Isekai Yakkyoku

World-class medical researcher Kanji Yakutani lost his little sister to a tumor years ago due to ineffective treatment. To honor her legacy, he has dedicated his research to developing new medications for such conditions. But as fate would have it, he overworks himself and passes away at the age of 31, only to be given a second chance at life in another world.

When he wakes up, Kanji finds himself in the body of a 10-year-old boy named Falma de Médicis, the son of an esteemed family of medical practitioners in the Sain Fleuve Empire. Bearing the mark of a deity's divine blessing, Falma is capable of performing a unique divine art, allowing him to create and reduce any substance with the knowledge of its chemical properties.

After reading through some pharmacology books, Falma realizes that this world is operating on similar medical practices as in ancient times. He also learns that medicine is an exclusive privilege to the nobility, depriving commoners of proper medical care. Using the knowledge from his past life and the divine abilities granted to him, Falma resolves to make medicine available to those who need it—irrespective of class.

This is one of those anime that you're watching- and all of the sudden it's already episode 6.

But of course I'm a bit bias since I've been in the medicine industry for over 10 years. Oh, and I love isekai.

The story follows a overly devoted pharmacist name Kanji who dies (from over exhaustion I guess) and is isekai into a 10 year old child name Falma. Using his knowledge and insane OP abilities, Falma is dedicating his new life to improving the world through medicine. So why do I rate it an 8?

Well- it is a bit "different" from your typical isekai in that there's ... no demon lord to defeat. Instead, Falma fights against diseases. What I really like is the show incorporating real actual medical practices into the show- like using a glass slide of a bacteria sample to determine the disease. Of course as I've stated- since I am in the medicine industry, a lot of the medicine the show mentions is actually correct and used to fight certain disease. So the show definitely did their research. I couldn't help but be excited when they mention a drug that I've worked with before!

How about the characters? Falma as an MC is faily good. He is a dedicated "pharmacist" who is pure at heart and truly wants to help everyone. I like that trait. What I like best is Falma is assertive when he has to be- there is a particular scene where he has to step up to save a patient or else she will die, but in doing so he will reveal his powers to everyone. But he does it anyways because saving lives is more important. Two other characters are also good. His father is stern, yet understanding. I also like that he isn't an idiot- he knows Falma isn't his same son anymore. Then of course I gotta mention my boo, Elen. I'm a sucker for hot girls with glasses, so Elen definitely caught my eyes immediately. She is Falma's "teacher". She is also very capable. The rest of the characters are forgetable, but even then over all it's still a good cast.

Story line? 3/4 of the season is good. You get to see Falma grow. You get to see how he incorporates his worlds medical technology and practices into the new "old" world. I dont' want to spoil anything, but basically the story line is Falma going around helping cure and contain diseases and illnesses. Some will like, some will not like.

Negatives? I would say the main negative is Falma's power. I think they made him too OP. The boy can literally create anything and destroy anything with his two hands. At first the show said he must needs to know the molecular structure of the item to create it- but sometimes he can just create whatever he wants like a friggin microscope. There is no limit on his powers either- like he can create unlimited supply of medicine. So yeah- he's a god. Also.....working with pharmacists, I can tell ya what Falma does and knows is waaayyy beyond their medical capabilities. Falma is diagnosing and treating like he's a medical doctor of 40 years of practice. I kind of wish they just made him a doctor his previous life instead because it would make more sense.

There's no really no true antagonist. The latter half of the show rushes in a bad guy, but there's no development and you don't care for him.

Music is alright. Animation is good. VA is good.

Overrall, if you enjoy isekai but don't want to watch the same old recycle story line- I recommend watching this one. I certainly enjoyed it a lot more than I expected.

Mixed Feelings

Parallel World Pharmacy follows Kanji Yakutani, a modern-day pharmacologist who passes away from stress and overwork. Reborn in a fantasy world as Falma de Medicis, the second son of Bruno, a famous pharmacist, he decides to use his knowledge of modern pharmaceutical treatments to save the sick regardless of their social status or financial means. How does Falma's journey unfold?

Story & Character: 6/10
The story starts with an intriguing premise of a child utilizing his modern pharmaceutical knowledge in a medieval fantasy setting. While initially inspiring, the narrative lacks significant conflict or resistance; society readily conforms to Falma's advancements, easily abandoning traditional folk medicine. The story ... peaks with a drawn-out, avoidable epidemic and a poorly articulated antagonist. The buildup and execution were enjoyable until it attempted to become too serious with an antagonist who seems to be the only malevolent individual in an entire kingdom.

Falma is a decent character, but he seems overly accepting of his situations. He often chooses to act passively, allowing the story to progress against him. This passivity makes his competitors more aggressive, highlighting his frailty and vulnerability. His facade is frustrating as he continually attracts minor antagonists. The supporting characters feel artificially submissive to Falma, becoming more one-dimensional as the series progresses. However, character development is decent, given the varied social statuses and involvement of different characters with Falma.

Art & Sound: 5/10
The art is mediocre by modern anime standards, with simple character designs and scenery. Fight scene animations are choppy, and character proportions inconsistently shift even during dialogue. Character designs are basic but passable; the naval military and religious faction knights are notably more detailed compared to the rest.

Sound design is surface-level, with music and sound effects fulfilling their obvious roles without much innovation. Voice acting is decent by modern standards, feeling professional but not exceptional.

Overall & Enjoyment: 5/10
If this series maintained a more cohesive business model for its pharmaceutical store and a more relaxed narrative, it would have been rated better. It attempts to resolve loose ends by creating an unnecessary antagonist. The lack of loss and grief makes the series overly optimistic, and the conflicts lack substance, offering little resistance or depth to the story and character development. Despite these critiques, it was an entertaining watch, and it was enjoyable to see the protagonist running a business using modern pharmaceutical practices.

Rarely do i have an opinion i deem worth writing, something that's shown by my basically non-existent presence in here. But this one really got me on the ropes .

This piece of work here is easily the WORST isekai in existence at the moment, simply because it fails the very basis of an isekai. Usually even the sloppiest of the slop have at least some semi-decent world building. This anime however does not. Judging by the whole reincarnation of a literal god thing the MC has going on, this world is supposed to be high fantasy. But outside of the "divine arts" magic, this fantastic ... world is devoid of any actual fantasy. Barren even. And because of the setting chosen the very premise of the anime is a difficult exercise in subverting expectations. A high fantasy setting where nobody outside of nobles have some sort of basic magic,poorly explained in the show,with people being incapable of even treating the common cold.In the same world where a LITERAL GOD OF MEDICINE reincarnates on quite a regular basis,enough so to the point where people can identify it.

Another thing that really ticked me off is the condescending attitude the MC and the show itself has towards the people of this world,thinking an evil spirit might be the cause of people getting sick, in a world where again, LITERAL GODS reincarnate on a regular basis. Not to mention that whole non-sensical point of bringing accesible medicine to the commoners of this fantasy world ,like in today's day and age treatment for any serious disease is on the cheap and accesible.

Most of these slops also do at least have ONE decent character with some depth you can follow in the story.Again, not this one. All the characters are cardboard cutouts,MC included . The animation in the 3 short fights across all 12 episodes is low-effort as well.

In conclusion,there's not a single redeeming quality that can save this particular slop. Not some basic comedy,not some fanservice,not some intresting characters,not good worldbuilding,nothing!
