That boy was a rather accurate visual depiction of a cross between Bobby Hill and Kim Jong Un.

It made me think of a cult; all the kids looked the exact same, doing something resembling a ritual, apparently to please that rabbir that does nothing. One kid gets distracted by a ferret that the rabbit later makes disappear... only for the child to show the rabbit to his father in the end, robably seeking his help in understnading what was going on.
There is nothing terribly wrong with feeling lost, so long as that feeling precedes some plan on your part to actually do something about it. Too often a person grows complacent with their disillusionment, wearing their discomfort like a favorite shirt - Johnny C.

not very inspiring, this feels more like a drawing/animation practice rather than an actual thoughtful effort in animation, like something you'd find in film school lol not bad animation tho, just not fun or impactful or inspiring or really anything. i didn't feel anything watching this other than perhaps boredom

I think the film was meant to portray religion. There were a lot of themes of religion in this and the summary of the animation hints to it as well.

Perhaps the greatest rabbit was the friends we made along the way.

Wada continues his critiques of institutions. I see a few comments about religion or a cult, which is the simplest explanation, but as Nishikata Eiga points out (https://www.nishikata-eiga.com/2012/06/great-rabbit-2012.html), it could be a variety of things (e.g. the government, which is probably more relevant to Japan collectively). Wada explains the vagueness too, noting "Sometimes we even don’t know what we are forced to obey."

Very bizarre movie. I think I get what its director wanted to show to the audience, but the way it was depicted wasn't really inspiring or even clear to the point of stopping thinking more "what the heck?" instead of "what does it mean?". About the overal quality, well... the movie felt more like a test animation done by somebody in art school.
