Fate/stay night Movie: Heaven's Feel - III. Spring Song

The Fifth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City has reached a turning point in which the lives of all participants are threatened as the hidden enemy finally reveals itself. As Shirou Emiya, Rin Toosaka, and Illyasviel von Einzbern discover the true, corruptive nature of the shadow that has been rampaging throughout the city, they realize just how dire the situation is. In order to protect their beloved ones, the group must hold their own against the seemingly insurmountable enemy force—even if some of those foes were once their allies, or perhaps, something more intimate.

As the final act of this chaotic war commences, the ideals Shirou believes will soon be challenged by an excruciating dilemma: is it really possible to save a world where everything seems to have gone wrong?

Spring Song isn't perfect, but it's a damn good final film for the Heaven's Feel trilogy. While maybe not as nuanced and subversive as Lost Butterfly, This movie does do a lot of things right; namely, giving Sakura independence and breaking her out of the role of damsel in distress. She's genuinely menacing and unpredictable, a welcome change for the character. Shirou rises to the mantle of hero (as is his fate) but it's different from UBW, his tragic path throughout the trilogy has shaped him differently, rather than stardust and the heroic ideal, HF Shirou accepts his mortality and fights to protect what he ... can; it's a fascinating take on the character. Father Kotomine and Matou Zouken serve as great competing antagonists.

Being that this is the finale, the fight scenes are outrageous, and the animation and soundtrack here are better than ever. The film comes to a satisfying climax, however, the epilogue is rushed, and an extra 15 minutes of runtime would've smoothed out the experience, preventing questions from being left unanswered.

Mixed Feelings

If you want a movie with a lot of good animation, go for it, this one is full of that, but as an adaptation it fails in a lot of ways, this is not just an "ok" adaptation, it's essentially a 20 lines essay about a 200 pages book, so the plot might be confusing, the characters be much less interesting than what they actually are, and yes, even the fights mostly lack in comparisson to the original material, so for the true experience i recommend to check out the Visual Novel.
Aside from that, if you don't actually know the source material, you might have ... a pretty good time, visually it's great, soundtrack is cool as well, the plot is still pretty good since the original material is amazing, but it's still like comparing a casual breakfest to a complete Christmas meal, it still has a great taste, but far from the real deal.

This opinion will be based on the trilogy after watching the three today. As a Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night: UBW fan, I can say these three movies are bad. Period.

I was very excited to watch all of these and when I started I was not only taken aback by the pacing of the narrative but also by the character's lack of development whatsoever. As a trilogy, it's just not good story-wise, character wise. In general terms I think I'd say these are shallow films. Pretty, very much so, but only pretty. There's no depth. There's no development. There's no clear ending. Story-arcs are incomplete ... or rushed. Characters' personalities are abhorrent. I don't really mind falling into clichés, but Sakura was just a disappointment. Second film being basically soft-p0rn or straight up p0rn... yea I could not make sense of that.
I won't argue about Sakura and Shiro being canon (cuz I guess it has some truth to it) but in my eyes there was never an inch of romantic love between the two, they only resembled sibilings to me. So the whole romance story line just felt forced and pushed.
There's little context as to when all of this is happening and it's frustrating as audience because you are watching very much confused all the time what's happening onscreen. One minute they're doing daily life and the next minute they're fighting between Servants-Masters. In any of the three movies there's a proper explanation as to what's going to happen next. It seems like Ufotable only went for pretty fights and nice animations/soundtrack, but nowadays that shouldn't be the aim to be honest.

Yes, it has impecable animations and fight scenes. It has impecable color grading scenery and a very good soundtrack. If they didn't have any of these, they wouldn't have probably released them at all.
Do I recommend you to watch these? Absolutely not. Go for the tv-anime, original ones. Despite lacking character-arc narrative explanation (which I think it's a general issue with the Fate Series), at least storyline is a lot better put together and there aren't as many holes. They also don't jump into stupid free fan service.
