Synopsis

The boisterous student Kaname Chidori and soldier Sousuke Sagara are enjoying a blissful high school life. However, their peaceful days are disrupted by the threatening terrorist organization Amalgam. Leonard Testarossa, a member of the organization who possesses "Whispered," seeks to procure Kaname and her knowledge.

Kaname and Sousuke's battle against Amalgam starts right in their own neighborhood, which eventually takes them on a hunt around the world. From the exotic lands of Laos to the barren Mexican coast, Sousuke must gather intelligence to bring down Amalgam. Meanwhile, Kaname's abilities grow, but so does her frustration as her resolve withers. Caught up in an intense game of hide and seek, as well as strategic plots, the pair try to connect and push beyond their own limits.

13 Years is a long time to wait for a revival of an old franchise. Lucky for me, I didn't have to wait at all. While I was aware of Full Metal Panic back in the day, I never got around to sitting down and watching the whole thing. It wasn't until just recently that I decided to binge the entire franchise. You'd think maybe there would be some disparity between the different eras of the show, but to my viewing there wasn't much of a shift at all. It's almost like the show never left, and it's amazing that even the entire English voice ...

Note: SPOILERS below.

This review is a continuation of my discourse regarding the animated adaptation of Shoji Gatoh’s best-known work. The first season, the original Full Metal Panic! from 2002, was created by Gonzo and suffered from various issues in terms of art, characterization and pacing, redeemed only by a good soundtrack and excellent MC. Kyoto Animation took over the project for their inaugural work, FMP Fumoffu, in 2003. This show departed drastically from the military themes of the original adaptation, preferring instead slapstick humor portrayed through the daily lives of the protagonists. Kyoani also took on the subsequent season, The Second Raid, in 2005. ...

After watching the first 2 seasons + fumoffu many years ago, I decided to pick up the manga as it was being released still and finished the whole thing. Naturally I was excited for this anime to come back, it was by far one of my favorites. I have never been so disappointed in my life so far, it looks absolute trash with the 3D AS and vehicles. You can easily compare the animation from back then and now and see how soul-less this one is. The looks and animation are so rigid and not pleasing to look at all, and this is from an ...
