Shion said there was some resemblance to what happened back then when Satoru touched and talked to her. Means there can only be two possibilities: either Satoru really is the killer, despite it being so terribly ovious - or, as I suggested before, Hani is the murderer for whatever reason and his brother found out about it.

Too bad that Shion has to face her father in the next match though, but I'm anxiously awaiting the next episode because of that.

I understanded what Satoru meant with the number change but i was thinking about a Shion-Saito match or a Shion-Hisetani match. A Father-Daughter match is a lot more intense...

I share my opinion with what you said Cyruz.

Another good episode – not spectacular mind you, but good nevertheless. This episode did little more than to push the plot forward a little bit. The investigation story is slowly moving painfully forward and so is the tournament story, but less painfully so, but just as slow. Although, the insight into Satoru's motives is quite intriguing, it deepens the mystery surrounding him quite a bit.

I particularly liked the scene on the hospital roof where Saori and Saitou confronted each other – especially when the wind was blowing – it was beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. While I was expecting a more exciting, perhaps explosive confrontation, I liked how they resolved it regardless, there's a depth in that confrontation that I rather enjoyed.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode – it'll be interesting to see the outcome between Shion and her adoptive father.

"From time to time, here are results that almost seem planned" - just a little bit of an understatement, don't you think? ;-)

Shogi: Serious Business.

I suppose with this episode, I can't really say that Satoru is innocent anymore. I keep thinking it is too obvious, and I would rather see Cyruz's prediction come true: Hani being the murderer and Satoru finding out.

Another thing is that even though Saori still has an important role in the story (despite her being out of the tournament), I was really hoping for some more background story on her and her family. Back in the earlier episodes I really disliked her and kept my full suspicions on her and her father, which I think got mentioned once in an earlier episode.

Anyway, this was another awesome episode. Like Ghost Hound, the plot moves at its own slow pace and while it slowly (painfully at times, though I can handle it) reveals the details and at the same time, you can see the buildup and development and interaction of all the characters. God I love this show so much.

Hisatani always seems to provide the random funny moments. And Shion's foster father not being able to use the mobile phone was hilarious for some reason.

Satoru becoming more annoying..
and the Daughter, father match.. this is cool..
about satoru.. i maybe thinking crazy.. but what if there was a love story between him and shion's mom?
(oh .. that's just crazy.. but i'm going that way) it's all because the pendent thing =_=!
if it wasn't a love story.. i might go with somthing else in that way...

Satoru is nasty. If Shion's mom went with him at some point in time, then I'll probably throw up.

I like Ayumi's relationship with Shion. Shion's reactions are cute as usual.

Anyway, the episode had another great tension-packed moment near the end when the Meijin gave Kobayashi a serious stare-down. I'm not sure if Satoru is the real killer though. The killer kind of looked bigger in physique, so it might be the Meijin himself. Also, seeing how the King was the only piece that was left behind hints towards the Meijin's title of status. This is just a wild assumption.

Speaking of wild assumptions, I'm just gonna throw this one out there...

Kobayashi is the murderer.

There, I said it. I know, it's crazy. But I don't trust characters with perpetually closed eyes :D

I forget who Kobayashi is. *tries to think* Is he the guy who always watches the matches and acts really lightheartedly but seems to have something deeper going on? That guy's got closed eyes right?

ahh i said this before but this series is getting better! :D

so its looking more like mejiin the killer but i'm wondering why would it want to kill shion's parents? and why satoru hating shion so much? and looking back at the first episode right at the beginning (before the opening) doesnt the killer looks so much like him?!

i'm hoping it turned out to someone we would never expected xD;

Nice, a father/daughter match. This should be interesting since they know each others playstyles well.

Shion vs her dad...saw that coming from a mile away.

I hope Satoru dies soon, bastard -___- Though it doesn't feel like he's picking on her because he hates her or because "hurrr I'm the killer." It's more like he's trying to make her regain her memories of that night.

When Shion said she felt he resembled something from her past...ooh I wonder if it's actually the meijin who killed her parents O__O

Nikaidou had a reaction different from the one I was expecting, I am glad.
Of course Satoru would do something again...

Once again Satoru did something and asked to change the numbers so Shion has to fight her father... it's going to be tense.

I'm glad Nikaidou didn't make it into the finals, and that Ayumi is close to getting outed. I feel like they are getting more attention than Shion.

I also don't necessarily think that Ayumi will be in too, too much trouble once outed. I guess it's possible he'll be kicked out of the association. But, considering his talent, how interested Makoto is in him, and that Makoto is trying to steer the world of Shogi into an even playing field anyway; I wouldn't be surprised at a slap on the wrists.

Satoru really does hate Shion.

This show is good at balancing the expectation of matches. It's generally hard to say which character is going to win. Especially since the winner of the match with Shion and her father will go on to face Ayumi. Which rematch would be most important to the plot at this point? It's hard to guess.

Even if Satoru turns out not to be the killer, he's still a real bastard.

Makoto's logic at the end of the episode was sound as well. Just letting Shion win because of their relationship would be a patronising, pitiable move to make for a match where both players are truly invested in the game of shogi. Not to say there isn't a time and place for sentimentality, of course, but it would be disingenuous to let it artificially impede a game of wit.
