With Ookami Kakushi, think of a much softer, less violent version of Higurashi. Except, what we seem to be dealing with isn't a festial revolving around a god of death, but a wolf god. There are enough changes, for it to be it's own story, yet simular enough to ask, did the creator get some ideas from Higurashi? That includes some of the sound effects.

a kid comes to live in a rural town and is greeted by his class with open arms. also the town is f---ed up but no biggie. supernatural stuff happens people are "mysteriously" disappearing every episode MC should have GTFO'd out of there ASAP

Airing within a year of each other, the melodramatic setting but similar color styles reflects Anime's move towards a Gothic style with a very specific character design, yet also super depressing plot - depressing, as in the characters lives don't go well because both series are of - if one guessed already - the horror genre. While blood spills out, none of this is overdone, yet the subtle tones of hints at other things - things left unseen, plays at the minds of viewers watching either series.

Both series deal with isolated towns that have a different species that's hostile to humans. There's horror and people dying, but the endings are pretty good.

Ghost Hound is Ookami Kakushi done correctly. It has richer set of characters and maintains a stronger level of suspense throughout the series. If you enjoyed Ookami Kakushi's occult themes and suspense then you should watch Ghost Hound. If you watch Ookami Kakushi for the cute girl cutting people with sythes you might be a little disappointed in Ghost Hound. It has predominantly male protagonists. If you love Ghost Hound... wait a couple of weeks and then watch Ghost Hound again. Ookami Kakushi's predicable story line and flat characters will not hold your interest for long.

Both have a weird aura of mystery about them and both have a male protagonist and several female characters he doesn't quite understand or know to trust

While the settings and situations are very different, both have similar dark atmospheres and moods throughout. They involve a group of adolescents who get in over their heads in something which is more complex then they originally believed.

Both series have similar setting, in a small and quiet village. Both plot starts out with the main character trying to unravel the mystery behind the village mysterious occurrences. And in the end they find the truth and if everything that happened is supernatural or human doing. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni has much more gore and violence than this.

Both are mystery series, meaning you need to pay attention and fit all kinds a clues about events together. They both have a very creepy atmosphere during the night which enhances the feeling of being kept in the dark (I don't mean that literally). Both series manages to joke around despite the seriousness of the pretty intense storyline

Believe it or not, if you liked Ookami Kakushi, you'll LOVE death note. If you loved Death Note, you'll either like or love Ookami Kakushi. :3 Both animes have an amazing plot, both animes have INCREDIBLE artwork and animation, both start off ''^_^ '' and process more to the ( °_° ) kind of anime. Death Note :: Mysterious deaths going on, by the deathnote notebook. Kira writes the name down. The Shinigami(Death God) is always by the kira's side, and knows the rules+punishments of the deathnote. Ookami Kakushi :: Mysterious deaths going on, too.. by someone*i'm not naming anyone because it kind of counts as a  read more

Both series have a cute girl hunting down so call "monster" to prevent more people from being hunted down. Kannon hunt down Fallen Wolves while Saya hunt down the Old Ones. Similar setting.

Our main character heads to an isolated town. Starting a new life there. But there is something mysterious happening in this town. He and hie group of friends must solve the mystery of this town. Both anime has suspense, and horror like feel

Both animes have reference to jouga wolves and are generally dark.

Oakami is more about werewolves, while Sola is about vampires, but the twists that they basically place on the genera are simular, yet in the same token, remain believable. They have a rather innocent tone to the storyline, yet also have a tragic tone underwoven into it.

Both are short but excellent murder mystery stories

These two Anime have simular styles to them that happen to have crisp outlines, vibrant gothic colors and intricate details. Both are also aimed towards a simular age audience.

Hmm...you know, I'm guessing that (in Ookami Kakushi) the scythe girl is transforming into, actually, you know, can't spoil actually o_O it's like (in Shakugan no Shana) shana transforming into a red-haired, blazing-eyed girl o_o so it's kind of similar...XD

I've no idea why but since the first episode ive had a feeling that Ookami is very similar to H2O footprints, maybe its the art or the characters, but seriously i keep thinking these are so similar but remember H2O is more light and less dark just the characters seem very simliar
