| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow fuck this episode, not only was every death in these last 2 episode so avoidable and forced but i felt like they gave me the middle finger with the talk between kappei and the alien, are you seriously trying to tell me the big confliction of this show was whether anyone would remember kappei's efforts, god its bad enough that they completely ignore the interesting idea of collateral damage from these fights after about 7 episodes but this finale was just icing on the cake Overall this show was a mess, while it had amazing ideas behind it it fumbled around with all of them, terrible plot structure, clumsy handling of its themes, more deus ex machina than any show i have ever seen, just cause you kill everyone off in the last 2 episodes in stupid ways doesnt change the fact that the 21 episodes before it were nothing but asspulls and plot convienced, non exsistent characters aside from kappei and kozouki(former of which was increasingly annoying and arrogant lacking any proper development with the ladder being a legitimately interesting character that should had been the MC instead) and ultimately a hard to watch show i deeply regret watching. I give this a generous 3/10 |

| While I did like some of the episodes and concept behind it like the villagers getting angry with all the civilian casualties in the giant mecha fights etc I feel like some (not all) of it was badly executed and this final fight... I get it was not supposed to be satisfying but it really wasn't all that satisfying on any levels and then it just ends...with Kappei crying/looking at the sun (?). I still think it was good overall, like a solid 7/10 but I think I had higher expectations for this show than it delivered but I'm not even sure why since all the Tomino Gundam stuff I've seen have been in the lines of me rating it 4-8 LOL, oh well I don't regret the watch. |

| I don't understand how people can watch that ending and be underwhelmed. Seeing the people gather around Kappei so overjoyed just to see him alive, repudiating what Gaizok said about humans, was a breathtaking scene. I admit the reason I watched this show was that anituber's video on gurren lagann, but I did not leave dissapointed. Actually, I'm more touched by this shows finale than the latter. Also, Kappei x Kouzuki otp "I like him too". |

| I liked this ending. Feels a bit impactful I really wished for the kids to have a happy ending towards the rpevious episode, and that episode preview quickly killed off my hopes In the end I don't think they had planned this small plot twist in the begining, and while towards the end I did end up having the sort of feels i expected to have when I stumbed upon this anime, even if it took 4/5 of the way to get there - although at the same time I think I had too high expectations for a 70's kids super robot In the end whether the show's highs compensate for... the rest of the show is not something I could quite say in confidence. As a kid's show I like it, but that's about it. |
