So I figured I'd make a fanclub for the greatest RPG ever, but then I remembered how hard Xenogears fans are to come by.  I didn't want to be all by myself, so I decided to include the next best thing - Xenosaga.  

If you're a fan of any of the Xeno games, you're more than welcome to join.

Dude I think you're right about XS3, I think it's rather convoluted to make every single bad guy die one way or another. None of them was clever or willing enough to survive =/

Bug the biggest disappointment is the ending. There you have Wilhelm talking about how impossible it is to save the universe even with the power of god (and since he manipulated the whole universe for 6000 years I bet he knows what he's talking about), then you have chaos telling you "btw, you might find something useful on Lost Jerusalem"

Do you think Xenoblade would be included on this list? I haven't played it, I'm in the US :C but I hope it gets ported here and I've heard such awesome news about it.

I really quite liked Xenosaga III, though. Having playing the series from the start, they added a lot of impact to events and stories of each character. I didn't really feel it was rushed until the end where they basically were like "fuck you Canaan, Pellegri, and Marguilis yur gonna fuckin die!" And they basically felt the need to conclude everyone's problems all at once. While I don't think it was entirely bad, and at times it was rather effective, it just became relatively jarring to have all of these character deaths being thrown at me which to me decreased the impact of them.

Personally, I thought the deaths of Margulis and Pellegri were weak points in the story. Pellegri and Margulis don't seem to be the sort of characters that would go "durr hurr our religion is a holo-lie! Our life is pointless now and we'll go fight Jin to teh death!" Pellegri, to me, came to me as someone who would find a way to find a reasonable way to deal with her problem and try to move on. I personally don't think she really had any reason to fight Jin because she all of a sudden found her life pointless for some reason. To me, that seemed totally unnecessary.

Margulis seems like the sorts of person who'd directly oppose Wilhelm instead of becoming his bitch even after revealing his identity to him. Being a man of pride, I can't imagine him being the sort of guy that'd appreciate the fact that he was basically being Wilhelm's bitch for so many years. Knowing Wilhelm's power, he'd probably try to be clever and find a way to topple Wilhelm in time rather than go "I've lost all meaning in life, kill me Jin!"

I guess it's just me, but both Pellegri and Margulis seemed totally out of character in those situations and they pretty much made them die because they HAD to have some sort of dramatic death.

Canaan's death was reasonable but not really effective. Though I'd say this is mostly due to the character. Given that the character was also some douce who sticked in the sidelines and was never really involved with the plot, I never really felt interested in his character. One could blame this on the "rush job" but I don't really blame them for focusing on their main characters{Shion, Jr., Allen, Etc}. Though I was hoping he'd a least get some sort of development that made me care what happened to him.

The other characters, though, were great during the end part of the game. Voyager was well established as a power hungry asshole, Wilhelm remains as uncaring as he should be and the Allen scene where he was getting pounded by Kevin was gold. Though I'm one to say that the ending was overall fairly rushed to the point of it being jarring.

I was satisfied with the ending, but not the ending of the series as a whole. After having an incredibly emotional ending with some really great character moments, it feels sad to know that the series ended on a low note with so many mysteries still unknown and such a huge cliffhanger. It's no bad assumption to say that the series feels incomplete and would really benefit from another sequel.

Xenosaga Episode I is one of the greatest rpgs ever made. It's such a shame that so many dismissed it back in the day for having long cutscenes and anime character designs. Which is why episode II was such a disappointment and episode III was a rush job. The franchise deserved much better.

I have only played Xenogears, but it is amazing. Maybe someday, I will play Xenosaga (anyway I have listened their BSO and are amazing XD)

I think Xenogears is one of greatest RPG that you would ever play...really, if you thelike the FF game, go for this one! you'll NEVER regret it!!...only IF you are part of the gamers that love the computer graphics of this generation...but! if you can close an eye to that...you'll meet up with ONE OF THE BEST stories that are out there...
ah...I want a PS1 right now T-T hahahaha
