Both are light hearted sci-fi action shows that have a similar feel with an adorable overpowered protagonist beating up aliens or robots or aliens in robots.

Both lighthearted fluffy comedy/drama/action OVAs. Both are forgotten pop culture artifacts of the 90s that sum up a lot of Japanese media trends of the decade. Both are surprisingly well directed and animated despite their cutesy look.

Hilariously overpowered highschool girl fights high-tech killing machines built by a female rival who wants the MC's closest friend all to herself. Lots of zaniness and collateral damage happens.

cute simple minded super strong main character that make you laugh at the good times and feel for them in the hard times. That goes for both of them.
