Aren't you glad this is not the final episode? :D

Satoru keeps on plotting, and made Saori and Ayumi meet. I guess that secret is done for now.

I knew Shion wasn't gonna cry when she lost, and I'm glad that it was terrible for Satoru that she smiled instead. I'm happy two of them still made it into the finals. Even though it's too bad for Saori, it's good that not all of them won, that would have been to unrealistic. It only supports my current opinion about this anime.

Did I forget something? Well anyhow, it was a great episode, I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to more - as always.

Fantastic episode. They managed to keep Shion and Saito in the tournament without making them have upsets. And having Saori meet Saito(male) was a nice cliffhanger.

Episode 13: Okay --- the scene that had the old man walking out right after they found out that Shion's shoelaces were cut screams out to me that he had something to do with it. I know we have talked about him in the past, but i can't just let what happened dropped.

Yet another very interesting episode. I was very entertained with the ending to Satoru and Shion's match, especially the ending. The great thing about this series is that our main characters can't do the impossible, they can actually lose matches, and each time that happens it's shown that they grow stronger after each defeat. Shion's smile is a perfect example of this.

Scene of the episode for me had to be the flashback that shown Kamizono giving money to Yasuoka. A very beautiful scene, that sweet piano piece (which better had appear on the soundtrack that's being released this week) which helped a lot, along with a certain line that can come across as a powerful one, more ways then one: "Kishi need to believe in the move they've decided upon."

As for the cliffhanger, all i could think is why Satoru would send Saori to see Ayumi's Mother (it's even more mysterious as to why he had to have the text sent by Hani). Sure it looks as if his hidden plan was to show Saori that Ayumi is really male, though why? And that also explains that he knew about it all along --- no surprise when you think about how easy it would be for him to find out such information.

Shion is very mature for her age, she understands that at the end of the day it's just a game. On the other hand, Satoru is a major sadist, he takes pleasure in the misery of others and if it doesn't appear to work out, cuts himself -___-;;

Sending Saori that text message and telling her to go to the hospital, Satoru was probably betting on the fact that Saori might report Saitou to the association and disqualifiying him as well as possibly causing a ruckus in the shogi world.

The show still does not have a definite end in terms of episode counts, but i suspect it won't go further than the end of this tournament ...

Maybe something simple like the fact that Saori would 100% listen to what Hani-meijin had to say?

I didn't see an old man walking out after they discovered the shoes, but I saw one walking in. Anyways, he's the guy working there, and has never seemed suspicious, so why would he be the one to do it?

Once again, another wonderful episode.

Well, to me it was obvious what Satoru was up to as soon as I read that text message. The scene before it with him talking with his brother was another stand-out scene in the episode. My suspicions for Hani-Meijin keep rising. And there was some background info on Satoru too. Who is Kazumi?

Going by the DVD's, it'll be 22 episodes.

A rather entertaining episode – sadly, there wasn't any scenes with the ongoing investigation, but it is filled with shogi goodness, which is good too. I was glad that all the girls lost their matches – it's more realistic that way. However, I am elated that Shion and Saitou will be moving on towards the main tournament – it's unfortunate that Saori wouldn't advance. Who knows? Perhaps Shion would get a rematch with Satoru, I liked the fact that Shion didn't cry when she lose to him, which made it a rather bitter/pyrrhic victory for Satoru.

The flashback scene was rather heart-warming and was perhaps my favourite scene of the entire episode. It shows, relatively speaking, a gentler side to Saitou's master and why Shion's adoptive father would take him in as a student. It's a touching scene that was character filling.

The cliff hanger was excruciatingly good! I wonder... what is Satoru up to? Why would he send Saori to meet up with Saitou's mother? In any case, I wonder what she would do now that she knows that Satoru is a bloke. Arugh, I can't wait until the next episode!

By the way, has anyone notices the amount of characters in this series that begin with the letter "S"? Shion, Saitou, Saori, and Satoru (I'm sure there's more) – it's a dyslexic's (me in this case) worst nightmare! XD

It really looks like Satoru is the murderer but understanding his actions is such a huge puzzle. and the answer would probably lie with Kazumi who surprisingly look a lot like Shion and Kazumi was mentioned by Shion's real mother in her diary or something. I wonder if the whole incident relates to the day when Satoru's mother died or was that an incident that just twisted his mind even more. ahhh, so much to ponder abt.. maybe her real parent's actually adopted her and her real mother was Kazumi and her real father is Satoru? LOL.

The mystery is nicely-paced so far. There are major indications to the possibility of Satoru being the key murderer, but since anything can happen with a lot of characters having hidden motives/agendas, it's anyone's game.

BTW, I think Saitou looks like a girl...an attractive one. I'm going to pretend he is a girl ^_^

Good episode. I found it hilarious how the old man Saori played against was able to decipher love through a board game. B-9 means he loves you LOL

Satoru cut himself after a win. I wonder what he'd do after a loss?

I thought everything was over for the girls/trap but looks like they still have at least one final chance to win. Wonder what Saori will do now that she knows Saitou is a trap? I have my doubts she'll make a public display of the situation burt she'll definitely need to find out what happened with Hani's text message.

Steel is my body and Fire is my blood,
I have created over a thousand blades,
Unknown to Death,
Nor known to Life,
Have withstood pain to create many weapons,
Yet, those hands will never hold anything,
So as I pray, unlimited blade works"

Saito and Shion advances to the finals, poor Saori. Well it was her carelessness that cost her the match.

Seems like Satoru's in it to make everyone miserable. What will he gain by exposing Saito's secret to Saori? Bastard.

But murderer was always shown with purple/grey hair till now.

Satoru's is bright yellow and for someone who was hiding 8 years, he is way too in the open now.

Well, almost certainly the person who cut Shion's shoes has to be Satoru.

This old man, with his omniscient Shogi interpretation powers. "The board told me that you guys had sex." What an incredible gift.

Satoru is quite the fire-starter, and he's becoming exponentially more suspicious with each passing minute. I guess his true motivation doesn't involve usurping his brother.

Cutting Shion's shoelaces is remarkably petty. Perhaps it really is a case of cute aggression, but that concept has always confounded me.

Saori might have discovered Ayumi's identity now. It's a bad time to be found out too, considering he's currently in the finals. Then again, this tournament is open to both genders, so Ayumi could still get away with it.
