Well directed story about young men whose friendships have a rocky start, to develop with dramatic, borderline gay, intensity, through lovingly rendered freestyle jazz.

Both anime share a similar premise: musicians have a chance encounter leading them to make music together and aim for greatness. Carole and Tuesday with dogged determination despite society seemingly not be interested in their music. Dai and Yukinori pursue music with intensity and single-minded attention making success seems inevitable due to their talent. Music is core to the storyline and there are plenty of music playing scenes to look forward to.

Labor omnia vincit improbus. Genius is a word lazy people use to describe the fruits of hard work, dedication, resilience, preparation and persistence. Want to feel inspired and motivated? Watch this.

I know that these anime have different musical themes, which when viewed from the musical aspect, Beck is more towards Rock while Blue Giant leans towards Jazz. However, what I see from these two anime Beck and Blue Giant have in common is the internal conflict and also the journey of the main character. The internal conflicts in both have in common that is not far from the feud between its members. Then for the main character's own journey, it has similarities in their struggles in learning to play musical instruments and ambitions to become a famous musician.

Both are movies about discovering/playing music, with a buildup into a phenomenal, surreal, and incredibly immersive musical experience.

Talent. In the world of music, talent is everything, but even more important is being able to inject your emotions into your sound. This is what separate talented artists from inspirational artists. Saxophonist Dai (Blue Giant) and singer Mafuyu (Given) are some of these artists. Their sound captivates audiences and talented musicians despite being relatively new to music. Blue Giant and Given have very different characters and storylines with their own shortcomings, but this will not matter if their journeys and music captivates you.

Enthusiasts doing what they love and grow because of it. Drama happens. Beautiful depictions of artists and their art.

Blue Giant and Nodame Cantabile have very different storylines and characters, but this does not matter. I have waited a long time for a music themed anime that is all about the music, that is not an idol show, not a competition, and not a high school anime. The main characters are passionate musicians who must forge their own paths as they face obstacles. If you have also been searching for a music themed anime every season then maybe this movie will be enough.
