Considering that both Giant Robo and Tetsujin 28 are classic retro-mecha creations of Mitsuteru Yokoyama, and that the Giant Robo OVA is one big homage to all of his works, it comes as no surprise that they have alot of things in common, from remote controlled robots, to even Tetsujin 28 characters appearing in Giant Robo. Giant Robo's director Imagawa Yasuhiro also directed the Tetsujin 28 2004 remake.

Both shows are Imagawa doing remakes of classic mecha, and have at times moving and often epic-scale plots with twists and tragic villains.

Both 21st century remakes of classic robot manga. Tetsujin is generally more faithful to the source material. A father-son relationship plays an important role in both.

Both series utilize the history of Showa Japan to contextualize their exploration of various topics which occasionally dip into the same territory; Tetsujin 28-go is set in the mid-late 50s while Concrete Revolutio spans the mid 60s to early 70s. Historical events are frequently referenced. Both feature mecha action.

Tear-terking historical anime about the consequences of war. They both take place in a thoroughly defeated Japan.

The style of drama in both shows is very similiar, as is the artwork.

Both feature a giant robot remotely controlled by a kid detective and have a similar setting.
