Kizumonogatari I: Tekketsu-hen

During Koyomi Araragi's second year at Naoetsu Private High School, he has a chance encounter with Tsubasa Hanekawa, the top honor student in his class. When they strike up a conversation, Hanekawa mentions a shocking rumor: a vampire with beautiful blonde hair and freezing cold eyes has been seen lurking around town.

Happy to have made a new friend, Araragi writes off the rumor and goes about the rest of his evening in a carefree manner. However, on his way home, he stumbles across splatters of blood leading down the stairs to the subway. His curiosity pushes him to investigate further, so he follows the gruesome pools into the depths of the station.

When he arrives at the source of the blood, he is terrified by what he sees—the rumored blonde vampire herself, completely dismembered. After she calls for his help, Araragi must make a decision, one which carries the potential to change his life forever.

In my opinion, the first movie in the Kizumonogatari trilogy is one of the best anime films ever made. The storyline is quite linear and straightforward: Araragi meets one of his first friends, encounters Shinobu, and gets introduced to her world. However, the main appeal lies in its aesthetics and visual presentation. The combination of anime characters with real-life backgrounds highlights the deconstruction aspect of otaku and post-modern consumption culture. The film employs various camera angles and animation styles, from horror zoom-ins to chibi cartoons, and its use of color makes it visually captivating.

The opening scene creates a sense of urgency and paranoia, helping viewers ... immediately empathize with Araragi. During his conversation with Shinobu, the pacing slows down to allow a deeper focus on the dialogue, and the animation picks up again in the latter half. Unlike Bakemonogatari, the film's minimal dialogue and fewer characters give viewers a chance to concentrate on Araragi's expressions and infer his emotions. Overall, the first movie was a joy to watch, and I am excited to see the second and third films.

Where do I even start dissecting this? The problem isn't that there is too much to say, it's that there isn't enough. For the hour that this movie lasted, there's maybe about 10 minutes of worthwhile content, all scattered in the second half. So, the first Kizumonogatari, as all prequels do, give a good deal of insight on one of 778's most famous works.

Sorry, the parallels were just so obvious I had to make the joke. But every masterpiece has its cheap copy, and the Yupiel doujin is no exception. With Shaft doing as it does with this anime and ... making the oujou-sama's laugh into something you can watch, Kizumonogatari first movie doesn't offer much to look at. Hanekawa and Araragi feel like wholly different characters, probably free of whatever trauma happened in this very trilogy and this Kiss shot girl did the biggest mistake of her life by not being voiced by Sakura Tange, making the movie lose 3 points just like that (no slight on her VA though, she did a good job, but I can't let that thought out of my head).

That's basically how I feel about the whole thing, movie format doesn't help at all. This anime just feels like someone used the freshest ingredients from different countries with very differing flavors and mixed it all to make something that has very distinctly the flavor of bread, but not the bread that just came out of the oven, more the one that you froze to use the day after kind of bread.

TLDR
-The animation is inconsistent
-Fights are anticlimactic
-Hanekawa
-Ending sucks (for this movie and the other 2 movies)

(kizu is short for Kizumonogatari.)
Shaft did not need to strectch a it for taht long.
its unbelievable how a backgrounds at some points were more interesting than Hanekawa character... and it was really unneccessary for hanekawa to be sexualised so much??!!
the fanservice (throughout the 3 movies) are so garbage like its even worse than those bad isekai or terrible harem animes...
...
I feel like the movie could of been a lot better if hanekawa was literally removed from the 3 kizu movies
if they fleshed out Shinobu's character/reactions etc and removed hanekawa, which would mean no terrible irrelevant fanservice scenes the 3 kizu movies could of been bumped up in rating at least by me.
also idk how the 3 kizu movies r rated so highly, its strange how so mnay peopel have rated such a trash jumble of movies this high....

i dont understand why they stretched kizumonogatari for 3 movies?!
LIKE i cannot even remember anything memorable and I am writing (wrote) this review after watching all if these movies and like the normal Monogatari series is way better or just even the first season because the characters act/behave consistenly in character. One ep of Bakemonotagari is way better than watching 3 dreadful kizumonogatari movies imo...
fyi i have watched all of Monotagari so... the character and art inconsistencies from the rest of the anime, are a big indicator (for me at least) of how bad these 3 movies are
