| This chapter made me fall into despair, completely. Seeing how Nanami suffered, her screams of agony, hurt a lot, see how the whole class fell into despair... And see how Kamukura cried, I could not take it anymore. Shit. F*cking Junko. |

| Finished Episode ten of despair arc. have to say first that i was pretty pissed off all day because a game i was playing for over 20 hours (pathfinder:Kingmaker) got regular save file loading issues and now i cant play it anymore because any progress i make keeps failing to load. add to that that i am having electricity problems(literally cut in the middle of watching this episode and had to watch the rest on my laptop,and it is still out) and you can understand what mood i was in when i started this episode,and the episode certainly didnt help my mood... -so the first thing we see is junko outboxed the ultimate boxer,although i guess that was because a trillion guys were helping her. a little unbelievable,but not an issue. her using the photos against him to shame him and threaten him was a pretty damn good scene too. just what that a****** deserved. -Gundham and Nekomaru came from a pretty random door in the path. how did they get to that area from that door exactly? >_> -well,f***. my last hope for a chisa plot twist died out. what pure and utter crap. how is this written by the same guy who wrote the amazing DR1??!! -i was atleast right about Junko,not Izuru,killing Chiaki to push the rest of the class into despair. -although it is surprising that this happened before the group suicide. -a few nice game references with the court and Monokuma and the punishment time CGs. would have preferred monokuma to talk though. also,Nanami was put in a place that resembles a typical dungeon crawler game,which was a nice touch. -so the whole group,except tsumiki(and arguably Nagito),fell into despair by watching the Nanami video. this not only feels so wrong,but is a big plothole. take a look at this: https://image.myanimelist.net/ui/OK6W_koKDTOqqqLDbIoPAo2WXRheuNH0cUXDFmOWMZ4 this is a clear statement from the game about how they were converted,which is the exact opposite from here. Here,only Tsumiki(and arguably Nagito)were converted like this. the rest just watched a torturous brainwashing video. like,even Chiaki is more believable since her brain centers that recieve and interpret feelings were played with so she would receive pleasure from despair. even that didnt happen to the rest. -that torture was brutal. it was even a little heavy for me. i quite enjoyed the student council and Chisa scenes,but i felt a bit uncomfortable here. i guess it was because of the emotional relationship we built with chiaki throughout DR2 and DR3. -so we get a confirmation that Izuru's memories were deleted. that is surprising and a minor plothole,considering that the scientists listed the things they took from hajime and his memories werent one of them. also, Izuru had his first emotional reaction. -Chiaki still being alive and able to move after all that didnt feel believable. The scene was pretty well done and sad though, so it achieved what it set out to do. dont know what to think of this episode. the things it did well it did very well,but the things it didnt do well it did atrociously. also,just for fun,how do you guys think the 77ers would have been converted if Junko converted them one by one like the original canon clearly states? my thoughts: -Mikan and Nagito: Like the anime,with a touch of appreciation for mikan before that like what she talked about in DR2 -Fuyuhiko and Peko: Sister's death -Camera girl: confrontation with Fuyuhiko followed by Junko offering protection if she follows -Gundam: Torturing his animals in front of him -Teruteru: Using his mom in some way,probably kidnapping first to force him to follow then someone killing her in front of him -Ultimate Imposter: Something to do with Ryota that is half of them,will think of the other half sometime later. tell me your thoughts too guys! Edit: BTW,the idea that was presented in the chisa scene was great if there was no brainwashing involved. introduce an "ultimate surgeon"who works for Junko and have him modify their sensor receptors to turn them into full sadists who enjoy people's pain. that+junko making them despair and hate the world would have been the perfect solution,no brainwashing needed. Sadists dont need brainwashing to hurt,and despaired people dont need brainwashing to harm who they think causes their despair,and threatened people dont need brainwashing to abide by the orders the threatner gave them. combine all 3 and you have the perfect ROD recipe. and in this scenario there was no brainwashing and they could have resisted the impulses and the threats but didnt. |

| What kind of fuckery is this? Disgusting. This is nothing more than plain and simple torture porn. Danganronpa executions were always creative and over the top, but this is just so cheap. Just like that class killing each other, it's just trying to be as edgy as it can. The brainwashing thing is stupid and a retcon to the game and strong guy being persuaded by Junko is stupid too. "Yeah, let this girl who made a bunch of students brutally kill each other just do as she wants, as long as they don't know I'm gay", seriously? |
| Poor Chiaki! She just wanted to play video games. Definitely the most brutal episode yet. So, Sakakura was in love with Munakata? That only makes what happened to him in Mirai-hen even more tragic. I understand the brainwashing, but it's rather cliche and convenient. Definitely could've been done better. I didn't think they'd actually kill Chiaki, but they did. She took quite the beating and still lasted pretty long. That scene with Hajime at the end was perfect. |

DR always had heavy brainwashing themes. Kamukura, DR1 memory wipe, DR0 first memory wipe but Junko made it back alone from her alter Ego Ryoko, Mind controle helmets from DRAnotherEpisode, DR2 again memory wipe trough the NeoWorldProgamm. There was always brainwashing in some form and it was always explained and somewhat logical for this universe. BUT this was never mentioned. It is not the case of Kamukuras killing game. The thing that Junko lied and used this was logical and in the fandom always suspect because Kamukura was the Übermensch so why would he participate in the first place with his power he could escape easily. This time we have so much hints so much information about the entire cast their backround and the whole incidient itself. And all for nothing? Forgotten and never used? This is not the level of writing/plot twist i know from Kodaka that always had a suprise a shocker a mindfuck. This is just meh.....out of context. Expected but not logical. It is just sad that so much build up for certan events will never happen or happened because of the evil Anime & the evil book that makes you despair. Exactly, this anime and Mirai-hen are total garbage and I do not consider them canon. |

| god damnnnnnn that was just too intense :(( thought chiaki would have been killed right away after all those spikes but they just had to torture her more and let her live long enough to talk to kamukura + start crying and saying that she doesn't want to die. literally going to throw myself off a bridge rn :((( |

| Chiaki was too good for everyone and everything oh my god. Both of her executions are the ones that genuinely affected me. Izuru .... sad boy..... I am feeling despair. Thanks Junko. |
| Wow so that's how Nanami dies.. That was incredibly graphic and devastating. It was also really interesting to see Izuru react sadly to her death. Is he regaining memory? If not, how come he's had no emotions towards really anything so far? |

| Chiaki!!! I should've expected this, since she was just an NPC in SDR2, but still... The despair in this episode T^T Ughhh why can Nagito laugh at the despair of his classmate dying while looking so cute at the same time?? Gotta love the Nagitoservice in this anime. |

| I don't know how can I explain this but, I don't hate this episode it's just I hated seeing Nanami Chiaki died twice. It's so frustrating, if we could just get an alternate ending for her and her friends... |
| Damn no other death in a piece of fiction has hit me as hard as Chiaki's. She is my favorite character alongside Kyoko. Chiaki was such a sweet girl who almost feels out of place in the world of Danganronpa. Like she's meant to be from a SoL romcom anime but got caught up here. Her experience and death was so difficult to watch and I felt so bad for her that I wish I could've reached through the screen and saved her. I never tear up when watching movies, shows etc. but this was heart-wrenching. I had heard before watching this anime that Chiaki's character was tragic, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. She went through the worst of all the Danganronpa characters. At least with the future executions in the killing games and such, most of them died pretty quickly, and they did kind of murder another person. But Chiaki was completely innocent yet she went through the worst. Chiaki is so admirable though. The fact that she went through all that pain and suffering and still powered on even till the very end with her last breath, because of how she felt and how strong her resolve was. She's such a strong character. I'd kind of liked Junko even through most of the games (just as a fictional character) but after that Chiaki killing, I hate her. |
