Very informative! I didn't know most of that, thank you.
I can't imagine The Monogatari Series anime failing to continue. It'd be a shock and shame to let it die.
So, I believe we'll get it sooner or later.

@waalex11 I did some digging and Off Season is just side story stuff that took place during the 3 seasons, similar to Horimiya: The Missing Pieces. Monster is a sequel that takes place while Araragi is in college.

The novel that shows Araragi and Hitagi's married life came out in May. It's called Shinomonogatari. It's a two part novel series. The second one came out in June.

Shaft would have adapted it all if a ton of main staff hadn't left after Owarimonogatari such as Itamura who directed the entire series and directed Call of the Night last year. Also, some money issues as well apparently. I'm hoping this announcement is a sign that they're going back to their roots along with the long awaited Madoka sequel to Rebellion.

@Yui_Suzumiya69
I personally only read a few arcs of Season One and Two, and Kizu to completion after the anime years ago before the Kizu anime.
I'm a big fan of The Monogatari Series, and I think it's great, but until I rewatch it or possibly read all the books before or after to compare, I won't know for certain how truly good it really is in hindsight and with better judgement today.

I actually realized late Off Season is supposed to be next, and not Monster Season which is after,
but aside from that I barely know and avoid any spoilers after the Final Season.
It's obscure, but Shaft announced somewhere years ago that they would continue, and here it is for now, until this recap is finished, then I think it's obvious they'll finally resume with Off-Season.

I wish they did right away instead of wasting their time with editing three movies into one which I can't imagine makes great profit.
It's illogical to me, but for whatever reason, a lot of anime productions keep doing it... I guess because it's only editing an existing movie to basically trim in placements, there's barely any wasted budget, so for whoever random few who buy it, it gives them a decent profit... It's weird as hell to me, but anyway.

I don't think I knew about them getting married, or forgot, even though it'd be easy to assume.

@waalex11 I just started the series recently and am currently in Monogatari Season Two. I'm really loving it and was interested to know more about Shaft continuing the series since you mentioned it. Hell, I wouldn't mind the latest book that shows Araragi and Hitagi enjoying married life, lol

Why Are Compilation Films Made?

Recap movies can serve as convenient reminders of a show's crucial plot points, especially prior to a sequel coming out. A theatrical event can act as a gathering point for fans of the show, and the events surrounding a theatrical release make for great marketing that drives sales of everything related to that show. Otaku will usually pony up to obsessively collect any new media release, even if there's only the barest hint of any new material included.

But more than anything, compilation films are just really, really cheap to make. Even if nobody goes to see them, the cost of producing them is a small fraction of the cost to make a single episode of anime. No new animation needs to be made (and if it does, it's usually only a couple of minutes' worth). Usually only a single voice actor is required to add new narration. No new music needs to be composed. Most of the sound design can be re-used. When an entirely new product from an existing franchise can be made for only the cost of hiring a few editors, making it becomes a question of "why not?"

As a fan of The Monogatari Series, this is actually a very disappointing rip off.
Why condensed the three movies that already exist into one movie with maybe some new scenes.

As a big fan of the Kizumonogatari novel, the adaptation was honestly disappointing as well in comparison to the original.

A lot was cut, and the dark drama that the novel had was never really present in the movies.
In the novel, there are a lot of moments that are scary or depressing, from either Kisshot and the villains from Koyomi's point of view.

I wish this was an announcement for a sequel continuing the latest novels that we've been waiting for years since Shaft claimed they're working on. Damn fucking shame. Very frustrating.

Kind of a weird project but I might check it out since it’s been a minute since I’ve seen any monogatari content.

It also seems likely that they might do something new after this which would no doubt be cool, but to be honest I was mostly waiting on 3 gatsu to return in regards to any sort of comeback by shaft and that seems even less likely now. guess i’ll settle on the manga for now, since it’s finally being published in English.

Man I hope it's the sign for another season, want more of basically everyone having fun.

Sep 10, 2023 2:07 AM by CQLLIST

Lmfao. It’s just a compilation movie. But I think it’ll be good cause the original 3 movies were a bit too long.

I wonder if they'll tease new projects after this comes out in post-credits or something.
