@Jiburiruu maybe only the hornet and wasp is the most dangerous you'll find if you actively go searching for them of course, been in japan 7 times never seen one though rural and city :P for the matter never seen much bugs there flies are a rare sight even in a city

@Teapotswag - I spent 2 weeks in 2012 wandering around (I have a thread for it above). My experience was that the plane ticket there and back (from Ohio/USA) was more than what I spent on lodging and meals together for the two weeks. I'd love to go again, but at this point my body can't handle sitting in one place for 12 hours.

@Soulyabean - all my life I've mostly traveled alone, so I can't give you any help with comparisons. For me, being able to decide where to go next while eating breakfast or lunch is what I look forward to.

@Soulyabean rooms are cheaper if you can travel with friends you can split the room costs, alternatively airbnb is also good you can rent whole houses or apartments or even with a host family kind of at a good price, and if outside of the big city it gets cheaper
