Very nice episode, the match was pretty intense. The most suspensful scene to me though was when Satoru kept listing the all the moves Shion's father should make in order to win. That bastard is so damn clever, but he's gonna regret for messing with Shion I'm sure. :D

And yet, I think he was actually being a bit sincere in the very last few seconds of the episode after talking to Yasuoka. It was the nicest face I've seen from him.

My first though after the match was: Shion is watching too much Kaiji :p

Great Episode. It was amusing to see Shion "growing up" and it was fairly a surprise to see Satoru being sincere in the last seconds.

Brilliant episode. I figured Shion would win for story progression, but how she would was the question. And I thought it was done really well. I loved seeing the reasoning they went through during the match.

Another nice episode, I especially like the flashback scenes between Shion and her adoptive father. Chibi-Shion is über-kawaii! Oy vey, did I just link a German term with a Japanese one? XD In any case, I really like hearing Shion speak and it's rather unfortunate that we don't hear it too often. The flashback scenes seem to fit perfectly with their match and greatly enhance their thinking processes.

While I was expecting Shion to win to advance the story, I was still surprised to see that she did. In my heart of heart, I thought that she would lose, but also knew that she would win. I like how they came around it and I reckon it made sense, after a fashion.

Huh, I think this might be the first time in this series where we do not know what will come in the next episode – meaning no cliff-hanger, so the next episode will be a total surprise! I wonder what will happen, where the story the go? Regardless, I'm still looking forward to it.

Glad to see Shion able to learn how to play fast speed/move and hide her body-reaction/weakness.

@Static: LOL, I bet her trick at the end was what she learned from Kaiji ep 18.

Solid episode. Shion finally got her shine. During the flashback when Yasuoka sensei showed little Shion the king piece, I was beginning to think along the 'what ifs' again.

Anyway, the ending with Satoru kind of confused me a bit. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention to the details of people's deaths in this.

jikan no kotaeru - proper title for that match. Really, Satoru shows something other than bitterness throws a new light on his character. Still loving this Anime, which hooked me on epi 1.

Lol, I had exactly the same thoughts as most of you, so my post is pretty much the same as everyone else.

It was a pretty good match. Though we knew Shion would win, it was cool to see a different strategy employed by Shion. I just wish I could fully understand what all the letters and numbers mean when the plays are made.

Satoru intrigued me this episode.

Another intense play . I wish I knew how to play it to understand without the characters explaining all the time xD
Though at first I was thinking that the play was great at the end I was a bit turned off when her dad losed so abruptly~ I believed he had better defense or knew what he was doing and was suprised that in fact he was lost in the last move Oo

But either way , it was really good ^^

That was a great match. Shion finally learns how to use a poker face. Her father looked like a bully in the flashback beating her with just the king.

I agree that this seemed important. His sincerity makes it hard for me to believe that he is the villain, even if he is sincerely unpleasant. ^^

Hani, in contrast appears to be rather duplicitous. He didn't hesitate before casually lying to Saori about the cellphone call, thus making it more plausible to suspect him in my view.

satora seemed almost nice at the end..... is that even possible..... maybe he'll stop blaming himself for his father's death.....

Haha her dad was really surprised with Shion's poker face. That was a good battle.

Dad of the year! xD Now I am hoping for some nice development for Satoru after his conversation with Yasuoka. Satoru was pretty dang badass when he showed them that he could read the game in a very short amount of time. A meijin vs Satoru final would be great.

Seems like Shion is finally taking her place as the main character and showing some growth.

Considering the pacing, I guess this Tournament Arc is the endgame. There hasn't been nearly as much mystery as I expected, but I'm satisfied with the Shogi aspect. Still, if we're going to resolve the murders, then it's going to have to tie into this tournament somehow. If that's the case, Satoru has to be involved somehow.

Was nice to see Shion get a win against a recurring character for the first time. And Shion does seem like the type who would be able to develop an implacable poker face too, even if she's usually more animated. She wouldn't be the first to show new sides during a shogi match, after all.

Satoru's mental shogi was something else. Combined with his sinister demeanour, and it's no wonder he's so adept at the game.
