Both have young female leads, bizarre situations and all-out wacky humour - if you enjoyed Komugi-chan, you'll be missing out big time if you haven't seen Poemi!

Puni Puni Poemy and Bokusatsu Tenshi are a perfect match. Both are oddball comedies with hyperactive heroines running amok with plenty of ecchi moments thrown in for good measure. They have a rather tenuous plot that is compensated by a constant gag-fest that mocks anime clichés, mainly the magical girl genre in PPP and harem series in BT.

If you pay attention to it, Puni Puni Poemi was already making the jokes you watch on P&S w/ Garterbelt, some years ago.

Puni Puni Poemy and FLCL are anime that essentially mock anime. Most gags are aimed at anime fans in particular, including plenty of references to other series. Both are extremely random and hyper; the pace often overtakes the plot and insanity prevails. Aimed at older audiences, these anime drip with sexual content that is overt and highly parodied in PPP, and turned into innuendo in FLCL. While FLCL is visually more spectacular and has a great soundtrack to boot, PPP covers the same ground in terms of randomness and anime culture subversions.

Although it is said that Puni Puni is a spin off of Excel Saga, the two do not have the same characters or the same sort of story. It does however have the same sort of fast pace comedy and hard to understand characters. Both characters talk rather fast and have jokes that are very hard to understand if your watching the dub since part of those jokes are based off of word play.

Often compared to one another, Bo-bobo and Puni Puni Poemy share their ADHD-stricken sense of pacing and "storytelling" and a very similar sense of humor. Where PPP mocks magical girls, hentai, and the anime industry itself, Bo-bobo's humor is more focused on making fun of shounen cliches and/or popular culture in general - either that, or just being completely spontaneous. While PPP's jokes are decidedly more explicit and adult in nature, however, Bo-bobo's humor falls more safely into the PG/PG-13 realm, though it is no less bizarre.

If you like Dai Mahou Touge for it's complete lack of respect for the magical girls genre, you'll probably like Puni Puni Poemi; same lack of respect. It shoudl be noted however that this is a spin-off from Excel Saga. And well, Excel Saga. That should be warning enough if you've ever seen it. Or read it. Or know of it at all.

Well, Yarima Queen features heavy sex scenes (bordering on the grotesque), but since it's not presented in a serious kind of way, I dare to compare it to Puni Puni Poemi in spirit. Both are filled with wacky humour and the ecchi part in PPP cannot be called subtle in any way. Yarima Queen just takes it up a notch with actually showing some nudity and very adult action. If the fate of the Aasu sisters wasn't graphic enough for you, just watch Yarima Queen. If you want the bizarre humour, but with less actual sex watch Puni Puni Poemi.

Chaos and randomnes typical of the 00's comedy, brought to you by cute girls.

Both feature non-stop random comedy and ecchi at a breakneck speed.

The shows are basically all over the place with its comedy going rather dark at times. They both have a bit of a hyper main character and have this strange idea blown out of proportion. I got a bit of a impression that both of them were slightly satires for their genre, one for magical girl and the other for completion style anime.

Both are OVAs, and both are REALLY fu**ed up. But differences matter in WTF moments. Puni Puni Poemy has many WTF moments in which you have to watch the series to find out the explanation to these moments, while Dead Leaves itself is a WTF moment in the form of an hour-long OVA. Puni Puni Poemy has heavy sexual content, while Dead Leaves has really gory content, so its heavy content is a way to connect them.

A demented, perverted parody of the magical girl genre, the protagonist has the same energy as Excel Saga and the anime delivers almost non-stop tropes, inappropriate and ecchi moments.

For making fun of magical girls, but also unironically being about magical girls.

Lovely yuri and wacky, often perverted humor are what make Yuri Seijin Naoko-san and Puni Puni Poemi similar. Since they are both short OVAs, you should definitely check either one out if they happen to be up your alley.

Both are basically sexy magical girl animes parodying Sailor Moon

Both shows are parodies of the Mahou Shoujo/Magical Girl genre and make fun with its tropes and with classic shows' shenanigans like Sailor Moon and others. Both are very funny and shouldn't be taken seriously.

MY BRAIN HURTS. randomness, fast talking mahou shoujo, echhi, and an unbelievably good time so long as you dont mind the tumor that grows on your brain from trying to make sense of it.

These are both weird and random anime. And both the main girls are funny and stuff. Also parodies other anime.

Series similar in terms of content and have ecchi Mahou shoujo and also for having a similar level of comedy.

Insanity and Non-Sequitor humor at its best. Both shows are extremely fast, up to the point that you may have to pause several times in order to give you a moment to laugh out loud and/or go "what the heck? o.O" Also note that Puni Puni Poemi is, unlike Cromartie High School, really really ecchi.

Mahou Shoujo Ore harkens back to the feel of magical girl parody OVA series from the early and mid 2000s like Dokuro-chan, Dai Mahou Touge (Magical Witch Punie-Chan), and Puni Puni Poemii. All of these shows use hyper-violence (and sometimes fan service) as a source of comedy. Mahou Shoujo Ore adds a little extra bit of spice with gender bending magical girl transformations. If you enjoyed one of the old OVAs, check out Ore; if you liked Ore, check out these old pioneers.

A group of girls with different ages among themselves, involved in gags, ecchi moments and ridicolous enemies.

Non-stop, fast-paced and hilariously random dialogues. Each episode of Puni Puni Poemii feels like 2 seasons of Teekyuu. If you like one of them you're likely to enjoy the other as well.

For people who love chaos and to destroy their minds, these two are highly compatible. Both shows joke about magic girls with and have splatter trends, the old one is rougher, the recent one is more refined. The biggest difference is the presence of a male main characters in Kore wa Zombie Desu ka that is absent in Puni Puni Poemi.

Both are totally non-sense and have bizarre, weird humor
