The two stories are mainly similar in that many things are determined by game outcomes. These can include simple rock papers scissors to more complex things like hide and seek.

both mc have to lie to win games

Psychological anime where elite students live in a special academy set up by the government so they can create elite members of society. Students have to compete against each other to rise in the ranks, and the classes are separated by merit. In both shows the MCs hide their true abilities, Hiroto lies that he is the most powerful in the academy and Ayanokouji hides his true abilities, trying to appear ordinary.

Starting off, these anime only share similar personalities/backgrounds. I find their cast and main lead to be pretty different. Just something to think about 1) Both anime are focused on school based games IE random games in Liar and gambling games in Kakegkurui 2) The better each participant does in each game determines where they stand in the school. Kakegkurui has money where Liar has stars 3) Both animes have our MC's trying to figure out their opponents plans and how to foil them, but they go about it in different manners.

Going to an elite school separating magic/tech use by skill level turns out to not be valid, because it's the dropouts/barely passing the mark boys who accidentally are the most OP. Without trying they seem to get a harem/loyal support group of equally elite girls. Both are battle of the fittest type anime. Two series with great art styles, but toe the line of overusing certain archetypes/phrases.

Looking for a very fan-service heavy harem-y style series with pretty character designs and an OP magic user? Both have a fairly low cliffhanger plot, and similar archetypes. Easy to watch if you don't mind the tsunderes and "you'll like me because, I'm cute ehe" types

Both shows involve 1 guy with 2 cute girls working together in order to beat strategic games! Winning games also gives them access to more "abilities" to use while playing games.
