these two shows are similar in that they both deal with a woman, in the old days of the samurai, hiring 1 or 2 strong guys to help them pursue their goals. they both have comedy and a LOT of action

Both anime have a capable warrior becoming a bodyguard of a youth. They are both set in a historical setting (old Japan for Blade, and a fantasy world that does have a lot in common with old Japan for Seirei). There are some good fighting scenes in both anime and the villains get character-development as well.

Both anime deal with beings that are immortal and can die by cutting off his or her head off. They are both centered on revenge and the main protagonist in both anime fight against powerful enemies as they travel around to complete their quest. Both anime are action-packed anime filled with violence and blood. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both involve strong male characters who fight around the same time and place. Shura no Toki main character focuses only on mute combat (hands only) while Blade of the immortal main character focuses on many different kinds of weapons. Both Main Charactes want to protect.

Both have interesting samurai main characters going on adventures with another person/people who are trying to figure things out about their life.

First let me make myself clear about one thing and that is: both anime's failed my expectation more or less. Anyways in both anime there is an immortal samurai, that somehow finds himself in a need to aid a woman. But i must admit that the animation and the figthing scenes are good, but the story is not in the best way transmited from the manga. Also they lack a good ending.

Although the setting in the two are very different, the flavor is close to one another. With lots of blood and violence in both, neither are shy about showing cruel moments.

Manji (Blade of the Immortal) and Raizou (Revenger) are samurai who have killed innocent people and pledge to atone for their sins. Both series explore whether killers deserve redemption. Blade of the Immortal is a much more violent series compared to Revenger whose plotline has more intrigue. Blade of the Immortal and Revenger have been overlooked series that easily appeal to the same audience.

Both have male MC's who are both masters of the fighting style, both animes are based around swords/sword fighting and in both of these the MC's mission is to help the female MC's complete their objective. While both MC's are masters of fighting they do not wish to fight until the female MC's give them a personal reason as to why they need their support thus giving them the reason to fight.

Both of these are about immortal characters who are up against some sort of supreme evil.

They are similar in the fight of swords, in the characters. In the two series there is great blood, you fight exciting and an interesting history.

They both have 'Blade' in their English titles. Thus, I'm posting a recommendation. This is MAL. Yes. For those interested, there ARE actual similarities between the two titles. They share the same composer, for one. Story/character-wise? A tough, roguish ADULT traveling with a much younger, much prettier female companion on a path of vengeance. There's lots of blood & death, naturally. These introductory adaptations are gateways to the best of seinen manga. They may not impress on their incomplete lonesomes and would annoy anyone looking for a start-to-end anime-only story, but for those willing to read manga you seriously can't get much/any better. Jaw-dropping artwork is only  read more

Samurai theme. Violent and dramatic world. Deep and interesting characters. So this story will be interesting to those who appreciate all these things in anime.
