This Character is NOT Emo!!

Information
Too often, the term Emo is thrown around loosely! Every character with emotional problems is automatically branded emo. Sometimes it's just because they may wear their hair style a little differently. Emo once was a genere of music, now it's a label for people who act emotional for no real reason other than to make a vein attempt to rebel against mainstream culture. While yes, certain characters are truly EMO, but there are those that are not.

Cloud also happens to be my absolute favorite character ever (from my most favorite game) and I hate so much how people automatically label him emo, just cuz he acts less-than-happy a lot and is depressed over the loss of 2 close friends. FFS, I swear people do NOT see how much freakin shit he's gone through, srsly. I'm honestly shocked he isn't clinically depressed after how many times he was mentally tortured and had his mind ripped to pieces (at least 3 damn times too).

Anyway sorry, ranting xD. But yes, Shinji Ikari is another one that gets bashed horribly (and I like Shinji almost as much as I do Cloud). Ugh, so-called "fans" need to grow up and learn to understand a character entirely before judging whether or not they like said character. Sheesh.

Heylo, just joined xD. And yes, too many characters are unfairly called "emo". Can someone please add Cloud Strife to that list? He gets slapped with the emo-label far too much >_>. (I would say add Vincent Valentine to that list, but he actually was emo, in the real sense, not the attention-whore/annoying sense.)

I've been wondering about some of those Character Relations, too... but I thought it's just me >.>

Anyway... I couldn't agree more. Especially that most people bashing Shinji (or whomever) are actually crybabies... and for some minor reasons on the top of it...

I never understood the meaning of calling these characters emo, honestly. I mean, so what if a character's not happy all the time? And it's more realistic; to be honest a lot of what these characters go through is much worse than we'll encounter in life, just because they're in a fictional setting.

Shinji Ikari for example; find someone else who knows what it's like to have your mother die, father leave you, and see your father only telling you to play giant robot (and if you die, oh well, he didn't care about you anyways), and hey, it's not like you have friends anyways. How is someone supposed to not be depressed from that? Some people get depression from much less, and it's not a bad thing in itself.

Although what's with some of the characters in the Character Relations here? xD What's even remotely related to "emo" and Aruruu? How is Himura Kenshin emo- given the backstory I'm surprised he's not more angsty, knowing his cheery side. And Sakaki? She has a reason to be sad, but she's more kuudere than "emo"; it's hard to tell if she's even sad anyways. :P

Ah, just a rant, I guess. Suppose I could say I'm new here.

What do you guys think about Gaara and Sasuke from Naruto? - They are often seen as an Emo.

sasuke isn't emo, he's obsessed with revenge, which later he finds out is supposed to be

gaara isn't either, the dark rings are because he can't sleep (otherwise shuukaku takes over) and he's more sadistic than anything before naruto beats him, then he's just monotone because his voice would have addapted.

also both reasons why each are portraid as emo is because they want to kill, or so i think, and the reason for that is because the people they want to kill have hurt their emotions, so revenge. gaara had everyone hate him, so he wants to return the favour 10 fold, sasuke had his brother kill his whole clan he wants to kill him in return...

that's my opinion. revenge hungry.

It's either "emo" or "gay" I often hear, it's making me wanna puke. It seems that in order to not be emo these days you have to be completely inhuman.

Oh, and Hi. I just joined ^.^;

There are lots of characters who are unfairly called emo. Personally, I do find Sasuke emo, but, for most of the others, I don't get why people decided they were emo!
