Finally, something decent in the entire series!

After the disastrous first season in terms of script and subplots, we arrive at the second season, which is the best of the three. I say this with pride because it's the best I've seen so far. This season has finally included the seriousness and complexity we've been craving since the first season. Thankfully, the stupid romantic comedy isn't present in this season, which makes me incredibly happy.

Firstly, the animation has changed for the better. The characters look much better than before, with more realistic expressions and conversations. The scenarios are also much better, and if they had ... animated the first season like this, I believe it would have been peak Oregairu. Unfortunately, that's not the case, thanks to the deplorable third season.

Hachiman has had more screen time in the first five episodes, and I love that. It's something that was lacking in the first season. The seriousness and the relationships between Yui, Yukinoshita, and Hachiman finally have some drama and complexity. We can finally understand Hachiman's feelings, perception, monologues, and intentions better. He's becoming a more complete and coherent character, making him more relatable, but that doesn't mean he's better.

Once again, pointless characters that serve no purpose appear, but as the series becomes more serious, they at least become decent characters. Unfortunately, hateful characters like Iroha and Orimoto still exist, and I genuinely don't understand the need to include them.

Hachiman's development is what stands out the most in this season. His attempts to question everything he's been doing so far regarding the service club and his relationships with Yuigahama and Yukinoshita make the series worth watching. Because it doesn't fall into the usual clichés, it's good, excellent, and incredible. It tackles genuine issues in a pretentious yet pertinent way. That's what Hachiman is searching for, in some way, he finds it. If only the series focused on these three characters, it would be good.

The teacher, Hiratsuka, is a hateful character in the first season, but in this one, she becomes someone decent and fundamental to Hachiman's development. Everything makes sense, everything is coherent, and that's what I love.

So, I highly recommend this season, although I only focus on the good aspects because the unnecessary characters and subplots, like the school events, are so horrible that they bore me. I only focus on the development, which is the only thing worth watching in this second season, not the service club cases, which I find scarce and pointless. Thankfully, they 're not as important in this season.

The second season of my teen romantic comedy is Something quite different from the first. While the first season was mostly comedy without romance, the second season is a Genuine reversal with very little comedy and lots of romance (drama).

Something I Genuinely did not like in the first season were the ways in which Hachiman 'solved' problems and the consequences of these solutions. This is Something that continues in the second season and leads to very strained relationships between the characters which made the anime Genuinely painful to watch at times and left little room for the comedy of the first season. So you were ... basically just watching characters awkwardly interact for most of the season.
Eventually the characters do get past part of this awkwardness but they replace it with being extremely unclear and vague. Hachiman will claim to be looking for "Something Genuine" but it is never really clear what this is. Near the end of the season lots of conversations become progressively unclear. A character will say Something vague and another will agree with implicit understanding. There's quite a few of these moments and they're Genuinely impossible to understand even though I paid a lot of attention during the entire anime and replayed the scenes multiple times so I'm not even sure if they're meant to be understood at all.
So basically instead of the comedy of the first season we now have drama, awkwardness and unclearness.

The characters are mostly the same as in the first season with a few new ones and basically all the previous characters return in this season. Lots of characters are given way more personality in the drama of this second season and the dynamic is Something that can become tricky to follow at times but it is also kind of neat to see all the connections. The three main characters suffer from awkwardness and a terminal inability to properly voice their feelings so I'm Genuinely not sure whether I thought I knew them better after the first season or the second one. Basically all the side characters get some kind of development and turn into more interesting characters. The only exception to this is Yukino's sister who seems to have absolute authority for some reason.

The animation, voice acting and music were the same or similar as the first season.

Overall the second season isn't a bad anime but the switch from comedy to drama is Something very drastic and it means you might not enjoy this season even if you liked the first one. For me it was at times Genuinely stressful to watch because of the awkwardness and lack of clearness.
Consider watching this second season if you don't mind the shift away from comedy, like the characters and don't care about understanding what "Something Genuine" is supposed to mean.

Wtf is season 2 first they ruin the cahrecter design the music becomes asssss the va is so much lamer. It's so cringe and lame now what happened to the comedy part ilused to laugh at this show now im torturing myself trying to finnish it wtf happened to hachiman wtf they ruin this show with so much bs. They need tk remake s2 and prolly s3 too but I'm not up to that yet. Doubt I'll bother if it's as ass as s2. Shame cuz s1 was super enjoyable

If you enjoy soppy lame depressing bleak ... bland charecters and plots with no developments across 12 episodes aside from one dude realising hey maybe we should discuss what where thinking then maybe you'd dislike it less then me no garentees tho
