Ishura 2nd Season

Still a slow burner. But this time, they intertwine the set-up with actual plot progress!

And darn, this is even better than the first season.
A character-driven anime, I didn't think such a thing existed. The characters are all awesome, but this time the pacing is decent too.

Plot: 8/10 (still early to say, but it looks promising)

Characters: 10/10 (they are the heart of this story, excellent work done there)

Pacing: 7/10 (much better than the first season!)

Execution: 10/10 (every episode is unforeseeable and just leaves you yearning for more)

Overall: 10/10 (holy cow, if you are into fantasy do yourself a favour and WATCH IT)

The True Demon King is still dead, and we still haven't gotten to the tournament arc yet. If you watched the first season, the 2nd is basically the same thing. Introduce two characters each episode, occasionally bring back one of the other fighters, either have them fight or kill one another. repeat.

Some people hate Ishura for this, because admittedly, they are blue balling us every time they introduce a new character when we thought they were done. But at the same time, that's what I like about Ishura, just mindless gore and violence with some badass characters. Sure it doesn't look the best, sure it ... doesn't have a coherent story, but who. fucking. cares. It's cool, and it makes me feel like I'm in my "I'm 14 and this is deep" phase again.

I do think this new cast of characters will be worse than the first season, only so many times you can create a new one before it starts feeling boring. But that's not to say there won't be good characters, Linaris chick was great and I like the detective boy, giant archer man was pretty cool too. But episode 3 definitely had the weakest batch in my opinion. The naive robot was alright, and the grim reaper was easily my least favorite Ishura has given. Well maybe except for that one girl who can basically do fucking anything she thinks of, I hate those kind of powers.

If you want some turn off your brain fun, Ishura is always a good pick. It's like playing with toys and smashing them together when you were younger. mindless action. mindless gore. This is the type of brainrot we need more of.

When I watched the first season, every episode was different. I felt like I'm starting a different anime every week. I had very mixed feelings about that but I thought they just introduce the characters in the first season, and the real thing will happen in S2.
Now 4 eps in S2 and nothing changed so far. Still new characters in every episode. Sometimes we can see characters from before for a moment but that's it. Still no or very very little connection between the eps.

So I have a question for the people who read the manga. Will the episodes ever connect? When will it start ... to make sense? When will the real thing start?
Because right now I'm actually thinking about dropping it.
