Ousama Ranking

Anime for adolescents! Coming of age story of a pacifistic young boy with ~stylish~ animation. I would show these anime to children. 

- Main character in both shows are trying to become better (coming of age) - Super heartwarming tearjerking wholesome story - Extremely good animation (despite simple character design, the production is superbly good with great OST & super smooth action scenes) - Kaiba is 2000s masterpiece from super director Maasaki Yuasa (animated in Madhouse), meanwhile Ousama Ranking is 2020s masterpiece from WIT Studio (famously for Guilty Crown, Attack on Titans first 3 seasons, Vivy, Kabaneri) MUST WATCH!  

Art style is similar, both have that cute chibi style Story starts off simple and cute you won't expect the deep and emotional connections A lot of shocking/unexpected scenes Fantasy/Adventure 

Both shows have a main character who is royalty and hardly ever talks. Everyone first assumes that the MC is weak, but are in fact quite capable. The MC also becomes BFFs with a member of a villainous clan.  

Both of these anime are like fairy tales narrating a coming of age story, where the protagonist is an innocent child filled with dreams, growing up in a harsh world. Their artstyle may look childish, but these anime deal with serious subjects and you'll probably end up getting important life lessons in the form of a remarkable and touching tale 

Underdog story about a sacrificed son, in a time with feudal level of society, including royalty or lords  

The characters share great similarities between trauma and trying to over come it and better themselves. They share a great resolve and wanting to be more and better than their current standings, along with age and other personality similarities. Kotaro is a modern day setting whereas Ranking of Kings is a more medieval setting but they are still both similar and very sweet and heart breaking in the way the characters are explored. I have found both wholesome and gut wrenching to watch and would definitely think if you like one the other is worth a try :)  

•Both the coming of age story focus more on the journey and life struggle. •Both the anime is rich in intresting cast and characters and the anime try to give proper screentime to all. •Both the anime value parental love and friendship. •Both the anime have lots of twist and turn through out the story. •Both have good art and animation.  

Very much similar to the Indian legend, Ramayana, Story of a King who left his throne and went to exile on his father's command. He's very much like Bojji, attracts people around him, just an extremely positive character. This film was made as a part of the 40th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations and was worked on by teams from both countries. No words, just watch it already, its a 3 hr movie with dub casts like James Earl Jones as narrator and Bryan Cranston as Rama, the King of Ayodhya, also the protagonist.  

Epoch anime, fantasy, adventure - Protagonists who are leaders of other people - They always seek to protect others, even if it puts you in danger - Are extremely kind to their people, allies, animals, and even enemies. - And, they are hardworking and fair 

• If you enjoy story which focuses on healthy relationship between mother and her child then both are an easy recommendation.  

Both wakes similar emotions, main characters is open-hearted, makes loyal friends and achieve their goals. 

I find these two shows really similar in terms of mystery... At first you don't really know who to root for or who are the bad guys here but it's really exciting and interesting to see everything unfolds as the story develops.. 

Both shows invoke in the viewer a sense of childlike wonder. Muumin is a kid friendly (but very enjoyable and not at all condescending), mostly episodic show that leans much more on a mixture of mystery s.o.l whereas Ousama ranking is a slightly unconventional shounen action-drama set in a wondrous medieval fantasy world. If you find yourself wishing to explore a mellower but equally whimsical and rich world like the one in Ousama ranking I believe Muumin will not dissapoint you, likewise if you love the world of Muumin but wish it contained action-drama Ousama-ranking will likely intrigue you. 

- Both are heart-warming shows. - Both have a cute child as the main character. - In every episode will make you cry, and there's a lot of meaning of life you can take out.  

I was thinking for a while about who Bojji reminded me of and now I remember... GON!  

Innocent and caring main character with a hidden power that can make him the strongest in the world. You watch as the character grow, its also very emotional and gets you in the feels. 

When I watched the Ousama Ranking I had the impression that it was a more "peaceful and lovelier" version of Berserk I think if you're a fan of the Berserk universe you should see this anime, the characters and world presented there reminded me a bit of Berserk, but in a less violent and scary way 

Art Style is very unique Sound Track very similar, especially intro of characters Leader MC, hardworking Main character has supporting characters that believe strongly in him 

- similar art style - young boy's coming-of-age adventure story - important, mysterious father figure character suddenly dies - MC underestimated by powerful figures of authority - generally kinda dumb + isolated from peers - fun, kiddy vibe 

another anime that features some Japanese Sign Language. Totally different shows though, obviously 

- Both are from WIT Studio (SUPERBLY GOOD PRODUCTION in OSTs & animations) - Similar narrative (heartwarming, good mysterious story, wholesome) - Yuki Kaji did a great job in both shows - Main character in both shows are trying to become better (coming of age) MUST WATCH! 

Familial love drama with similar magic concepts.  

The brilliant worldbuilding mixes fantastical elements with a believable yet heightened medieval setting, filled with characters that have simple designs contrasted with deep psychological development. The plot has unexpected turns by subverting the classic fairy tales and fable tropes. Both Princess Arete and king Bojji have melancholic moments that are balanced with very emotional moments driven by their good nature.  

Similarities - Both MCs cannot talk but others can understand them - Both MCs are powerful/become powerful - Both MCs find a partner (baby beelz finds Oga and Bojji finds Kage) - Both MCs are considered royalty Differences - Bojji is over 5 years old VS Beelzebub is a toddler - Beelzebub is a demon king's child VS Beelzebub is a giant king's child (royalty) - Beelzebub isekais into a modern world VS Bojji is born into his world - Beelzebub fights delinquents VS Bojji fights other kings 

all characters are somewhat lovable, both stories are touching without being dumb. Cooking/food theme is not shared 

Wanpaku Ouji no Orochi Taiji is a very stylised cartoonish adventure version of the heroic cycles of japanese mythology. Ousama Ranking in the same way is a hero's journey told in this very stylised art style with the world building very inspired by old fairy tales and medieval european folklore 

Both main charechters are weak/dead/ reason to be hated by people because of their father. Both MC brothers hates them for some reason the sidecarechters are the main reason for the mc to continue figthing and also their only truth friend. you easily can see the similarity between the series.
