| The MAL entry says this mess came to the surface in 1993(?). It looks like it was made in the late 1970s. The quality of the story is about on par with some of the other junk I've seen which was made in the mid 80s. The miserable attempt to make a political statement at the end took my grade for this one down even further. |

| I truly hated how the main female character, Mizuho, was handled. Although, she is one of the 3 Hon-Ran, she was either shown as eye-candy (she was naked during a large part of the OVA), damsel in distress, doe-eyed lovew interest, or nearly useless (like the fight against the dragon). Yes, she did give her power for Shin's last move, but she barely fought. Asides from that, I have too many gripes about Hon Ran, but this was trash. 2/10 |

| @deguy @DanTaylor03 I'd really like to see your reference of 70s anime that look like this to say this look 70s, this look exactly like late 80s and early 90s OVAs, character design, colors, a bunch of blood and nudity, all on point with the time, nothing like the 70s - but if you ever saw anything from the 70s that looks remotely like this, please do tell. |

| @PxHC No offence but I have no recollection of writing that observation (it was six years ago after all), let alone what I had in mind then as a reference to 70’s anime. I kind of suspect the artwork in this one reminded me of the first Galaxy Express 999 movie, which in 2017 would have been something I had watched about 37 years before and I hadn’t rewatched since. In other words the comparison was more one of impressions rather than critical evaluation. Most other anime I watched in the 70’s were TV productions whose contents have long faded from my memory. …Though there is one punchline from a story in Sazae-san I still can recall. |
