As a beginner, I'm not really surprised that Ami suffered more fatigue from this adventurous ride.

In the meantime, I think she's learned a lot about cycling. Seeing her in more casual clothes is also adorable :3

Next week, secret part time job. Has to save up for a light road bike I guess, now that she's realized how hard Pontakun is making her work.

So Ami learned a few things maybe she will get a proper bike now instead of the one she is currently using.
Her current bike just isn't fit for long distances isn't wasn't made for that.

As a cyclist, folding bikes don't really fit for long rides. You will get tired easily because you will make more cadence than mountain bikes/road bikes which has more larger circumference tires. Ami will learn more and more as time goes by.

Very good episode, First half was pretty sad but the second half was really nice.

Looks like Ami's muscles cramped up, Those can be really hard to deal with, Especially if it's the first time.
Felt really sad when Ami kept trying to tell the others that she could still go on, Bath scene was also really sad. :(

Really like how supportive Aoi is towards Ami, Inviting her on that trip was a nice idea.
I like the new biker girl, Hopefully we see more of her. Indy is quite the playful dog. xD

Nice to see Ami learning that Road Bikes are important towrads being a cyclist, They're designed taking into account all the needs of a cyclist.
Loved how Ami stayed positive throughout the episode and the ending with her saying Cycling is fun was really sweet. :D

Next episode, A job to earn money for the road bike. Should be a nice change of pace from all the cycling we've had.

That's right Ami, even though you got cramped muscle and failed at day one... You need to try more and give your best.

This is turning out to be better than I imagined. It seemed like another meme show like K-On, but they actually even had some "drama" going on this episode lol.

I worry for Pontakun's future. Looks like Ami is going to get a road bike based on the cover and the preview.
Also poor Ami, every episode it seems she becoming broken and bankrupt.

Holy shit that scene of Ami being paralyzed was hard to watch in my opinion, though I like that this isn't just going to be super happy all the time. Perhaps that's what makes it stand out from its other moeblob bretheren.

Both of these. I thought this episode was particularly good. It was worth the wait, but I did miss this show last week. One can appreciate the overall message of Long Riders, but I bet Japanese cycle shops love this show ;).

On the issue of leg muscle cramps, I can't watch that scene without cringing. I have recurring muscle cramps in my legs that always occur at night. It's like someone is burning my leg off.

Actas you can do it! I forgive you for the delay...
Muscle cramps are one of the most annoying pain that you can experience!
The 5th main character was introduced and also a road rider owner! very llight compared to Pontakun!
4/5.

lol Actas delay again... not surprised.
New girl & new Indy seem fun.
Ami don't fake being rich girl when u're not. Sell Ponta & buy a 2nd hand roadbike, they're way cheaper than brand new... or just work a lot.
Cramps really suck, come at the most random times. More electrolytes & balanced vitamins will help.

I was sad about the delay for this episode but considering this is one of the best series I've seen to incorporate 3D animation with the traditional animation in a long while. It's not super intrusive compared to other series where its way too obvious and kind of takes me out of the series. Also I'm super happy to hear about Sentai Filmworks picking up the license for this in some capacity. I'm hoping for a different streaming service to get this so I don't have to only watch this via Daisuki and I can wait a week more for a new episode.

The prices have been shown throughout the series. You get get a decent road bike for under $1000 if you can find them used. My tt bike was $2400, then all the needed things like tire upgrades ($40 a piece), a repair kit ($20), water cages (about $10-$20). The clothing itself will also vary on the style. I bought a pair of black riding shorts and a cool weather pants and that was about $150. Also you'll noticed on her folding bike she still has flats. Everyone else has Shimano clipless. The shoes will run her an added $100-125 plus another $50 for the pedals and clips. Yes, it's not a cheap sport.

This is me on my bike at a triathlon event in Ohio. TT (or tris bikes) are designed a bit differently than road bikes.

Folding bikes are commuter bikes. I'm quite surprised she's able to keep up and go such distances without bonking out earlier.

Ami's growth, it seems coherent and even psychology has developed quite well, given his background, however, speaking precisely of this, you had to feature the character of Ami, before his passion for cycling; the result would have been more convincing in the character building level. Too bad for the quality of drawings and animations, very poor at times.

Cramps aren't pleasant to deal with, especially at night when you're sleeping and then they suddenly occur.
When it's hot, meteorologist always say to stay hydrated because it's easy to lose bodily fluids.
I don't know if chugging down that cold water had any effect on Ami's cramps. Usually I drink cold water in small sips.

Seems like they will be postponing the mountain ride for a later date. Still, it's quite a remarkable achievement for Ami. Riding on a folding bike up a mountain is quite impressive, especially for a newbie like her. I think she should focus on improving her body's performance before going back up the hill.

That dog lol.

What? This was delayed? I never knew that.

Anyway, felt bad for Ami. I experience muscles cramps before and its really a pain. Its time for her to get a road bike. Pontakun isn't for long riding. I guess the next episode's title tells Ami will be doing a part time job to afford one. No need to sell pontakun as she can be used to travel to school.

This anime is such a chill to watch. Really relaxing. Just sitting down comfortably watching while sipping my favorite drink.

Hopefully no more delays.

She needed more than just water. All the water would do is rehydrate her. She lost a lot salts and minerals also. A sports drink (like Heed or Infinit) would help replenish that. They should have also had a salt stick like BASE electrolyte salt. Let's also not forget nutrition while biking such distances. The GU-type gel that Hinako gave Ami in the second episode was good, but there also need some proteins.

I've learned a lot about long distance biking over the past few years as I was training for a 70.3 triathlon. These little things needed to be added to the series. Don't want to give anyone that idea that all you need is water on long rides.

well looks like she's finally gonna get a road bike which is one of the reasons she was having such a hard time not to mention she just suddenly just jumped in to it but each ep she learns more and more and that's why im loving it so much

looking forward to next ep and her getting a much better bike but yeah i know how she feels though when it comes to a lot of sports things are super expensive but well worth it

Leg cramps suck, and hers looked especially painful from that reaction.

After learning it they were in college, I wondered why instead of high school or something, but I guess it explains the amount of money they can spend as well as how they are able to take such long trips without asking their parents or anything. Also, trouble with doge.

I really need to go to Japan sometime in the future.

Not only because I love everything they do with video games and anime but also to compare their summer to the one I have in Australia.

Bike shorts are specially made so that you don't wear underwear underneath. So the skirt is a superfluous purchase. Otherwise you might as well wear any dang pair of shorts you already own at home.

It's like the equivalent of wearing underwear under your swimsuit if this was Free!.

The only feasible reason I could think of for Ami to do that is she was on her period. But the other 3 girls were doing the same, did their cycles sync up or something? At least Saki is wearing hers properly.

The cycling skirt is for modesty. That's all. Many women are embarrassed by the prospect of having their derriere displayed while riding, so cycling skirts are now available. I honestly haven't seen any hereabouts (NE Ohio), so it may be a more Japanese thing.

The anime specifically mentioned that she wanted a skirt because her panty lines where showing through the bike shorts.
Panties that she shouldn't have been wearing in the first place.
If she wore the shorts properly like Saki did, then there wouldn't be a need to require modesty.

Yeah she isn't supposed to wear anything under those biking shorts lel but the purpose of a skirt is I guess to make lady cyclists feel less "naked"?

Seems like the moral of this episode is "the expensive bikes and equipement are better for you". Can't really agree with such approach but it could be worse, like in Kamakura Koukou Jintensha-bu.

Other than that the first part was interesting in how we were shown what happens when you go overboard with cycling, yet I still have to question if those other two girls are even sane when they took her to such hilly ride as beginner. And driving up the hills is not even fun, it may be challenge, yes, but it's totally unsuit for casual riders who just want to enjoy the scenery and ride.

The protagonist has so far proved a bit complaining, even if her way of doing it is very funny and nice, but at least this time there was a sort of brake, beyond which we did not go, I like this. The first part of the episode was appreciable for its serious trait, putting a barrier to the carelessness with which someone might believe that riding a bike, beyond a certain scope, is simplistic: as in everything, you arrive in stages and after having experienced , with tenacity and regularity. An episode that is not surprising for its originality, given that the story is evolving according to a predictable logic. The basic reasons for approaching the world of bikes are quite credible and allow the narration to take place in a more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, thanks also to the protagonist, always cheerful and crystalline in her way of approaching others. . The only flaw are the drawings, the sets, and the animations.

"A brand new world..." Indeed. Now it's time to buy a road bike, but first Ami needs some money. Those bikes aren't cheap.

"Bicycles... are so much fun!" That's right. :)
