Manga vs. Anime

Information
This club is basicly about the debates between manga and anime. While people usually prefer the manga over the anime (i.e. Negima, Fruits Basket, Tsbuasa, etc.) anime appears to be more popular. When you join this club please leave a comment saying which you prefer and why (that is, if this club does get any members...). Note: If there's anything else you think should be added to the relations, just say so in a comment.

I personally enjoy manga better. I'm an avid reader so I'm quite comfortable with turning/clicking on pages, and it also allows me to go at my own pace unlike watching anime.

Additionally, since most anime are adaptions from manga, I find that when I check both out, the manga's tend to have more substance to them, since they have more freedom in how much content they can put in unlike in anime where content needs to be cut to fit in the episodes or season.

To further that thought, I enjoy the audacity of manga in what they can do with mature themes and subject matter, and can illustrate freely what would be commonly censored in anime.

That's not to say I don't like anime, there are exceptionally well made anime, but I like to have a look at a series' manga first.

Nothing is perfect.

I love anime better than manga because it have colour, movement, sound, effects and i don't have to click each pages of the manga. It's just much cooler.

However there are more manga out there...Some good ones didn't have chance to get animated. And it has those parts where anime leave it out, which actually make the manga better.

Long anime tend to have fillers (Naruto, bleach) and some of them are boring...I'm okay with it if its entertaining though (:
But some anime (Eg. Soul Eater) only have 51eps. It didn't follow the manga since eps35 and end with its own ending..end up i have to red the manga too.

But i still like anime more.
Action is always better in anime.
Manga for romance is fine (:

I like to judge each series separately. It often depends if anime adaptation sticks to the original. If it does and I get my favorite scenes animated (or get lots of new great scenes), then that particular anime is superior. The same goes if anime follows a different storyline that makes more sense than in the manga.

However, if I don't know the source material (manga, novel), then I'm very rarely inclined to check it out after finishing the anime, if the story satisfies me. But when I read a manga, I have to see its adaptation if there is one.
So, I guess anime leaves me more "full".

Yet, there are series like FMA, where I love 1st anime adaptation (totally AU) as much as 2nd (more faithful to manga) one/manga itself.

Anime is FAR superior to manga. Anime is not only a visual presentation, but the music and voices are much more engaging than simply reading static text on paper. Manga is just another step in the creation of an anime. The original creator comes out with manga, which gets made into a (usually supeior) anime adaptation. I don't care what anyone says, the Bleach anime is light-years ahead of the manga, and as if that wasn't enough to infuriate most people, I watch it dubbed.

I think it also consists in the history of the Manga. We've seen inumerous cases where they stop the production of the anime because of the development of the manga (Ex: Tsubasa). In that case we have to read the manga if we want to know the continuation of the story.

also isn't the artwork usually alot better for the manga as opposed to the animation... at least that has always been the case with my most favourite mangaka... such as Clamp, Yu Watase, and Rumiko... etc.

only a few moments have i had any sort of trouble with manga vs anime, and that is Vampire Knight the later chapters when there is alot of action scenes... to me the action scenes were better portrayed in the anime, where i could really tell what was going on as compared to the manga.

anyone else feel this way?

I agree with Nekkro said on a whole, but I would like to add this; It's more like what came first is usually the better of the two... if the manga predates the anime it is almost always better than the anime, but if say the anime (it seems more rare) predates the manga than its usually 90 percent true that the anime is going to be a hell of a lot better than the manga... the reason I believe in this is because they usually try to take a sucessful manga series and make it into anime, where as if the anime is first... It's most likely that the anime was so popular that they dished out the manga for that reason...
