Barring the obvious yaoi linkage, these two shows feature a protagonist who falls for an awesome guy "friend" before they know it. Also, they are made by the same animation team so the artwork is really similar. However Kirepapa is lighter than the Ikoku Irokoi and doesn't have some annoying woman gumming up the works.

Aside from the obvious yaoi factor, both deal with friends becoming something more, and one of the characters being raped. Also, the blondes look kind of similar. Maturity pretty much the same.

Basically they both come from a family of yakuza and have a certain position to uphold.

The main characters in "Sekaiichi" and "Ikoku" have both fell in love with a member of the same sex and are confussed about it as they battle with there emotions but whatever they do they still can't help but love that person.

both of these I thought were very similar. It was probably the story line and the graphics are pretty much similar...In Haru wo Daiteita the guy falls for the captain of a ship, where in Ikoku Irokoi Romantan the guy falls for the lead actor. It's just very similar in my opinion and both of these OVA's are great ;D

Mirage of Blaze has more emotionally mature characters in it, like Ikoku..(aka A Foreign Love Affair). MofB is a strong drama, but Ikoku can compare to people who want different yaoi than the usual confused teen-age boys going at it.

This anime is a boyxboy, very good, dramatic, nice art style, romantic. This anime is a forbiden love story when Ranmaru justgot married on a lavish cruise ship, but things aren't as they seem. The marriage is just for the appearances, and he ends up getting drunk and spending the night not with his bride but with the ship's captain.
