Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!

Despite not understanding much about fleeting teen romance, first-year high school student Kazuhiko Nukumizu still wonders how he would react if his life were to be turned into a love story. Regardless, as a self-proclaimed "background character," Nukumizu is satisfied continuing his life as an introvert with a negligible social life. However, he suddenly finds himself too close to the spotlight when he witnesses his popular classmate Anna Yanami be rejected by her childhood friend in the middle of a family restaurant.

While Nukumizu wishes he could just forget what he saw and move on, Anna ends up forcefully confiding herself in Nukumizu, lamenting her status as a childhood friend fated to have her beloved stolen. As he becomes dragged into Anna's situation, Nukumizu soon gets caught up in the relationship drama of two more girls: Lemon Yakishio, an outgoing member of the track and field club; and Chika Komari, a shy member of the literature club. Now thrust out of his comfort zone, Nukumizu finds himself a major character in the lives of too many losing heroines.

So I love the concept of this anime because it is very aware of the loosing heroines trope in most of the romance genre. It essentially gives us a mixture of multiple romance characters loosing to their perspective main love rival and what comes after the loss. The MC is an average guy who is surrounded by all of these loosing heroines and it leads to some really great character development as he helps them deal with the aftermath of their rejections. If you are looking for any kind of romance you won't find it here. At least not in S1 as the whole purpose ... of this anime follows girls who literally got rejected and an average guy who all are apart of the literature club doing literature club shenanigans. I am hopeful for a S2 as I think that is where some of the potential romance could come in. It is kind of sad to think if this is setting up our MC for a relationship with one of these loosing heroines then that means all the others are GOING TO LOS AGAIN! Maybe they will keep it more about friendship if that's the case!

Mixed Feelings

All of the other reviews of this anime I came across touted it as "not like the other Slice of Life shows," that the writing was a step above and that the characters were better than your average high school romcom show. I disagree. Besides some above average production value and decent animation, this anime is exactly like every other Slice of Life anime you've ever seen in your life. The protagonist is entirely forgettable, the girls aren't that interesting, their conflicts aren't really that engaging, and the ending is somewhat unsatisfying.

If you like Slice of Life as a genre, you might as well check ... this one out too. Of its contemporaries, this is probably one of the better ones. Just don't expect a life-changing story out of it.

I started it thinking about the unique concept. it was good at first but as the episode goes on it becomes bad to worse. All the break up story are same about childhood friends and not confessing their feelings which is annoying. The girls broke their hearts and refuse to let the feeling go. After that MC come to sympthaize them and again it's same every time without any variety. There is also another annoying part, after being dumped the girls go to their crush and crush's GF to build friendship and they successfully build it with mc's help. the crush and crush's gf ... fill bad for the girl but they support her. The writer did it everytime without any difference. he just repeated the same thing three times with different characters. Man at least you can have someone hold grudge or try to get revenge or something, but no, it's the same annoying thing again and again. the only different thing was mc helping the introvert girl to get over her inferiority complex. I watched the whole season thinking it will get better somewhere but it was just wastage of time.
