seriously, why the hate? why soo many comparison with barakamon? why soo many people dissapointed?

as manga reader, it was adapted almost perfecftly and really catch the manga atmosphere... i don't see any particulary flaws in adaptation...

i also don't understand why soo many people comparing with barakamon... it was nothing like barakamon like many people mentioned already... did people come to this series without know anything?

i also don't understand the first episode hate.. it obvious that that part directed to original (source) fans was just like osomatsu san episode was, which will you won't find funny if you don't know what they are reffering to and what they make fun of...

There's hate for this?

I came in like other people expecting sort of a prequel to Barakamon and finding a different, but also entertaining show. Didn't expect it to be a comedy but it's good in its own way.

I haven't seen any hate but judging from the score (which is nearly a full point lower than its manga) that people probably weren't super impressed by it I guess. I love it so far though and wouldn't change a thing

It's set six years before the events of Barakamon and is about Handa the calligraphy artist (or to-be in this case). Handa's life after he was imprisoned for disrespecting a famous calligrapher was very interesting and hilarious so the events that lead to him wanting to become a calligrapher in the first place should logically also be interesting and hilarious, but it doesn't seem like people are too satisfied with it. It's interesting that the Handa-kun manga is only 0.17 points below the score of Barakamon while its adaption is 1.19 points below its sequel.

I don't like the misunderstanding theme, it's pretty annoying.

I agree on this. Just not my type of comedy. Episode 3 was the best, but only cause they really hammered in the comedy skits. Only some did the job.

Because it's not Barakamon Zero. People have hated for less, it's really not all that surprising. Just ignore them and enjoy what you enjoy.

Only around 900 more people have scored the Barakamon manga compared to Handa-kun's manga. And only around 2,500 people total. The Barakamon anime on the other hand has been scored by over 100,000 more people than Handa-kun's, I imagine that's part of it.

Anyway for what Handa-kun is it's a perfectly pleasant if forgettable comedy. But it lacks the soothing atmosphere and emotional resonance of Barakamon. It also lacks Naru, Hina, and most of Barakamon's other outstanding supporting cast. The supporting cast it does have is, again, perfectly pleasant if forgettable. It's debatable which has better humor, but humor was just one of Barakamon's many charms whereas it's really the only one Handa-kun has. Barakamon was/is also one of the greatest Slice of Life series in recent memory. Handa-kun is just sort of middle of the pack with other comedies similar to it like Sakamoto.

Is it really fair to compare the two...eh, not really, but that's how it goes. Personally though it is a bummer that this got made before/instead of Barakamon Season 2, for which more than enough material currently exists. I don't hate Handa-kun though, and intend to watch til the end.

Exactly this.

I love Barakamon as much as the next fan but I went into Handa-kun knowing it was going to be something else and... well, I think the first episode sucked (because the comedy of the anime-original part just wasn't similar to the comedy in the manga) but now? I love it. I can see that the actual comedy from the manga is indeed reminiscent of Barakamon, with its light mood and focus on character comedy, and who doesn't love Handa? So I guess I was in the hate bandwagon after the first episode, but after three episodes I can't even remember what that hate was like.

I'm enjoying Handa-kun overall, but I gotta admit this wasn't what I expected (didn't read the manga, came here because I loved Barakamon), but I'm still not disappointed. However, I can't stop comparing this to Sakamoto Desu Ga? and in my opinion, it pales in comparison, but that's just my opinion, not a fact.
I don't really see hate around it, only people that expected something like Barakamon and got disappointed. Time will tell if this is going to stand out, gonna give it 2 more episodes before rating it as an inferior Sakamoto.

I watched Barakamon but I still love Handa-kun. In fact, I think Handa-kun is actually funnier in some aspects.

Mainly just people pissed that rather than a proper prequel of the same feel good Slice Of Life vein, they instead got a feel bad Comedy anime. It's a shame too because if they gave it a chance they probably would have found it hilarious, it's actually quite high tier as far as comedy anime generally go.

fully agree. I LOVED Barakamon, and consider it to be the perfect relaxing anime, but this was really good too. Personally,I think Barakamon is a 10/10 and this is a 9/10.

I think its mostly just from people being upset that it wasn't like barakamon, I don't know if I knew it was a prequel or not when I started it but I loved it more than barakamon, probably just because its more my genre and the opposite is probably true for the hate. The score must have suffered because of this sadly.

I don't think it was very good but I really did like it, I just started Barakamon after it though and that is like a masterpiece so far so idk I mean yeah it definitely isn't up to those standards

yeah i think this anime is unjustly hated on. its a SPINOFF to barakamon; people are forgetting that. its more or less a comedy and not as much of a slice of life. i believe people need to stop comparing it to the original tbh and give it a chance.
