Ladies and gentlemen......That's how you do a plot twist!!! :D I didn't see that coming but now that i think about it, all the clues and signs were there!!!! It explains so much about why the older brother in the past was so understanding and the younger brother have shitty attitude while the older brother in the present time has such a shitty attitude and the younger brother have become understanding. Here i thought, the older brother just grew up to have a shitty attitude. It also explains why the older brother in the past have a different guardian spirit than the one in the present time.

Wait, so the only reason that older brother looks younger than younger brother now is because he's been a spirit of the dead this entire time? So it's not like he reincarinated, he's just straight up dead and his younger brother grew up?

That's exactly right. Which is why the younger looking older brother was being sucked into the hole in the previous episodes because he was a spirit. If he was alive, he would not have been pulled.

Unfortunately I knew the entire time.... When I first found the anime I found it on YouTube. And all the even episodes were bunched together... When I finally started it in order I thought I was watching a different season... But it was great

At first, I was completely in denial. I went back to the earlier episodes and confirmed that the shorter brother in the orange outfit had called out "older brother" to the Fire General. I thought it was a plot hole, but then again, I remembered the older brother's death wish is to be the younger brother in the after-life.

Ahhhhhhh, that was done so well.

What the hell happened there?!!! The older brother who has Yu Jin (who sacrificed himself to unseal the ancient Wei weapon) as a Guardian Spirit died and became a spirit himself, remains young and has a mecha summon now, while the younger brother who has no known psychic powers before turns out to have a Warrior Body that possesses multiple Guardian Spirit, foremostly Xu Chu (he is supposed to have more than one!), he's all grown up now and he's the current Requiem General of Rakshasa Street! They seem to have exchanged sibling places and names (to me at least, so I could be wrong) too, to worsen the confusion with the alternating episode stories and timelines.

Yeah I thought that was weird too initially but it makes sense if he feels remorse for failing to ultimately protect him in the end anyway. I still think he was a very-hard-to-follow example of a good brother, considering all the trials and sacrifices he went through to care and protect him starting at a very, very young age.

Damn I thought my head is about to explode for a moment there! ROFTLMAO
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

Awesome episode, I did not see this plot twist coming and the way it was executed was great.

Ay I finished this a couple weeks back and that twist killed me! Question tho, did they switch names? I never heard them referring to each other with names in flashbacks but there was that one scene, when that dude was reporting the brothers to the police, where Chinese characters appeared by both of them, and I'm assuming that was their names? Idk tho.

I know I'm late to the party, replying more than half a decade after this was aired (lol), but I felt I also had to post somewhere about that incredibly executed plot twist...

Dayum, the whole episode itself was already a tearjerker with their dialogue about hatred and family, but then they wrapped it up with that revelation that they are not who we thought they were in the present time!

That said, after all that happened to them, the then-younger-now-older brother hasn't changed his personality overall, hasn't he? Lol. You would've thought that he could've reflected on his ways somewhat and mellowed a bit more over the years...

This plot twist was huge and came out of nowhere. To say I was blindsided is an understatement, it felt like the plot twist from The Sixth Sense, but twice as huge. Damn. This is how you do it. Wow. Suddenly everything else makes a lot more sense now.

It was a good plot twist, but I still feel bad for the original older brother, he did so much and went through a lot and it basically amounted to nothing. The younger brother keeping the same personality even though he grew up also makes me sigh a little
