It's a 3 day event lasting between the 8th and 10th August next year (2008). There are usually many dealers, special guests, masquerade, cosplay performances and a ball on the last day. My advice to anyone even slightly interested is to REGISTER IMMEDIATELY at <a href="http://www.amecon.org/register.php" target="_blank">http://www.amecon.org/register.php</a> since this event is so popular that tickets are sold out very quickly. The fee is £45 and must be paid within 2 weeks of registering, so you still have time to think about it. You need to create a username which will be printed on your conbadge, e.g "The Puppet Master!!". In terms of accomodation, you can book on-site rooms in the Leicester university campus. There are standard and en-suite rooms available. Although sharing of rooms is prohibited, no one will find out, so people usually share rooms and the other person chips in for a small fee. Just to reinforce the message: REGISTER IMMEDIATELY!!! Update on AmeCon ------------------------ Amecon is now full. The only way you may be able to get tickets is by putting your name on the waiting list, which is already starting to fill up. =========================================== Alcon in 2008: ---------------- If you’re looking for a anime convention to attend next year then here is one you might want to look at. Alcom 2008 will be held on 5 – 7th of September 2008 at the De Montfort University, Leicester city campus. To find out further information, just follow the more button. Situated directly across from the terminal building for those arriving by air, and a short bus journey from Glasgow Central Station, the Holiday Inn is easily accessable regardless of whether you arrive by bus, train or plane. There are 297 bedrooms available in the Holiday Inn itself, with several other alternative accomodation options within walking distance. Additionally, a 24/7 bus service operates between the airport terminal and Glasgow city centre. Information about booking rooms in the Holiday Inn, at a special rate for Auchinawa attendees, will become available in January, to coencide with the opening of registrations. You know you sooo want to. Anime Central want cosplayers to head down to their studios at the end of November to take part in shots and be apart of their advertising campaign starting next year. If your interested send a quick paragraph about yourself and costume to webmaster@animecentral.com. Remember you need to be 18 years or over to take part.
