DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty decent last episode, it was a bit less good than I first expected but in general it was still pretty nice! Let's see what the movie will offer but all in all a pretty decent short ova! |

| The race wasn't much of a race so much as a deathmatch. It was a fun show. I wouldn't mind more. The first episode was the most interesting though. 5/10 (average) |

| One of the better car anime for sure, specially when explaining techniques and such... more so than when doing the same with parts |
| My 222nd completed series chronologically. For the record, I extended it a 6/10 rating. |
| Enjoyed the first two episodes, with its focus on two competitive people in Souichi and Lisa having to develop a more agreeable dynamic with each other as coworkers through racing and comparing their respective credos; but I felt less immersed in the episodes following that, as they either followed conventional episodic plot synopses, or created questionable tension by introducing some generic thugs that only generated intrigue through physically impeding the protagonists. Joe and his cronies constantly referenced their antics as being a "race" or competition, but without following a single convention of what a race is, besides driving a car really fast. They just got in the way of the éX-Drivers when they were trying to do their job, and very well could've caused them grievous injury through their ganging up on them and slamming their cars off the road. Rather than following through to race Joe at the gasoline plant, I think it would've been more original and/or resourceful if this race meet-up were arranged to be a police ambush, with them being presumably given some of those futuristic, modified adhesive pistols to disable the gang's cars with if they tried to make a run for it. On the other hand, this universe may not have any law enforcement, let alone an effective police force, so perhaps using this episode to demonstrate Souichi's perceptive compassion for even the more anti-social sorts was the only real option. |
