Lazarus

Both anime present a plot about a certain dangerous drug, are set in the USA and have a similar organized crime vibe to them. Also both are animated by Mappa with similar character designs. 

Firstly, I’d like to say that the settings are very different : Lazarus is a dystopian sci-fi, while Cowboy Bebop is a space opera. However, both anime share similar vibes, with comparable types of combat (acrobatic and martial arts). The characters are often shown with simple but striking colors, giving each of them a distinct visual identity. Both anime also feature jazz music in their soundtracks, and you can feel the influence of American culture in the buildings, the characters, and the overall aesthetic. That’s probably because both shows are directed by Shinichirou Watanabe, who’s known for blending music, mood, and stylish visuals in a unique way. I’m sure there are other similarities to be found, since only 2 eps are out while I'm writing. Anyway, I’m really happy to see Shinichirou Watanabe working on an anime with such great potential. read more
