Both work with rumors, but JSHK is better about it, and has better characters (exept Yacchio-san)

Magical Girls, Collecting team members one by one, and Yuyu Riri is basically Iroha and Yachiyo.

Both of these shows are about girls caught in some really bizzare situations with heavy things on the line. BRS is a little oddball in its presentation, and Madoka is a little passive in regard to what it's showing you, but I'm sure that both of these shows will tickle your fancy.

Both anime have similar themes of Friendship and Morals. They also are both dark and psychological with some action scenes. Both series can also be very sad.

You might like this if you are looking for where a protagonist is on a journey to find their lost sibling. Both Iroha and Hiori went above and beyond in order to find their sister who had disappeared, risking their own life to see them again

+ magical/superpower girls + similar main characters + only girls in team + dark side of being magical girl/hero + great soundtracks + Vertexes (Yuuki Yuuna) reminds me the Witches (Madoka Magica) + Fatal plot-twist

Both Madoka Magica and Yuuki Yuuna are magical girl shows with darker twists. Both start out trying to hide this, but in the end they are at similar levels of despair. If you really like one of them there's no real reason to not check out the other.

similar themes in the deconstruction of the "Magical School Girl" genre. Madoka may have been the most jarring in its twists and storytelling but Yuuki Yuuna's a little slower paced and lacks some of the shocking twist factor. Madoka is still better by far, but Yuuki Yuna is a decent enough succesor for those who are interested more of the same.

Madoka Magica Gaiden is amazing. There are few tragedies out there nowadays, and Madoka Magica shows you a fantastic one. One of the most engrossing aspects of the anime is watching the characters struggle against something that is, at least subconsciously, impossible to fight against. The wills of something more advanced and calculating. Ultimately, the only way to beat the system is to break it... You'll know what this means if you watch it

It's no secret that these are two anime who try to play off their plots as cute fluffy fun until it gets to a certain point and get dark. They aren't the first of their kind to do so but they are two of the most well known. Both anime girls are tempted by the promise of a wish to enter into the mysterious underlying worlds seperate from their own. And both girls are shocked to learn failure could produce a fate worse than death. The dark themes never really calm down during the course of the show either.

both are neutral protagonist both are have weapon like bokuto and magic crossbow both are have friends both are have enemies like witches and amanto and both are have great storyline and great ost gintama is a comedy anime and magia record is a magic anime

In the beginning, both series are about protagonists who search for rumours and phenomena caused by supernatural beings. In later episodes, the story becomes darker when the protagonists have to fight against a powerful overarching threat.

Both are surreal psychological magical girl series that appear light at first, but become darker when the protagonists find out the twisted truth behind their powers. However, they fight back against their cruel fates.

both of heart kind protagonist have dreams both protagonist have magic both protagonist have go to adventures with those friends both protagonist have enemies both protagonist have sidekick friends both have storyline and ost and amazing fights

Moe pink-haired protagonist starts off the series by doing slice of life stuff with her friends. And then thevanime rips away it's cute girl cover and becomes edgy and dark. There are still glimpses of the cute premise, intermixed with sadness. Both have rather dramatic OSTs as well. If you liked that about one of these anime, you'll be happy with the second.

These shows are very similar. They are both deconstructions of magical girl genre, although Wixoss tends towards the card game genre. They are unique and both confront their stories in unexpected ways. I highly recommend both of them.

Day Break Illusion and Madoka Magica are incredibly similar in their dark magical girl like taste but they also manage to be quite different. Both series contain a kind hearted girl who relunctantly becomes a magical girl and ends up learning the disturbing fate behind their new role. Both series revolve around sacrificing one's own being for the greater good of humanity.

Both are adaptations of the gacha-game with separate plot from original based on universe, where main events are only mentioned.

Being a magical girl, transforming and using your powers to fight evil. Or pilot a giant mecha, protecting the Earth from an alien onslaught. Doesn't it sound like fun? Well, it's not really all that fun for the kids in these series. Both shows portray these genres in a much darker way than usual. Shouldering a very heavy responsibility, and the emotional trauma that can come from that; being different from the other children, and not necessarily in a good way; and how their newfound powers can affect the people around them: these are some of the themes that are explored in these works.  read more

Although both shows are different in genres, they have a conception of urban fantasy genre, where bad supernatural things are fighting with good peoples who also has a supernatural powers that they use only for good.

The whole city messed up due to excessive deals with the devil.

If you like the concept of urban legends affecting real world, uwasas in Magia Record and the main mystery in in/Spectre (starts after a few episodes), both of these animes could be an interesting watch. Also cute girl as a main character!

Both of these animes start off like different genres, with a sweet, innocent facade, then quickly bring out the skeletons in the closet. The anime then slowly unravels, pulling back the layers to keep the viewer thinking. If you like some intrigue, cute girls with weapons, and plenty of action, look no further.

both seem like a happy go lucky fun anime until they peel off their facades and get to work on your brain. Both are very cute even in the violent parts. Both have stellar music and both are hallmarks of their genre. Also both are must-see tv

Moreso than even the original Madoka series, Magica Record seems to draw MUCH inspiration from Utena. The whole series is about rumors and uses metaphors to relate rumors to the story, just as Utena did throughout its run. Their are a lot of visual similarities in the way these metaphors are portrayed. Both series are also about magical girls navigating through the confusing time that is adolescence.

Both shows feature a group of girls who are trying to overcome obstacles and struggles to make their wish come true. They start off nice and light-hearted then turn into a dark psychological show. Characters in both are very similar in terms of personalities and their wants in their life. If you liked one of them, it is guaranteed that you will like the other. Although in my personal opinion, Madoka Magica takes the better approach then Selector WIXOSS did.
report Recommended by Zonecommander26
Both series revolve around people obataining what they desire by altering the past in Shinsekai Yori or making wishes in Madoka's case. However, the people who gain what they desired end up losing something equally as precious in the process. Both series has a character who is desperately trying to defy the harsh fate and bring the world into a bright future. Madoka is more action and fantasy based, while SSY is a realistic sci-fi series that is suspense based. However, they are both excellent anime

Both these anime are pretty similar in the way that they both deal with the philosophy of fate and magical things happening to change it. They're also both completely not what you would expect. Madoka Magica is about magical girls in frilly outfits with a cute little animal thing, Mawaru Penguindrum involves a anthro-ish penguin hat, a cute little sickly sister who loves her big brothers, and adorable quirky penguins. How is that similar at all? Because they both seem really lighthearted and happy and deal with normally cutesy premises, but are actually shockingly dark Story
report Recommended by Zonecommander26
Both deal with hypothetical science, and the characters in both with to use special powers and technology to save people and create a better future. Although Madoka Magica Gaiden is also fantasy-based, they share extremely similar plot events. Madoka Magica arguably has more "action" in terms of literal fight scenes, while Steins;Gate focusses more on suspense. Both have "dark" moments, and there are certaninly some slightly terrifying scenes, but Steins;Gate also has some funny moments that provide comic relief without compromising the actual plot; Madoka Magica Gaiden has more heart-warming, affectionate scenes to establish a balance through the implementation of positive thoughts and emotions.

they have a similarly dark feel to them, i can't put my finger on it but something in the atmosphere and character dynamics just feels like a match, im gonna call this a gut reccomendation but its a strong one
