get him to drink a BOTTLE of her "Love Nectar". Made me lose my appetite.

But you mean the rape scene. I didn't drop the show, but it bothered me that it wasn't treated with the same gravity that a male forcing himself on a female would be. Men CAN be raped, and despite him getting a boner, that doesn't mean he wanted to have sex with Anna then. She was FORCING him; it was not consensual. You can get aroused by looking at flies mating, but that doesn't mean you want to have sex right then. (Maybe go rub one out, but I digress.)

Then again, look at the show this is: sensitivity to issues like this isn't going to be one of its strong suits.

Anna tries something similar again later (ep 6 or 7 I think), but they are outside and interrupted once again.

I don't blame you for dropping it. I agree that it was downplayed, but as I said: it's Shimoneta.

Quit crying, there is way worse shit in anime. If you are getting offended over an anime you must not watch a lot of tv.

Late to the party but as people pointed out. Because of the lack of sexual awareness Anna was basically so shelter she had no idea what she was doing ess even sexual. That's the whole point of the show. boundaries were grossed because no one knows what the boundaries are in that society. They are sexual blind and don't know anything. She basically the monster and living embodiment of that sexual repression and sexually ignorants society has breeds but a very extreme example of it new. the whole purpose of the movement of the show is why Sex Ed and a healthy relationship with sexuality is needed. It's mentioned on the show as well about how painfully naive Anna is to her own body and actions as well. And the fact that her father hired a bodyguard who isn't correcting her behavior as bad also shows just how on the dark Anna will stay. Of course that scene was just put in mainly for ecchi points but it makes sense within the realm of the story as well.

What, do you like pickles? What made me drop this show was the main male character. I got sick of his simpy whimpy limp dick ass acting like sex and nudity is as horrible to experience as murder.
