Groove Adventure Rave

Fifty years ago, malevolent stones known as Dark Brings brought about the "Overdrive," a calamitous event that destroyed one-tenth of the world. In the present day, the nefarious organization Demon Card seeks the Dark Brings' power for their all but innocent intentions.

Haru Glory, a sword-wielding silver-haired teenager, inherits the title of Rave Master: the person who wields the power of the legendary Rave Stones, artifacts capable of destroying the Dark Brings. However, the many Rave Stones were scattered across the globe as a result of the Overdrive, allowing Demon Card to continue their malpractices.

Groove Adventure Rave follows Haru, his strange dog Plue, the fiery blonde Ellie, and the infamous thief Musica, as they embark on a great journey that will take them around the vast world, searching for the Rave Stones that will finally end Demon Card's injustice.

While I have been waiting for this show for quite some time, it was a nice surprise to watch engaging and proficient characters despite stereotypes.

The characters shown in the show were appealing, including Haru Glory and Elle. Though their design neither was revolutionary nor noteworthy, it had a charm in its simplicity and cuteness. With the mascots even, Plue and Griff added something special to the series, which offered character design creativity.

The show was pretty well animated with nice characters and wonderful surroundings rendering it a treat to watch. The action scenes brought out the spirit of the story despite some shortcomings. The plot itself ... was quite a twist – although similar to some shonen tropes, it had its own twists and turns that helped keep me interested.

In some intervals, the series seemed quite repetitive, but it still managed to break free from such expectations. While introducing a fair share of clichés, the antagonists contributed their own unique colors to the story. Overall, the show was written well for its type and even surprised me in that regard.

Rave Master holds its own appeal and possibilities in terms of a novel shonen show. Although it failed to revolutionize the genre, it offered a pleasant and enjoyable ride with appealing lead characters.

Mixed Feelings

Groover Adventure Rave, aka Rave Master is a hard one for me.
I have most of the Rave manga and have read it all, and it is one of the best mangas I've read. It's fun, action packed, nice depth to the story, a great variety of cool characters,, powers and backstories, and much more. It kept me entertained over and over, and I loved it.
The anime adaption has very little of this.
First off. They start the anime in the middle of book 3 of the mange (no explenantion other than the anime intro) and the pacing of the show varies wildly.
Second. The animation is ... sub-par at best, and is almost an insult to the great art that was in the source material. It is janky and simple. The sound too, underperforms. The music is mostly generic and low quality, and the voices don't really fit the characters at all (Haru's voice in particular is very annoying and grating).
Third. The show just stops...

Overall: Rave Master a mediocre show at best, and a affront to the greatness of the manga series it's based on.

Rave master

The work of Hiro Mashima before taking on Fairy Tail as a new project. I don't know the manga by Rave Master, so I just have to focus on the anime.

With the third work by Hiro Mashima, I'm already used to the fact that he not only takes over the design of many characters 1: 1, but also their personalities and all the mistakes. Rave Master was, as far as I understood, his first work and with it, his questionable story took its course.

Rave Master has a subtle approach to plot and background. And here I am already at the end of my positive ... words and cannot say anything more about it.

The characters had next to nothing in the work. In that sense, it didn't matter that the series became more and more sluggish, monotonous, and uninteresting in the course of the episodes, as there was hardly any loss anyway. The character relationships were negligible and the comedy deposits were even worse than expected. At the very least, I have to admit that the characters seemed a little smarter here than they did in Fairy Tail.

How far-reaching the plot is in the end, I can't say because the work was canceled from episode 51 onwards. Right where the events apparently went through a major change.

Particularly negative in the work was the atmosphere, the music, and the fights. Most of the really important scenes were barely supported by music and appeared completely empty. The fights have been even worse than at Fairy Tail. Not much has been said about the power of friendship. However, they were immensely monotonous and even less dynamic.

In conclusion, this anime is empty, very empty. He is the definition of empty. There was almost no life in it. It seemed to me as if he had some idea and immediately sat down and lost his ingenuity in the middle and somehow carried on. It may be better in the manga, but the anime is a whole different story.
