set in imperial japan of 1920s-30s, both are about a militarized organization of vampire hunters that operates secretly from regular citizen eyes.

Mars Red is another vampire show that handles it's themes with a lot of depth and nuance, if you like Shiki you won't want to miss out on this.

If the stage play aspect of either shows was something that you enjoyed about it, I definitely suggest the other. Mars red has a far more "stage like" presentation as a whole, with it's story telling and even dialogue at times being similar to what you would see in a Shakespeare drama script, while oshi no ko dives into the creation of a stage play from the producers perspective, and does a fantastic job displaying the peak of modern theatre presentation. Both in their own way bring an aspect of stage plays to life in an authentic way, so if that seems interesting to you, check  read more

i'd recommend watching mars red if you want a similar vampire, military premise like in owari no seraph. mars red is a little more mysterious in terms of plot and character development but just as enjoyable. happy watching :)

Both shows are military based that take place in old times. The MC's of both shows are in a special military unit and posses special abilities that normal humans don't. In "Fairy Gone" and "Mars red" their foremost task is to create a peaceful society.

In both of these titles they both have people that drink blood, in Devil's Line they are called devils, and in Mars Red they are known as vampires. The only difference is that vampires have to drink blood in order to survive while devils don't have to use it to live. But if a devil or a vampire has too much blood they can become addicted and constantly seek more by killing anyone they see. That is why in both series there is a special unit team made up of vampires or devils that hunt them. But everyone in these teams has a constant fear  read more

Both of these series are supernatural as they both contain characters that rely on consuming humans to survive. In Mars Red they (vampires) have to drink blood in comparison to Tokyo Ghoul where ghouls have to consume flesh. The appeal of these anime is watching how they fight to keep their humanity while opposing those who could not. There are also multiple fight scenes to show the audience how strong these people are when compared to humans.

both are set in the imperial japan of early 1900s, and centered around a secret military organization who specializes in espionage and crime investigations.

although different plots, directing style in both feels like you're watching a theatrical play. both contain characters struggling to accept their new identities, and plenty of drama.

When the last sakura petals fall on the Tokyo streets and the sky turns blood red, it is time to raise swords to protect the beloved capitol! In our darkest hours, both the Hanagumi as well as the Code Zero Group will not forsake us! Both Sakura Taisen and Mars Red are set in an alternative history Taishou era Tokyo. The way that people dress, the cityscape and the overal cultural vibe feel so similar that you could expect to see characters from both series having a chance meeting on the street at any point. And speaking of characters: Both shows feature a government sanctioned military  read more

Blood: The Last Vampire and Mars Red share the same basic idea of vampires working with the government and killing other vampires to protect humans. They also have a similar approach in telling their vampire stories: realistic character design, dark colour pallet, and a slow burn storyline. Anyone who enjoys vampires with a dark atmosphere should look into this recommendation.

Takes place in the same time period (only 8 years difference) in a fictional version of Japan with supernatural elements. Both have powers based on blood (vampires in Mars Red). Both have cool fight scenes

The similarities between those two animes are the characters, or at least the old man that is trying to keep up with his younger colleagues and ends up being one of your favorite characters. Both animes have dark themes, are directed towards an older audience and touch on corruption in a system that was thought to be to live ideally.

Both are about military organizations that employ vampires to fight other vampires. The difference is, Hellsing Ultimate focuses on a sole protagonist, while Mars Red is more about a whole team.

While their plot is not similar at all, they are definitely for a similar target audience. Mars Red and ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-Ka are both series to appreciate for their vibes. Their alternative animation, the old age themes, their soundtrack, as well as the main characters' behaviours, are all elements that show the audience should not rely on the story, but focus on the artistic side. Whether these anime are likable or not is up to the audience to decide.

Witch Hunter Robin and Mars Red share a similar premise: government organizations are fighting fire with fire to deal with witches (in Witch Hunter Robin) and vampires (in Mars Red). The series follow witches and vampires as they protect humans from others like them. The series also have overarching plotline uncovering the secrets behind these government organizations. If you're looking for another anime with a dark atmosphere then might want to consider this recommendation.
