This has a similar feel to Demon City Shinjuku but is darker and graphic in comparison. It's not for the kiddies. If you like the early 90s style of animation then this will fit right in as DCS did. Both are full of demons and monsters and has the "must save humanity" vibe.

Two anime about a guy wielding an outdated weapon to fight inhuman creatures and protect humanity from some mysterious threat. Each shows progress (or digression, if you will) into a rescue-the-girl type of story, with a traditional final battle that should both decide the fate of all of us, and save the love interest of the protagonist. Also, for all Kawajiri fans, Ninja Gaiden should be on your list, it is pretty similar to what Kawajiri used to make.

Both anime are set around a city where demons are attacking innocent people after a strange supernatural phenomenon event. Both anime are set in a dark environment where no one gets out alive and death is always lurking around the corner for our main hero. They are both action-packed anime with a dark atmosphere. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other.

These old time anime have a gothic feel to them that only older works have and the main character deals with Demons. They also have the idea of a female sacrifice built into them.

Same content mainly with demons and horrorelements, though both stories are decades apart from each other. Both give sort of the same disgusting and creepy feeling time to time! Big like from me.

The similarities are quite stunning considering how different these two works are. I've never read anything to confirm this hunch, but I feel confident that Demon City played an inspirational role in Fate. In each anime you have a young man dragged into a fight much bigger than himself by a young woman. In both cases sorcery is involved, as well as the legacy of a heroic father. On a more superficial level the antagonist of Demon City bears quite a resemblance to Archer in Fate. And both anime contain a scene of the protagonist drawing a sword from atop a small hill in reference  read more

If you need another slickly stylized and beautifully animated post-apocalyptic horror action anime from the same director, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a great choice. Both stories' heroes face incredible odds against powerful enemies and constant threats. One big difference: Shinjuku has a more 80s-era colorful art style and its hero is hero is trying to save not only a young woman but also the world.

These two old school anime movies have a similar art style and tone to them. They both take place in a dark environment where people are having to fight mysterious monster invaders from destroying humanity. They have enough action to keep you entertained.

Old school anime with a dark storyline. Story takes place in the recent past. Demons, blood, gore and predictable ending. Enjoy!

Both titles are horror anime that place in Shinjuku and are animated by Madhouse. The main protagonist in both anime must battle against demonic forces trying to destroy humanity. Both titles have a similar dark and gritty atmosphere. As well as similar art, animation and a similar vibe. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Old time Anime done in with a dark, Gothic animation style that is never used anymore, and the plot deals with the end of the world scenarios involving monsters.

Demons try to take over the world of the humans. Both are also older Anime.

X/1999 bears an uncanny resemblance to Demon City Shinjuku, pitting troubled characters against one another in spiritual combat against the shadowy backdrop of apocalyptic central Tokyo.

The roles are reversed from a girl being in danger in one, to a guy kinda being the center at times and in danger most often in Inma. A slew of violence they share, but INma has more comedy.

Both are classic ova from around the 90's with great production values, hard-nosed heroes and supernatural violence.
