The author of Hikari no Ou seems very inspired by Uehashi Nahoko (author of Seirei no Moribito and Erin), and the animation department has enforced this impression with a similar art style. Even if Hikari no Ou has some flaws it's well worth watching if you enjoy Seirei no Moribito.

Both series: * Tell about future civilizations who have somewhat forgotten of our current times. * Both have magical elements in the future * Artstyle also has some similarities as there is no distinctive shadows yet seem unique on their own. Hikari no Ou even takes it step further and has some really nice drawn images occasionally. These are some elements that give Shinsekai Yori and Hikari no Ou similar feel. Especially the somewhat magical future of mankind, yet still somehow connected to the past. If that seems interesting, check them out.

The Fire Hunter and Demon Slayer at face value are dissimilar shows. However, in terms of how they are made, they are foils to each other. Demon Slayer's chief criticism is its shallow writing in spite of its superb animation. The vice versa is true for the Fire Hunter. A viewer watching both can have a very clear experience on what a show that has one but not the other would feel like. It may aid in answering a common question: "Which do you prefer: a show with good visuals but bad writing? Or a show with good writing but bad visuals?"

Both shows are set in a dystopian world which mixes mythological magic, technology and mystery. Both are dystopies caused by the past actions of humans, who woke cosmic horrors and cataclysmic events. In both the very laws of physics changed as a result. Both shows focus on a sibling couple, in the case of Fire Hunter with the addition of a young girl as the curious, innocent self-insert character. Both shows are artsy, and suffer from very bad production values. Both shows have an unusually dark mood and level of despair. The low production values, bleak story, slow development and abstract symbolism made both shows  read more

A girl in a strange land with a wolf, start a journey.... I don't really know why but it reminded me of Totsukuni, maybe the pale palete colours, the strange world and the art style seem similar. The weird trains gave me also some Kabaneri vibes...

Hikaru no Ou shares a lot of similarities with Mononoke Hime, to the point where it could almost be set in the same universe a thousand years later. The plot shares many similarities as well, together with the overall atmosphere. Despite the somewhat disappointing animation Hikaru no Ou is worth watching if you like this type of anime.

The Fire Hunter and Fire Force have very similar story outlines, but executes them very differently. We follow characters where life has been changed by spontaneously human combustion. Fire Force uses this premise to create an action packed shounen series. The Fire Hunter uses this premise to a more somber historical fantasy series. If you felt that Fire Force had so much unrealized potential then The Fire Hunter might be a great opportunity for you. However, The Fire Hunter has some very painful animation shortcuts so you have accept this to enjoy the anime.

Yes, you have seen this premise before in countless variations: Attack on Titan, God Eater, Owari No Seraph, Takt Op. Destiny, and of course Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and The Fire Hunter. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress received more criticism than expected because Wit Studio used many staff members from Attack on Titan rather than make the next season of Attack on Titan. Unlike Owari No Seraph (another Wit Studio product), this series is an anime original. Kabaneri has its problems, but it is a hell of a ride. The Fire Hunter has some remarkable known staff member for a much smaller studio, but  read more
