Midnight Eye: Gokuu

More Cyberpunk anime. 

Both anime has a very similar cyberpunk setting and noir vibe. Urban landscapes at night, sex, violence, the dangers of technology - they both represent a similar style and era of animation. 

Both anime are directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and are animated by Madhouse. They both have a similar dark and gritty atmosphere. As well as similar art, animation and a similar vibe. Both anime has the main protagonist battling against various criminals in a futuristic world. Both anime are action-packed anime filled with violence, blood and gore. If you liked one, you'd like the other.  

Midnight Eye Goku 1 & 2 are pretty much an extra couple of a bit less good episodes of Cyber City. Both have similar 80s visual flair. Similar action. Similar corrupt cyberpunk world. Similar trashiness. Cyber city has more swearing and absolutely must be watched as the english dub, and ideally with the UK's metal based soundtrack. 

Both of these anime were inspired by Journey to the West, but both of them adapt it very loosely, adding more action and completely new element, leaving mostly just the concept of Goku and the Nyoibou stick. Still, it's interesting to compare them as they share the same roots.
