Synopsis

At first glance, Galko, Otako, and Ojou are three high school girls who seem like they wouldn’t have anything to do with each other. Galko is a social butterfly with a reputation for being a party animal, even though she is actually innocent and good-hearted despite her appearance. Otako is a plain-looking girl with a sarcastic personality and a rabid love of manga. And Ojou is a wealthy young lady with excellent social graces, though she can be a bit absent-minded at times. Despite their differences, the three are best friends, and together they love to talk about various myths and ask candid questions about the female body.

Oshiete! Galko-chan is a lighthearted and humorous look at three very different girls and their frank conversations about themselves and everyday life. No topic is too safe or too sensitive for them to joke about—even though every so often, Galko seems to get a bit embarrassed by their discussions!

I found this anime to be a enjoyable experience, I would not go as far as to say it was a unique one, the series hits just about every cliché in the book when it comes to these "slice of life cute girl" shows, however I would also say one of the themes of this show is also about breaking clichés, specifically ones about otaku and gyaru. The animation was standard for shows like this, nothing groundbreaking but it looked good and I have no complaints. All of the characters have unique designs and personalities, even the background characters look good! The humor is a ...

Mixed Feelings
I wanted to give it higher score but for what genre/use it's made for reeks with misinformation through mixed meaning in way too many situations. I saw the word Kadokawa, now I "understand".

Visuals, characters and voices are beautiful, content is rich without artificial dragging, but i simply wish it was more respectful torwards the questions it literally asks (and be for audience that is more likely watching).

Also, given the focus It's not for people who seek unique or a lengthy story. Story-wise realism isn't found here either but it tries to be slightly educational and faithful to real life situations. Subjectively content-wise i think it's ...

Spoiler
I was younger when I first watched this series, so I found the topics related to teenage girls relatable and humorous. However, I was sickened when I found out that the mangaka is a p*do and has been convicted. I don't think that I can recommend this anime in good faith. It's one of those situations where I don't feel comfortable separating the art from the artist because of the severity of the issue. Galko and her friends are fun stereotypical characters, but I am still very uncomfortable about the author's crimes, so I don't think I'll ever revisit the series.
