An isekai where the one transported is our favourite famous author for his unaliveness tries Dazai Osamu! If you don't know who that is, you should read his wikipedia page, it is quite a read.
This one was quite a ride, to basic lows, to pretty okayish highs. Has a more unique take on the isekai genre, so it isn't the typical isekai slop. At least not 100%, more like 50% I guess... Why do I say this? Well, without spoiling, the idea behind this anime is pretty good: take a famous author that tried to unalive himself quite a few times and try to do
...
a story in which you teach people the beauty of life and that it is worth to live it, through all kinds of small stories. Or at least, that's how it seemed to me for a bit, but then it wasn't all like that. What it is is a comedy coupled with serious moments. Unfortunately, it seems to me like they have rushed quite a bit... some stories were made an 1 episode, start it and wrap it up by the end of the episode, were a bit too fast to actually get involved in them, and then you have the way they present things... which was not always the best, as in too basic and typical to the point of already guessing majority of what will happen. There are a few arcs that are longer, of course, but they're not all... that great... But, from my perspective, at first it starts great, gets a bit dull and then goes pretty good stuff towards the end, so it does leave you wanting to watch more of their adventures. Sometimes it does leave you with quite a few questions that were never answered though, but they're not that important to the overall plot I guess.
If you aren't the type to get triggered by unalive jokes, then you can easily watch it and enjoy. The cast is pretty nice, I like their chemistry. They made it so that every time the MC comes on and says something, it's saying some sort of a life advice... which kinda becomes a bit cringy at times... Also expect quite a few perfect moments and such, but I would say 70% of the anime is comedy, the rest is the serious part. So yea, the main group is something unique to me and how everything goes, so that's a big plus to me, especially in the isekai genre. Nobody is OP, quite a few different characters and personalities that mash up pretty nicely for the stories, but the world does not seem so big... it feels to me a bit... small. Not much worldbuilding to see or get explained.
Story: 8 -- The story has ups and downs, but overall is acceptable. At the end it is pretty good, at least compared to the rest of the anime. Quite a few stories you can instantly know where it will go though...
Art: 8 -- The art is pretty nice as well. Don't have any complains here.
Music: 8 -- The OP is pretty good here, and the ED too.
Characters: 8 -- Personally I am okay with the MC and his niche personality, and the group that is around him and how they interact. Very lively bunch.
Enjoyment: 8 -- I enjoyed it, even though it had some dull moments for me.
Overall: 8
Right now it has 7.29 from 72.524 votes Ranked #2866 Popularity #1361 Members 187,134.
I recommend it to people that are okay with the unalive part of the story and don't get triggered by it, want to see a comedy that is trying to mix itself with serious moments and some life advice, a more unique type of isekai that is not the OP MC that gets all the girls and everyone is all over him and that want to see some feel good moments/stories. It is a happy plot overall!

A reverse time anime about a 16 year old girl that gets betrayed by her husband and is getting another chance at life at age 10.
Everything good until now... then it hits you. Right from the start. Her husband from her past life was the crown prince of a country, so at age 10, when the crown prince chooses her, she decides to go with another one... and that another one is 19... and he accepts her... he is overjoyed by her age...
While there is a plot reason why he is overjoyed by her age and such, it is still quite the :| moment for
...
me (could have been easily changed...). But okay, let's say we get over this, what do we have then? A comedy mostly that switches between somewhat serious moments with jokes and... quite a few close, heartfelt moments between the FMC and MC... Oh man, it just likes to emphasize the fact that it is a 19 y old with a 10 y old, huh... Let's see who is the author... a female... I see... well, I did hear quite a lot of 18+ stuff is drawn by females...
Plot is basic to the point it is cringe at times for certain moments, but the main point of this anime is comedy, so ig it doesn't really matter that much, but there isn't that much comedy to make up for the plot imho. Nothing is explained when it comes magic and stuff. Worldbuilding? Ye, don't expect much. And man, sometimes it feels like you're watching on 2x for how fast the story suddenly starts developing, like they remembered they only got so much time and need to finish everything ASAP! Fighting scenes are quite meh as well. Quite a few "perfect" moments that aren't funny or anything, they just seem to be the copy paste of moments I've already seen in thrash animes... It's just the typical feel good story where everyone will be happy and the bed guy gets it.
There are some characters that are quite funny, but they don't appear as much as I would have wanted. MC is the strong female lead type. I like her spirit. MC is okayish? Tbh he's pretty boring to me...
Story: 7 -- There is a plotline... but it's kinda thrash anime plot style...
Art: 7 -- Art was okay. Didn't use horrendous CGI at least, but the fights were kinda 1 frame per second type most of the time, or short af.
Music: 7 -- Okay music.
Characters: 8 -- A few funny ones, but that age gap is still bugging me quite hard...
Enjoyment: 7 -- Was somewhat enjoyable, but didn't leave me with a strong impression or anything... besides that age gap.
Overall: 7

Tbh I cannot really recommend it much to anyone... there are better thrash animes out there. This one is for those that want a comedy that doesn't take itself serious, with a bit of shoujo put in it between the FMC and MC, can get over the ages of the MC and FMC, doesn't mind the generic thrash anime moments and just wants to chill at something and pass the time.

A more realisitc MC that will do almost anything to become the strongest Seeker (adventurer) in their world.
This story was a pretty fresh watch, as the MC is more of a Villain than anything else, and would stop at almost nothing to achieve his goal. The arcs and decisions are not something you see very often, especially when it comes from a MC. He is ruthless when it comes to what decisions are made. In rest, the plot is pretty generic I would say. Nothing deep happens, the MC just goes around trying to get higher in the Seeker hierarchy through different methods while any
...
conflict that comes his way, he uses them as a stepping stone, or makes them happen.
But here comes a bit of a problem to me, the story has the right elements and ideas, but they are executed in a too short of a timespan, so stuff is rushed, does not go deep enough and it seems to be more on the idea of showing the action scenes only and nothing from the background. You would suddenly find out something very interesting or that has a really big impact, but it wouldn't be explained how it ended up there, just the result. Like yea, it's nice to have that from time to time to be surprised I guess, but here it feels like with the MC it always happens. I haven't read the light novel, but it seems to me like it is the same situation as with the Overlord adaptation: only the main conflicts and nothing more, or at least I think so.
Also, the more it goes, the more it seems to fall down, at least to me... as it doesn't explain much and you don't have much time to understand the characters in the arcs and such, decisions become more and more irrational or stupid, and scenes that should be impactful are more of a "meh" to me...
Story: 8 -- Has interesting ideas that are paired very nice with the MC, but feel rushed, which makes the climaxes fall quite a lot for me.
Art: 8 -- It was okay. Liked the art during the insane speeches given by the MC, and some fights were okay looking.
Music: 8 -- Okay music.
Characters: 8 -- Really like the MC, but the other characters don't feel like you can get to know them much and then it goes next conflict... and then they kinda become forgotten as they need to make more room to the new ones... Also the side characters that have big impacts in an arc don't get much time so when the conflict's climax comes, it just doesn't make you feel much for it...
Enjoyment: 8 -- Like these types of MC, but the story was quite too rushed for me to like it. Should have done less arcs and more time given to flesh out the characters in arcs.
Overall: 8

I would recommend this anime for people that want to watch a story with a ruthless MC that will do almost anything to reach his goals, refreshing takes on certain aspects that have already been seen in other stories, but that are okay with not getting a deep understanding or are okay with a more fast presentation of the story.

A generic fantasy/adventure story with quite a bit of comedy put in it, following someone that went into adveturing at the old age of 30.
Even though the story is generic, the comedy, which sometimes hits, sometimes it's a bit dry, does make it more enjoyable. The context is a bit absurd, so don't expect normalcy or try of it in the plot, but that's good for me as it knows what it is and how it started and how it should go. The story does touch onto a pretty sensitive subject, even for a young guy like me, that I feel like everyone thought about
...
at least once: is it too late to start something? While in this context we have a pretty happy story, if you can call it so, of a 30 years old MC that finally decided to follow his dream of being an adventurer and finding people that would help him in so, the answer is the story ig. While it did sometimes feel like it goes onto the generic route, it didn't go all the time, which again, suprises like that really make me like a story. Especially towards the end, for such an anime, I did not expect those fights/action scenes. They were very well made and hype! Because it is a comedy, the deep, sad moments didn't really feel too genuine to me, maybe because that's what they went for ig.
The characters are a bit... flat. There are some backgrounds and you understand their dreams and such, for some, others didn't really get that much exposition, even though I was curious about them and how they ended up there. Guess this is for the books or for the next season, if there is one. They do fall in a certain category that you can easily see, and because the anime focuses on comedy quite a lot, it's kinda hard to see much of anything that isn't something you could have guessed. Some interactions were a bit cringe inducing to me, but ig that's part of comedy.
Story: 8 -- There isn't really much of a story, or at least shown much of it, besides some basic stuff for an adventure fantasy plot.
Art: 9 -- Here, I can give it to them. I heard they had a low budget, but the more it went, the better the art/direction got, and they really used quite a few techniques to save money but still deliver what they wanted. They nailed the last few episodes!
Music: 8 -- Okay music. Nothing that made me listen to it later. It fit the anime tho.
Characters: 8 -- Quite a few generic characters, but ig they made them for comedy purposes. A bit too cringy for me tho... And the rest are mostly flat, one dimension, with only barely a few getting a bit more insight into them.
Enjoyment: 9 -- The more it went, the more my enjoyment went up while watching it, and the last like 3 episodes it was really peak stuff, which I did not expect, but was a welcomed surprise!
Overall: 9 (I rounded it up :) )

Highly recommend this story to those that want to watch something that is a happy story, an adventure that has absurd elements to it, with quite a lot of comedy in it, to chill to something and also to see something pretty hype towards the end.

A slow falling in love story of a magical girl and an evil lieutenant, just like the title says, and it's done in a really good way.
Unfortunetaly, the author, Fujiwara Cocoa, passed away in 2015, at a young age of 31, and such the source material barely had 3 volumes worth of story to go off on, having to add new things to it as even the last "volume" was a really short one lacking enough chapters. But this, for me at least, adds a whole new nuance over the anime, as it was made after 9 years, like a tribute to the author. Even
...
though the episodes were short and left you wanting way more, they were beautiful, both in art, music, vibe and presentation of the jokes/story. You can see and feel the love that was put in this anime, and the potential it had if the source material would have continued.
It is a short anime, so just go watch it like it is a movie of around 2 hours. It is a lovely story with a diverse cast of characters you wouldn't really expect in such a story, and the jokes they were making.... really caught me off guard quite a few times. They're adult jokes.
The only small problem, and this might/is more of a cultural difference, were the ages of the characters, that stuff put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth... but it is Japan, which just recently in 2023 raised the age of consent from 13 to 16, so yea, I can only see it as a difference in culture ig.
Story: 9 -- For what it was, it is a lovely story with really nice presentation. Nothing too deep, but it still is an unfinished story, so a lot of things are left open, albeit they aren't that important as this feel like a slice of life mostly.
Art: 10 -- The art is amazing! Really love this kind of art!
Music: 9 -- Fits really well with everything!
Characters: 10 -- Here the characters are diverse and some really caught me by suprise, maybe because I never really watched magical girls themed animes, but this anime is made for adults imho...
Enjoyment: 10 -- Had a grin troughout the whole watching of it

This review was a bit exaggerated in marks, but this is because I feel like this is an anime I will most likely rewatch, as it is a short and very sweet one that made me smile and laugh quite a bit. It is not perfect by any means, not a 10, but given its context and how and for what it was made, I feel like it deserves a 10.
Highly recommend this anime to anyone that wants to watch something light hearted, that will make you smile troughout all of 2 hours of watching the anime, laugh at jokes that are adult oriented, and all together want to see the last unfinished piece of an author's life and the love that was put in this tribute. Just go watch already, it's a short one! I bet you won't regret it!

A movie that tells the story of a 2 teenagers and their interactions with a tunnel that gives you something in exchange for your lifespan.
I might be an outliner, but I cannot say I liked it a lot. Felt very fast paced, some things didn't make much sense, the interactions felt a lot of times very... robotic? Scripted? Not enough time for me to get attached to anyone much, the climax and the main point of the story felt rushed as hell and we were left wondering about certain things... at least if they extended it a bit more and said more about what comes
...
after the story of this movie, I would have liked it a bit more, but alas, they didn't do that. And if that wasn't enough, I find from comments that they've changed stuff in the movie compared to the light novel (which is the source material), things that created plot holes. Some said that they even omitted the main point of the light novel. Lowkey sad. Feels a bit like a shallow copy of "Kimi no na wa"/"Your name"...
At the beginning it felt like a really interesting story, with characters that seemed to have personality, a situation/event/concept that looked like they're gonna bond over and we're gonna be taken alongside. It felt really unique at the beginning... but then... it kinda went on, and fast... and didn't really show much that would let you really get attached to the characters anymore... When I felt like finally I can see some bonding, they change the pace to make it fast or go to the next big event asap, like telling you to imagine what happened... All I feel like is that there wasn't enough time and the end should have been more... flashed out. Like this, it barely made an impact on me... I lowkey also compared it to "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" cuz of the characters and how they looked a bit, but that anime I feel like did more in the first 3 episodes and it left me with a bigger impact than this movie.
Story: 7 -- Rushed, quite a few plotholes.
Art: 10 -- The art tho, was amazing! Really good art! Loved the backgrounds a lot.
Music: 8 -- Felt okayish.
Characters: 8 -- Good characters that had potential, but I feel like I needed more time to actually get to know them more and see how they interact and such...
Enjoyment: 7 -- I was left with a "meh"/"okay" aftertaste...
Overall: 7

I would recommend this anime to people that want something akin to "Your name", but not on the same level of story telling. The art can be compared to, as it is top tier imo. It will give you some things to think about, and it has a really interesting concept, but too fast paced. It's an average to low watch imo.

In my opinion, this is a hidden gem. Would never hear about it if it wasn't for the Awards Winning anime category on this website, and oh boy, was this a journey I was caught without notice.
It is a story that was inspired by multiple simulations of what would happen if an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 would hit Tokyo, as I guess you already understood by the title, and it follows a sister from 7th grade, her little brother from 3rd grade and an initially stranger that also has a daugher (but not with her) trying to go back to their homes which are in
...
the same area.
I will start with talking about the characters, as this is what I feel like the anime is big on, besides the tragedy. This story has a LOT of deep things regarding the problems a middle school age kid would have, and even if the girl can be seen as annonying little brat, I personally understood her quite a lot in what she was feeling, and her progress troughout the story felt very real to me. When life really sucks and everything seems to be going against you, at that age, it is very hard not to become like her or share in her vision quite a bit. Her little brother, even if he s younger, seems a lot more mature, with a more optimistic view on life, even though it is childish in quite a lot of situations. The older woman, Mari, which takes the role of a protector for the 2 of them and tries to get them back home from quite a distance, is a rolemodel of a mother as well, knowing exactly how to handle little kids like them and being the kind of understading person the world needs a lot of. These 3 make for quite a trio to watch interact and try to help each other and arrive home safely.
The story is pretty powerful and makes you really think about all the disasters that go in this world and how much it affects people living in those areas. Even if you think you might be able to imagine how it would be, it was still a new experience for me, where I could see different people in different scenarios and how much impact such an event can truly have on a personal level. Maybe deaths becoming a statistic so much truly dehumanizes quite a lot of people...
The setting imo is really well done, as in the walking back home and seeing different areas that each knew before and how much the tragedy has changed them, and the character's multiple views from different ages is making the story feels genuine and teaching you multiple fronts that the people are affected on.
One thing I felt a bit off, were the interactions... Sometimes they felt too... scripted. For me at least. Some action as well. But I can live with that, the messages and overall feelings the story would present were strong enough that I could easily overlook those moments.
Story: 9 -- A story that teaches you about a disaster and its impacts on life, as seen from the character's viewpoints.
Art: 8 -- The art is kinda low quality when it comes to characters. The backgrounds are pretty good though
Music: 9 -- Pretty good soundtrack, can't say there was something very special that I would like to listen outside of the anime, but it fit very nicely in this story.
Characters: 9 -- Some might find a problem with a certain MC, but I didn't, and I really think it adds a new level to the story having that character behaving how it had, especially as the story goes further.
Enjoyment: 10 -- Episodes felt really, really short, even if they were like 22 mins long, they just flew by. Really enjoyed this anime!
Overall: 9

Highly recommend this anime to people that want to learn more about what a tragedy like this could mean for the people in the area affected from multiple age perspectives. Also, it will show you that whatever happens in family, as long as it isn't something extreme, family is family, and you should really love it. It isn't a full of happyness story, so be prepared. Really, be prepared.

A movie that tells the story of a powerful mother trying to raise her 2 kids alone, which are half human half werewolf, and the numerous (hard) decisions that she needs to make to fullfill her wish of raising them both the best she can, as she doesn't know much about half werewolf kids and their needs.
This anime was quite a bag of emotions, from really tragic ones, to really happy, to really peaceful. Truly showing the adventure of the mother and her journey to raise her kids alone, and the kids journey to find their own paths in life and have the ability to
...
choose exactly what they want, which the mother really tries to give that to them, while also experiencing the unknown of motherhood alone (for a very well explained reason). The love of the mother is felt troughout this whole movie, something I wish every kids feels in their lifes when they grow up. It is the kind of movie that is both for kids and for adults, the kind of movie that are masterpiece level to me, those type of movies that we remember from the "old days" and hardly find these days anymore... Each demographic has something to take from this movie, more or less.
It is a single movie, so I will not enter too many details, as I feel like this movie is best experienced without knowing too much and having too many expectations. But there is a reason why it earned so many awards... And I personally can see why, even if I have some questions of my own, but I feel like those questions are some things that the story wants you to ask yourself as well of, or at least I believe so. As I've said, depending on the life experience you've had, I think you might see differently this anime (not to the point you're watching completly different stories tho).
Story: 9 -- A story that felt perfect for all ages.
Art: 9 -- Good art style for what it was.
Music: 9 -- The songs really put scenes in way better light. It has quite a few moments where the sounding is used very perfectly.
Characters: 10 -- Loved all of them!
Enjoyment: 10 -- It's a story that made me questions certain aspect of life, especially given that I am just at the start of my adult life, and seeing it made me think more about my mother as well. It resonated with me on quite a few different levels, which I didn't expect. So yes, for me, this felt at a personal level as well. Loved it because of that (and more).

I highly recommend this anime to anyone wanting to see a journey for both parent and kids, in which each questions the other and can put a bit more towards the perspective of the other. Might reach some conclusions to certain problem, or create new ones, but it surely might put some questions in your head, or you can just watch for the interesting story and concept that it has and how it handles it. All I know, is that you won't be dissapointed.

Hidden gem of an anime. A reverse isekai slice of life of a princess that lives with a good natured man and another slice of life of her attendant trying to find her place in that world, both being top tier stories in their own right.
Wholesome anime overall. Really made me feel the episodes go by too fast. We have a variety of cast of characters that influence each other's actions, and even though some of them might not have had too much screen time to differentiate themselfes more from the stereotype they represent, it is still a good salad bowl of eccentrics that you
...
are almost never sure where they'll go next in terms of plot.
The story is interesting, especially because you have like 2 plots following. First is the new found family of the princess and the good guy that is a detective. While he is a detective, the anime isn't focusing only/that much on that, it also focuses on them bonding as like a father daughter relation and on how the princess adapts to the new life she is in, for which she's doing a damn good job. Wholesome stuff all together. Really refreshing and good vibes. The other plot line is the attendant that followed her and her trying to find a place in the world she's in and the numerous stuff she encounters and gets herself into because she is naive and all. Both plots could have been made into an anime of their own tbh. But I fully enjoyed this mix.
Story: 9 -- Wholesome, random story from time to time, but it works out because of the different characters and how they complement each other. Maybe sometimes it kinda goes a bit too fast...
Art: 9 -- Really like the art and direction, perfect for this kind of anime.
Music: 9 -- Loved both the OP and the ED. Songs that I will listen to from now on.
Characters: 9 -- Truly a salad bowl of eccentrics.
Enjoyment: 10 -- Time flew by. Would sometimes get surprised by the ending cuz I thought there was still some more time... so yea, sign of a good anime.

Highly recommend this anime to people that want to watch some father daughter bonding and a girl getting herself into different types of weird situations. Watch if you want something chill, kinda unique in terms of direction, wholesome stuff overall which will make you smile. Hidden gem of an anime, I'm telling ya. From the looks of it, there surely should be a second season coming.

4 girls finding each other and helping each other get over the each individual's struggles with life by having a common goal and being together.
While this sounds like the power of friendship, that's because this is the power of friendship (quite a bit).
The story in short is about an ex-idol that wants to sing again, an artist that lost her love for art, a huge fan of that said ex-idol that was very influenced in a positive manner by that idol when she was active and a reclusive that is a vtuber. The story isn't hard to grasp, they each meet trough certain circumstances
...
(perfect circumstances sometimes), and they set the goal of becoming a band and work together towards that. While doing so, they each encounter problems that they had in their pasts and get over them somehow. Saying more kinda dwells in the realm of spoilers. It is portraited in a pretty goodish manner, some scenes really make an impact, especially because of the art and VAs.
The story progression is really good at the beginning, but towards the end it starts to pick up. A bit too much. While they still did it okay, they just did it okay instead of doing it really good. It feels like it is a show that could have touched on a lot of subjects pretty deeply, that had a pretty diverse cast of characters, but in the end, it didn't do as much as I expected. They showed that they could animate and make episodes that felt really good, but at the end I guess they realised that they HAD to finish in 12 episodes, which was very fast, so they threw quite a lot of stuff in there and hoped that you could just accept it without many explanations or none at all.
Now for one of the main parts about this anime: music. The music is pretty good, there are quite a few songs in this anime, but I couldn't not compare it with bocchi, which really had quite a lot, and all bangers imo. This anime has fewer, and not all are bangers for me, and even those that are, I wouldn't really put them high on my list. They are cool to listen though. Also, some songs are accompanied by picture/art animations, like you've seen in japanese songs on youtube for example. Pretty cool, especially because they get better and better the more experience the group has.
There were also some really interesting characters that were looking very cool and all, and you expected them to have a huge impact or something, but in the end they didn't. They kinda were tossed on the side after like a few lines or appeareances, that also had small impact, and that's it. I understand that the main point of this anime were the 4 girls, but still... About all those 4 girls, each has a background, some more interesting than others, and the anime tries to protrait a way of how they got over that problem, and a big chunk of it is the power of friends... here, each with their own views I guess.
In the end though, I realised something. This anime is made to feel good overall, to see a happy ending, and that's about it. If you try to think about it and analyze too much, especially in the second half, you're gonna start getting dissapointed, especially because there are a lot of plot holes that you need to try and guess why it is the way it is now, or that are just "trust me bro" and just show the result of what should have been another part of the show.
What really puts this anime in my view though, is the animation and the voice actors. They really shined in quite a few scenes. Made me fall a bit in love with this anime, even though the story kinda annoyed me a bit (I am not a big fan of touching deep subjects with the idea of perfect interactions/moments). It feels special, at least at the beginning.
Story: 7 -- The has ups and downs, but because it feels like they had in mind much more and could have made a 24 eps season, it isn't top notch for me at all...
Art: 9 -- The art is very good and superb in certain moments.
Music: 9 -- Quite a few songs + the art for each of them + the context of them and how they were shown. It shows it is one of the main parts of this anime.
Characters: 7 -- I'm still bothered by the fact that they didn't use certain characters and given us more info about them, especially because this anime is finished and we don't have any hope of future episodes...
Enjoyment: 8 -- Overall, it was a nice watch.

I would recommend this anime for people that want to watch life struggles portraited with cute girls, a bit of an adventure in them becoming a band and a feels good overall anime.
