Tales of urban crime with distinct animation and visual styles starring absolute badasses.

Tales of urban crime featuring quirky characters and zany comedy. There's also a lot of action and an overall atmosphere. The main difference is that Active Raid involves mecha and focuses on the police, while Riding Bean focuses on the outlaws.

Both have a main character on the wrong side of the law with a gunslinger companion and a crazy policeman set on catching the main character. Both are also set in a big city.

Similar characters, both involve similar types of action, have gangs/yakuza and have a similar feel.

These two '80s features have nearly identical plots: a renegade group of young "transporters-for-hire" gets asked by someone purportedly working for an influential family to take the family's rich, young incapacitated daughter somewhere to prevent her from being kidnapped. But little do our heroes know that the ones who asked them to take on this job were in disguise, and they were the bad guys all along, seeking to frame our heroes for the kidnapping! There is also a comically obsessive authority figure chasing after them. The main difference is that "Riding Bean" takes place in Chicago, and "Crusher Joe" takes place in space.

Both are fast-paced anime filled with adrenaline and awesome characters. They focus on fast cars and have great car racing and chasing scenes.

Both have distinct styles and are basically car chase movies. Both pay tons of homage to American cinema and have awesome soundtracks.

Both Cyber City Oedo 808 and Riding Bean are old school OVAs from the same time period (late 1980's-early 1990's). Both anime deal with outlaws working with the law to take out criminals. They are also both action-packed anime filled with violence and blood. Biggest difference between the two is that Cyber City Oedo 808 takes place in a cyberpunk setting while Riding Bean takes place in a modern-day world. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both anime are old school OVAs from the same time period (late 1980's-early 1990's). Both anime are set in the United States. They are both very cheesy and over the top with a bad ass main character. However Riding Bean has way less violence, gore, and nudity compare to Mad Bull 34. If you like one, you should like the other.

Both light hearted and from the same era, both have memorable and enjoyable characters, and both are very well written.
