Synopsis

After eating a strange flower, Chocotan the mini dachshund gains the ability to talk! Since then, the eager pup has been able to provide her young owner, Nao Hatori, with earnest support.

The two often walk to the park in hopes of running into Hatori's crush, Yamato Arima, and his dachshund Happy. During one encounter, Arima is interrupted by his female classmates, distancing Hatori from their conversation. To make matters worse, Chocotan loses her ability to speak and is unable to console her now devastated owner. Despite these setbacks, Chocotan's steadfast love for her human companion motivates Hatori to muster the courage to realize her genuine feelings.

Super cute and basically the best thing ever. Short but really sweet. You wouldn't understand until you've seen the episode, but it is very heartwarming at the end I was near tears.

The ending was extremely satisfactory because no conflict was left unsolved, and it also allowed room for a sequel episode.

The soundtrack was glorious, and the animation was kawaii desu. The characters went through significant development and grew into a loveable and memorable
cast of humans and dogs.

The voice acting was phenomenal.

Overall, this was the most enjoyable experience of the week for me. Really made my entire day.

I gave this OVA a 8.

Despite it being disturbingly sweet, it looks like it would be an outstanding anime for 8-12 year old girls.

It is kinda stereotypical of what the Japanese seem to think girls want to watch, ie. sweet and cloying romance, but no one needs to be watching just this kinda anime all the time. That is what made me drop it from a 9 to an 8 truth be told.

I continuously compared it to children's talking animal cartoons of the west and came see this as a "workable" premise, in that it seems to be around a "power" of the dog. I ...

Chokotan is an adaptation of an ongoing manga written by Takeuchi Kozue. The special is only ten minutes long and was handled by J.C. Staff. Yes, the same studio behind Potemayo, The Slayers and Honey & Clover, to name a few. So, how do they handle adapting an ongoing manga into a really short special? Let's take a look and find out.

Story:

The titular Chokotan is a miniature Dachshund. Her owner, Nao, likes a boy in her school named Arima and gets to see him everyday when taking Chokotan for her morning walk in spite of being in different classes. Also, Chokotan can talk like ...
