Lots of crazy action transformations weird weapons overall upbeat vibe

A group of people saving the world from something. Different events happening that coincide with one another. The main character is somehow linked to these events. Both have crazy type actions with super heroes. Although Concrete has a magical girl while Punch Line does not.

Do you enjoy plots that seem to be all over the place, with lore that doesn't make sense and supernatural elements that are never fully explained? Samurai Flamenco and Punchline have all of these. Both of these series have their own shortcomings, but with their wild-ride plots, manage to be entertaining regardless.

Definitely hits it in terms of 'zany non sequitur,' with Punch Line seeming to reach (over-reach?) just a little bit more when it comes to plotting and consistency--but familiarity might skew my perception when I try to look for the same try-hard attitude in FLCL. Regardless, "accept the mystery" if you're into a wild ride with some likable characters. FLCL is a magnum opus of ADHD anime, and Punch Line definitely takes a lot of cues from it. Also! numerous side-shots in PL of people pointing guns at other kneeling people: might not have started with FLCL but one scene in particular leaves a lasting  read more

Done by the same studio they both have a vividly colourful art style that is both very expressive but also playful. Another similar note is the fact that they both start off with somewhat crude humor that you have to look past to see a compelling story that has twists that you never see coming and even at times threatens to bring a tear or two. The moment I watched Sarazanmai the first thing that came to mind was Punchline so if you were able to see past the crude nature of panties and kappa butt problems you'll find a very enjoyable and compelling anime. the  read more

"World Conquest Zvezda Plot" / "Sekai Seifuku: Bouryaku no Zvezda" and "Punchline" tell the story of a seemingly normal guy suddenly being dragged into wacky adventures, in which he is surrounded by girls. Both shows are comedic and very over-the-top in terms of their action as well as themes.

Punch Line and Re:Zero feature a protagonist that goes back in time upon death, both also feature 4-5 female characters that the protagonist must save/protect.

Sad stories featuring an ensemble cast at many points of their lives. Similarly beautiful visuals, and both develop their characters through relationships and pasts rather than real time progression.

Both at the start seem to have a stupid and poor ecchi story baseline, but half-way through the series the story starts to get interesting and presents a really clever ending.

The protagonist can go back in time, to stop a catastrophe.

Over the top action with a stupid premise and great plotpoints and twists make Punch Line a very similar work to Planet With. If you've enjoyed Planet With, there is no doubt that you will enjoy Punch Line as well.

What do you get when you combine a colorful cast of characters, unapologetic yet never vulgar fan service, super power out the wazoo and true friendship? - it should be noted that both shows make use of fanservice, however it is limited and never becomes obnoxious or unpleasant - the story revolves around a group of friends with unique personalities - well directed and fast paced action full of energy and spirit - dynamic character interactions and good chemistry - quirky super powers - atypical endings - entertaining, touching and easily watchable - underrated and often overlooked - emphasis on friendship without it ever becoming too "in your face" and without making the "power  read more

They both have similar plot devices in the use of a non-human mentor to the main character as well as a saving the world plotline. As well as this, both shows are different to what they seem at first glance. There are also a couple of other similarities but to share them would be huge spoilers.

Similar to Gurren Lagann in the fact that it is out there and is very funny to experience. The whole premise of this is that a boy gets super powers when he sees girls panties and he tries to save the world.

Both are comedy ecchis with more to offer than just "plot"

Both anime are for people who love comedic relief but also want an occasional fight scene that hits the mark more time than not.

Both have an extremely outrageous sounding premise that sounds like it won't make sense, but it does. Both involve the supernatural and the power of friendship. Both have an extremely colourful art style/animation.

Zombieland Saga and Punchline both have ridiculous premises that have a nice blend of comedy and drama. Both shows can be pretty sad when it counts, and pretty hilarious. In terms is story, these shows are not similar, but it’s the uniqueness and absurdity of both the stories that makes them similar. Zombieland Saga is about girls from different time periods being resurrected as zombies to become idols for saving Saga prefecture. Punchline is about a main character who turns into a ghost, and if he sees panties, his nose bleeds, and the world blows up. Punchline also has a time loop thing going on.  read more

It's a bit of a stretch but both anime include the back story of children being tested on in a lab. You get to see how childhood friends have grown and developed with different philosophies then come back together in the future as foes.

Enclosed between four walls, our protagonists travel through time, to various possibilities, they repeat the day to day, to reverse the destiny. In Punchline, it is to prevent the end of the world and Tatami Galaxy is to have the life that always desire. Everything is a supernatural act due to restrictions of themselves, not having the guts to be better every day and to realize what they have been going through their eyes.

Aside from similar themes like ghosts and [SPOILER] half-way through, both shows are structured almost identical. First set of fast-paced and hyperactive episodes set to introduce characters and the crazy world around them, with small hints to an overarching plot sprinkled in. It takes a few episodes to plow through and most people would drop both shows at around the same time, but at episode 6, the real twist to the story is introduced, changing the perception of the events that lead up to that moment, and everything that is to come. Along with that, the endings are very similar in structure as well, so if  read more

Both have a very similar vibe - there's plenty of comedy and seriousness in both with some slight action.

When i finished Punch Line the first anime that came up in my mind was Occult gakuin, thats why: - supernatural power with time jump (not in stein's gate way, more similar to re:zero) - the "hero" jump's for him girls - comic style with a part of dramatic (like gurren lagann) - school setting - both anime end I think te weak point in this anime is that 12 episodes aren't enought to explain all the characters story

At first these series do seem quite different given the main characters aren't much alike aside from some awkwardness with people. And yet there are many elements that have me thinking of one with the other. The bright carefree fanservice, wacky action with characters flying all over the place. And possibly most importantly, a main character who can wreck the world with a mere thought.

Bubbly, upbeat, colourfully-explosive animation. Centred around secret heroes living with each other, topped with a dash of comedy to balance out any serious plot the show throws at you. Both have groovy-ass music to back up the visually exciting fights, though Gatchaman takes it to the next level (god bless Iwasaki)

In my opinion the two shows give off a similar vibe: - they both offer great comedy - they both have weird (supernatural) cats - the protagonists are surrounded with many girls in all shapes and sizes

Both start out as comedies with slight supernatural elements, but turn into much more epic sci-fi stories with major twists.

both of these are anime that start off weak (as in they give low expectations), but have strong endings. they're both gems in the rough in which the corresponding score is most likely due to people dropping from watching the first couple of episodes. while otherwise these anime are completely disimilar, they're anime that reward the viewer at the end with definitive development. for punchline, it's radical development plotwise; for bubuki buranki it's development via characters both protagonists and antagonists.

Same scenario writer. This man has written of the greatest Visual Novels: Ever17. If you know about his works you know that he is a really great scenario writer who explains everything. Kotarou Uchikoshi is famous outside Japan because he directed and wrote Virtue's Last Reward and 999 - 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors.

"Yu Yu Hakusho" and "Punchline" are two series surrounding a young male protagonist who has control over spirit powers after becoming a ghost as well as involving a world filled with spirits and possession of bodies. Now that they have entangled themselves with the world of the supernatural, they must now ready themselves to save the world from imminent destruction. With the similar premise, both shows contain action but mostly differs from that point on in terms of their genres.

This might be far-fetched but watching SSSS.Gridman reminded me of Punch Line because for both I expected action and got very inteligent mystery. At first glance their plot seems very generic, shounen-oriented and normal but turns out to be much more inteligent and interesting. In both anime a boy finds himself in a puzzling situation and has to save the world. Both have high quality animation, with art that is a little bit unusual.

"fake!fake!"'s video has a very similar art style to "Punch Line"'s ED animation.

They are all living in the same boarding house. Each character is quirky in their own separate way. Punchline is more ecchi and random compared to Sakurasou which is more romance and school life.

Kiznaiver and Punchline! are crazy similar and I'm surprised it hasn't been recommended yet. Both have two main characters who remember they were in an experimental hospital thing when they were young and both start to remember old memories of the stuff done to them. Both have a romance between the characters that were friends when they were little and both are great Sci-fi shows with awesome endings.

It involves; super-humans, ghosts, government conspiracies, Engrish speaking Americans, main character desperately trying to save his friends from a future where everyone dies and much more. Of, course if you watch the first couple episodes of punchline, you may have doubts as punchline is more Wacky with over-the-top humor but if you watch till the end you'll realize it was actually not what you would have expected and turns out to be different.
