Just so i make it all that much clear, this high score is meant for the material used, not for the studio and the animation.
I am this lenient because ecchi anime seem to be an incredible rarity at this point, actually good and uncensored even more so.That being said the fanservice in this anime is light, way lighter then what you are lead to believe at the very least. And it all happens in the bath really, you don't get any "accidents" with the monsters in the dungeon.Already that settles a certain level of seriousness ,and the fact that there is a time for everything. Honestly
...
the only part of the story that's relatively fresh is the reincarnation as a monster, while that's not good news, the characters presented, at least the main cast as you'd call it, do have their own roles, and aren't complete cardboard cutouts. So all in all, the story is a decent one all facts considered. The naming convention is pretty basic , and so are most abilities i guess... But i honestly can't be certain if it's really the material when it comes to how the abilities look or the animation.
Now ,the elephant in the room, and something i'd otherwise given at best a 3 . The animation. Simply put, horrendous. I honestly doubt they didn't have the budget for at least 1 decent fight in the entire show. Unless they had a gum and 5 bucks as their budget, wich i somehow doubt. Or maybe it's the fact it might simply be a promotional series to bring attention to the manga. But im quite certain it's also low effort, regardless of budget. It feels that way really. Same frames used multiple times, even the one in the ending is a frame they used previously. I honestly don't understand why'd you pick up a story no matter how basic and how much slop it throws your way and present it with this half-baked low-effort animation,at that point just don't do it. Im quite certain the scores would rise all around the board for most anime like these if they'd at least have a semi-decent animation. And the CGI... Jesus Christ it's the first time i've seen some that nasty. It's like they settled on the raw generated model and gave it 0 polish. And after this assault on the eyes(because the voice actors in anime honestly have never been subpar, and that really annoys me even more about the animation),who's eager to continue the story....
And since i got beef at this point with the people who animated this ,so i paid good atention to it,i've also noticed that the nipples and the areolas are literally copy-pasted on all the girls. So even the light ecchi they show is low-effort. It's crazy how much they didn't care.
And the comparisons to My Life as Inukai-san's Dog while valid, this show isn't really as morbid because of the setting. Since it's a fantasy world,Stella and Vulcan aren't that out of line . There's no excuse for Aria though. She's a deviant through and through.
If you are intrested in the premise though, you have a better chance enjoying the manga then this thing.

A whimsical adventure. These words perfectly describe this anime . Calling it anything less would be an insult.
That being said, it's not something i can really call perfect. There are a few things that this show lacks that prevents me from calling it a masterpiece, but they could easily be solved in the second season and all. While the pacing is incredibily good and the story is very well structured,i really feel like 90% of the fights were ...lackluster. They ended way too fast. And you can see the budget was spread since this is an anime with 28 episodes , the animation for these said fights
...
wildly varies in quality across it's entire runtime. And ... not enough fights? Most of the time was spent traveling and doing menial tasks, and while i enjoyed watching every minute of this show, i really feel like the the battles weren't nearly enough. And another complaint (mostly personal here) is the direction they went with the Demons in this setting. Making them this painfully 1 dimensional really feels like an out of place choice from the rest of the show.
And that's about all i can muster for complaints since everything else was top notch. The story, the characters, the sounds all across the board, the cinematography...They are basically perfect really.
So even with those...... misses the show is still something most people will enjoy no questions asked.

I am left spechless at how good this romance anime was. I have to admit these sorta stuff never clicked that well with me..... Until this work of art was born into this world.
They didn't go pedal to the metal nor did they slow down pacing wise this season. They kept the same pace like the anime itself takes you on a sightseeing trip through the journey of the main couple. On that note, it's incredible how well they click in this show, something that i honestly haven't EVER seen before,no matter how hard they'd try to sell it in other anime. Every interaction these
...
2 characters... these 2 people have feels so grounded... so natural... I'd be freaked out if this author didn't use their own or some friends experience to create this story. Trully a wholesome vanilla middle school romance. Forget about diabetes it's a overstimulation of the happy juices inside your body. Rarely do i get so physically invested in a story. I got all giddy, i'd take alot of breaks just to laugh and smile like a little girl and all that jazz....Honestly it's hard to give a good review without spoiling anything. This is something you really have to experience for yourself.
Now to go an little tangent...... Is this trully a fantasy? Something that can't happen ? No. It happend in the past, it might still happen now as well. But this sort of mutual love is rare. Incredibily rare. One in a million or one in a billion. And im afraid with each passing day it's becomes even more rare then the day before. Until eventually it might just dissapear. Forget one life, there's people who won't recieve this blessing over multiple lifetimes. It's the ugly truth. Tangent over.
Now back to the review... This isn't just a story of love though, it's a story of salvation ..... They both bettered their lives in this process. Of course Kyoutarou was the one who was saved in this particular case, of a bleak muddled life, on a life on auto-pilot. One of the lucky ones. But i won't say anything about him not deserving it or something, because honestly, he does. And if anybody thinks he doesn't,they just didn't watch this show right.
I hope for a third season , probably a closing one, showing them going steady and a happy ending. Dragging this masterpiece wouldn't make it justice after all. Stay strong lads, and get lucky !

Damn....Just.... Damn . That's the best start to this . Because that's how the show started as well.
Romance anime have always been quite difficult to get right, especially since there's always a love triangle or a full blown harem in the recipe, and the more you add the harder it becomes to bring it to perfection . While i am fully subscribed to the harem ideal , this is purely vanilla as you'd call it,and vanilla done right . Usually romance anime start with the love interest/s already hooked up on the MC, and that's never worked in the favour of this genre. The right answer
...
has to be a slowburn . Regardless if it's only 1 girl or a harem. Have them discover what they like so much about eachother troughout the show's runtime. It's healthy and it adds value to the story and it's characters. And that's what this anime does. And it does so very well .
I mean for gods sake, the MC starts with the morbid ideeas of wanting to murder her and stuff. But outside of that start ... dude's very relatable. The overthinking, the way he steps like he's dodging mines, since believing the first signs to be her straight up liking him got a high chance of ending up real bad..... The consideration to other's opinions even though he doesn't show it .. How he doesn't always come up with the brightest conclusions... All these togheter make this MC quite a succesful one indeed. And of course, Yamada's no slouch either, since in 90% of these romance anime there's always a side character that easily outshines the FMC and it really makes the story harder to digest. Not the case here.Im quite certain i need a checkup and i can already see being confirmed diabetes.
Of course, the .. cinematic direction i think it is? also is a great contributor. The whispers in the ears particulary hit hard for me not gonna lie. The way every small nudge in the right direction when they get closer and closer physically and emotionally ,it all feels well earned and not cheap at all. And it has plenty of funny moments sneaked in to give you breathing room in-between the lovey-dovey stuff.
I can't for the life of me find any fault in this series, this season to be precise, so it's a easily deserved 10/10 .

Another spin-off show derived from the main Danmachi series, just like the Arrow of Orion movie . And once again i watched after season 5 instead of when i should have. But thanks to that .... insight i can formulate factual complaints about this show as well.
Well... Unlike The Arrow of Orion who is not only a spin-off but also a standalone story,Sword Oratoria is a spin-off series that makes the first season feel more complete. In this season we follow the second strongest famila around, that being Loki familia. Before i mention the bad i will mention the good. While this series isn't really that pivotal
...
to the main one, it does bring light on some characters, especially Ais and the elf Lefiya, while also filling the blanks during the first season. Frankly it's what The Arrow of Orion should have been as well. Talking about the 12 episode format that is. The movie was rushed and it suffered greatly. This show was not.
Now for the bad....Same issue the movie creates. You are introduced to a new threats like the corrupted spirits and the redhead hybrid, new characters like Lefiya,Filvis and Dionysus, right? Well, none of these characters and monsters appear ever again. If i remember right Lefiya might have appeared, but not as a character that plays any role. Spin-off or not these characters are still part of the world, never being heard of again makes no sense, and it devalues the story itself as a whole. And even if you forget about the characters, the whole plot point about Ais having spirit blood is also never mentioned again.
It's only a better watch because it still fills up blanks on situation in the first season. So it still ties with the main story.

Well... For the first time in this franchise i can say this was really not it. But at least my question about Artemis i had since season 1 was answered. Since the goddess of the Hunt was in my opinion supposed to be a big figure around Orario, and before this movie i thought she was gone during the time when Zeus and his familia was also present.
The direction they took Artemis as a deity really didn't do any favours in this setting. They basically abandoned the hunt part , the thing im pretty certain she's mostly well known, and something that rather fits with
...
the theme surrounding the anime.
Now.... the biggest issue with the movie is time . It's very rushed . A quarter of it's runtime is spent on the usual antics. Usually i'd have no issue with that, but in a movie trying to squeeze so much in, there really wasn't any room for that. To that end, everything else suffered, most of all the fights, and the climax against the creature Antares. And even after all this dissapointment, i was still willing to give this movie at least a score of 9,since i like this franchise so much, and it was a decently intresting story with a deity i was actually personally curious about, but i can't,since i watched this movie after finishing season 5, im really not seeing the point of this rushed hackjob. Artemis is never mentioned again. Not even as a hidden visual or something . This is a full on spin-off story, that really should've been tied to the main one. Bell's first experience of failing to save someone would give him a new perspective on all this heroing stuff and maybe even put him in a new light.
A wasted story, wasted potential in a rushed movie.

Well.... This season happend. Don't get me wrong, the story was real good, and i enjoyed it fully . I weeped like a maiden after all. But it's so far detached from the usual stuff you got from this series that it felt like a full blown spin-off series . Again, that doesn't automatically make it bad . It's just something different, like a new flavour to your favourite dish .
On the actual review.... The drop in animation and the fluctuation of quality was painfully obvious, especially compared to the last season, where the quality peaked. This season was also one that featured absolutely 0 dungeon crawling.
...
Reason of my remark earlier there. As for the main focus of this season.... Well, i started really off simply hating the guts out of Freya. Obviously why.But i can't fully hate her in the end. Although it's basically her fault for all that , since she decided to pull out that whole soul move on her own. A really dumb move. But i guess after a few milennia any god looks for new ways to ... feel something . Such is the curse of immortal life. A lot of good characters propping up in every season , this time around the highlight's on Hedin . Although outside the outfit change i wouldn't really go with any of his dating advice, especially in this particular case. But after you find out his real reasoning what he taught Bell makes perfect sense.
And again really no mercy with the instant disbanding of her Familia and making her go homeless all in one go. I mean, she really earned at least that much punishment.
Now the waiting begins.... Will it make a return to strength? I really hope so, since it was a worthwile journey up until this point.

An incredibily satisfying ending to this arc and the fourth season as a whole.I am really torn about what was Bell's biggest conquest in this, the Juggernaut or Ryu's heart .
I am really not certain about the improvement from part 1 to part 2 in the animation departament, but the action felt way better ,in all categories. And once again im happy to see the other members of his party aren't just extra luggage for the MC ,but a force on their own. Although i'd wish they'd explain the whole magic sword system better, i do have a running theory , so allow me
...
to try and shed light on those that are upset or confused about the sudden magic sword that doesn't break. I mean it's not that hard but ... alas ,here i go:
Normal magic swords are cost-effective for the blacksmiths producing them. Since they are mass produced and even the lowest of ruffians can use them, while also hitting like a truck , they sell very well and just that popular. Especially since unlike the Magic sword Welf produced, they don't use any mana of your own. Swords that don't break would be incredibily expensive but a one-time purchase. so they still won't give as much income as the others. Explanation over. (don't take anything i said at face value, this is just what i noticed)
Now back to the review. Usually there's plenty of stuff Bell says and does that i simply disagree with, like that whole corpses thing. But the single decision to save Ryu no matter what is something i can declare that i 100% agree on. I personally would've went down with her right then and there myself. Regardless if this decision was out of some sense of justice, emotional or logical, leaving her behind was never an option. Also, alot of people will believe that whole scene at the fire place was just fanservice, but it served so much more. The single and best reason is.... Mental fatigue. Doesn't matter how much your body can go, if your mind breaks first you're done for. Especially in that situation. All the embarassment, all that sweet talk, it was a break for the mind not the body. That's top notch writing, and something you're never shown in any other anime that has dungeon crawling.
Writing's getting better and better.Hopefully it's gonna keep going upwards just like that.

This season starts hard and keeps that pace for most of it's episodes. Action is taking center stage . The improved animation does wonders in that direction. And for the first time in anime history the CGI didn't give me nausea from how terrible it looks. But by the gods, do i have a love-hate relationship with the MC at this point.... HE really tries to push conversations so much.... But the fights he takes are so satsifying to watch.... Getting up and keeping the fight going no matter what... And while it's already clear normally he's really not that sharp, while he fights he's
...
got pretty good instincts. His party hit a 50/50 mark this time around.
In any case, talk-no-jutsu always annoyed me if im being honest. I'd use it as well when it comes to cute monster girls don't get me wrong, and i'd compromise alot make no mistake... But against guys like that Jura... Cmon man...Anywayz im just gettin really squirmy in anticipation to watching the second part of this season.

The Gods above (totally intended choice of words) have blessed us with another amazing season. The main focus this time around being monsters with intelligence that can speak, akwardly named Xenos (the Imperium of Man would like a word with you old man). I personally dislike them being called monsters in the first place as well, since half of those are actually demi-humans like alot of Orario's population. But i'll surrender that point, since i especially enjoy the take on the dungeon and it's monsters alot. Great writing indeed.
More great writing is in the way the gimmick's of Bell's familia aren't thrown away. Both in the
...
second and third season all their unique talents played a role in their plans and in the overall result of the battle. Lili's Transformation magic, Welf's Blacksmith skills and magic weapon making, and Haruhime's boost. That's something that usually doesn't really go further then in their respective arcs in most anime. Now... About Bell...... Jesus Christ man.... I understand being selfless, i totally do, protecting the Xenos and Weine against his better judgmnent and all. But i despise he's so indecisive and takes so much to actually do it. What can i say, Emiya Shirou did a 100m dash so Bell can awkwardly wobble like a drunken penguin. And since i brought up Weine... that scene really got me in the feels. You'l see what im talking about. Honestly i was excited the most to see the Minotaur put those Loki familia punks in their place. I was shaking with excitement even. The minotaur fight being the peak of both the first and the third season is quite poetic indeed, especially when it's the same minotaur. I mean even if you dislike the rest of the anime, the minotaur fights are some of the best in all of anime. You could feel the struggle through the screen.
The animation.... it widly swirves if im being honest. Big attacks and flashy ones are well done with sound and all, mid ones are very weak, and then you got the personal duels with the weapons,(like bell vs ains and bell vs the minotaur) that are actually very pleasant to watch.
A good continuation, i can't wait to keep watching.
