Synopsis

Hellsing, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats, is called in to eliminate a vampire that is turning the villagers of Cheddar into ghouls. To put an end to this, the leader of the organization, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, dispatches her most formidable asset: a powerful vampire known as Alucard.

Armed with only a single handgun, Alucard wreaks havoc on the monsters plaguing Cheddar. However, a young police officer, Seras Victoria, gets caught up in the chaos and becomes mortally wounded as a result. Taking pity on the girl, Alucard gives her a choice: die as a human or live on as a vampire. Seras accepts his offer and begins a new life as a member of Hellsing.

Though it was her decision, Seras struggles with the fact that she is no longer human. Nevertheless, she must embrace being a creature of the night soon if she wants to survive on the front lines in the fight between humans and the supernatural.

Background

Hellsing was based on Kouta Hirano’s manga of the same name. The anime utilizes the same characters but the story strongly deviates from the manga, which was still ongoing at the time of the anime’s creation.

I’ve never read the manga and probably never will. Maybe someday, but it’s unlikely. I’ve rewatched the anime a few times, and unfortunately, it gets worse with every viewing. That said, the OST remains an absolute masterpiece—easily one of my all-time favorites.

For me, Hellsing is more than just an anime. It’s tied to memories of my school days—hanging out with friends, swapping CDs, and long conversations about the things we loved. All of that somehow became intertwined with this series.

So, while its flaws are more obvious to me now, I can’t be entirely indifferent. It’s too closely tied to a part of my life to ...

Entirely and drastically inferior version to the Hellsing Ultimate reboot. This covers the same story but was made before the source material was finished so it has an uninspired filler ending of a fight with some generic cringe evil vampire. Starts of slow and after ep 1 the cinematography falls off completely. Even the story itself goes nowhere with nothing to say even sidelining the Judas Priest. The characters are boring since the dialogue is all pointless filler. The art is low-effort and poor resolution.

Just watch Hellsing Ultimate instead, and if you want an alternate version done conceivably better, watch the TeamFourStar Hellsing Ultimate Abridged ...
