the atmosphere in the 6min ona is the same as serial experiments lain. A strange atmosphere that's not realistic to find "Who they are"

Both are only 6 minutes with a futuristic Sci fi and psychological theme, with the main female leads consumed by loneliness. Things like past memories are play a vital part in both the anime.

Both are highly disturbing avant-garde shorts in black and white.

A quite similar style in the characters, both are deep and need to be seen by eyes than understand more than it's showed.

These works are united by their singularity. It is rather difficult to tell from the first that the author wanted to show. As there are a similar depressive mood and terrifying music.

Same cold, silent and strange atmosphere. Even if Kikumana is shorter than Pale Cocoon, both express the same feeling of loneliness in a "futurist" world.

Creepy, psychological, weird, complex, and intriguing is what best describes these anime. Even if Kikumana is a short with no dialogue at all, if you were intrigued by one you may like the other as well.

Both are short stories about a lonely female. While Kanojo no Kanojo no Neko is more of a drama, Kikumana is dementia. Both are psychological.
